The other team

I took a deep breath, letting the fresh air wash over me in calming waves as I walked to school on my normal route. Usually I'd be tired and unhappy about having to deal with classmates, but I have a boyfriend to look forward to now so none of them really mattered anymore.

Tsukishima, he's tall...so tall with blonde hair and these piercing yellow orange eyes that would scare anyone who was trying to hurt me away. He was calm and caring, sometimes opinionated but I liked that about him. I had been crushing on him since we became friends and then one day he asked me on a date. Since then all my dreams have come true.

Today he would have another volleyball practice with his team and I was gonna cheer for him, even if it was just training. I was actually thinking up what to say when I felt the familiar tap on my shoulder and had to tilt my head back to look at him.

"Hi Tsukki! Your practice is after school right? I have something special planned."

He raised a eyebrow at me knowing full well I'd giggle at his curiosity and in turn make him smile ever so slightly. "This doesn't have to do with dinosaurs right? After what you did on my birthday I am worried about your surprises."

I burst out in laughter as I recalled the birthday party where I had decorated his whole house with miniature green dinosaurs and themed it like a person would for a three year old, even going so far as to buy him a onesie. "No nothing like that. This is something to boost your confidence if the going gets tough and make sure you know you always have someone in your corner."

His smile grew bigger and he was about to say something when he was cut off by none other than Yamaguchi himself. When I agreed to start dating Tsukishima I learned pretty fast that they were a packaged deal and you couldn't have one without the other, I didn't mind though I enjoyed their company. "Hey guys! What are you two love birds chatting about hm?"

"(Y/n) has a surprise for me during practice today. I was making sure it didn't have anything to do with green prehistoric reptiles, which I will have you know I'm still finding in odd places. Why did you put one in my coffee machine? It could have melted."

"Awe it didn't?" I chuckled along with Yamaguchi as we listened to the other places my boyfriend had found his little green friends. This all felt so normal, like it was always this way since we were kids....who sadly had school right in front of them when the walk was over.

*I'mma skip the school part cause you all went to different classes anyway. So Time Skip!*

"Yama! Wait up!" I called to the brown haired boy as he started to walk out the building. Of course my class would be the late one today. "Is Tsukki already in the gym? I cannot be a good cheerleader if I'm late!"

He made signals with his hands that confused me and then the locker door behind him shut to reveal the blonde I had been after. How did I not notice him? He must have been leaning down or something...ugh the hand motions!

"Cheerleader? (Y/n) what the heck are you talking about?"

"Um...my new....hobby?" I silently cursed myself for saying something so dumb and obviously failing at covering for myself. The look he gave me showed he was unconvinced and I didn't blame him. "Yeah...I was gonna cheer for you. I wanted it to be a surprise though!"

"Well technically I am surprised and also...happy. That's really sweet of you...did you get a outfit too?"

I blushed bright red as Yamaguchi snickered, that jerk he was supposed to be on my side with this one. "No. I got the pom poms but I'm not wearing any different clothes. That's to embarrassing even for me."

"You never know till you try. We should get going we have three minutes left."

I nodded and held out my hand which he took in his, sometimes he didn't like the shows of affection, other times however he'd make a point of making everything public so people could see. He truly was a hard person to decipher.

The walk to the gym wasn't interesting, not even any chit chat as our feet stepped with ease, in all honesty it was boring. That didn't happen often so even now I wonder if it was because of what was about to come to light.

When we reached the large metal doors we were surprised to see the rest of the volleyball team waiting impatiently for a man to do something. He wasn't unlocking in it...in fact he looked like he had a crowbar which was definitely a new experience.

"Did Hinata and Kageyama get everyone locked out?" Tsukishima asked loudly to who I could only assume was the captain. The two boys whose names had been said shot angry glares in our direction and Yamaguchi laughed while I wondered what their problem was.

"No it's just stuck-"

As if on cue the metal door made a loud screeching noise as it popped open to reveal the horrors with in. Lights came on and the crowd of students gasped as they took in the sight before them with wide eyes and annoyed curses.

In the gym were volleyballs covered in makeup to look like girls, they had been stuck on brooms and posed to look like they were playing a match. Some had mop heads to look like hair while others had it drawn on and each one had a name tag hanging on it with all the team members names on it.

"They made us girls!"

I chuckled against my better judgement as I looked at the person who had shouted. I went to class with him before, his name was Tanaka and from where I was I could see the mop creation that was supposed to be him. It had a lamp shade for a skirt and I wondered what made them choose to only do that to his character.

"Who did it?"
