10. "Did you just ask a god to take the couch?"

I walked by the courtyard as a few of the guards nodded once at me as a greet. I nodded back as I made my way to the serving table. I had gained a quick amount of respect from the other warriors after I "tamed" the great beast.

Respect or fear. Of either Cerberus, who after the incident began to take strolls into the courtyard to meet me. Or of Hades, who was scarier than the three-headed dog.

"So you don't have any chicken?" I heard the person in front of me ask as I picked up a plate and stood in wait.

I recognised him as Arian. The boy who died in a fire. The server shrugged her shoulders confused about what he was asking. "What is chicken?" She asked, elongating the 'e' in 'is'.

"You know...the thing that goes...cluck cluck cluck." He continued making the noises and moving his neck forward in a repeated motion to enact a chicken.

I laughed as I saw him. "I'm so sorry. I've been holding the line." He quickly apologized as he moved out of the way and took what he had and walked away to sit at an empty table.

I turned to the server. "Do you have any ring meat?"

She nodded as she took my plate and walked to the barrels of food that were placed in behind her. A second later she returned the plate to me. I thanked her and made my way to Arian's table.

"May I?" I asked glancing at the empty spot in front of him.

"By all means." He mumbled, his mouth full of food, as he waved his hand telling her to sit.

I put my plate down and sat down. I pushed the plate towards the centre as I grabbed a piece of the white meat with my fork. "Chicken."

"How?" Arian asked as he grabbed a bite.

"Chicken is called "ring meat" here. The warriors make the chickens fight in a ring, betting on who would win." I explained.

"How do you know?" Arian asked as he ate some more.

"My maid used to be a cook here. She has been giving me advice on what to eat and what not to." I reply as I pick up the last piece of chicken left on the plate. "You eat quick."

"I'm sorry." Arian apologized.

"It's fine. Get us some more?" I asked.

He nodded quickly and got up with the plate in his hand and made his way to the serving table.

I tapped the table as back began to hurt slightly from sitting on the benches. The tables didn't have chairs. They had long benches beside them, which had no back.

I looked around to see Ansel walking towards me. He sat down beside me but with his legs towards the opposite direction, his back resting against the table.

"I've been looking for you." He said as he removed something from his pocket.

"Another dagger?" I asked in question.

"Every warrior has their own personal item from their past. You seemed to be missing it so I did some digging for you." He replied.

"You went through my past?" I asked, feeling violated. "Isn't that against some sort of privacy law or something?"

"It should have been. How the hell did you survive that place?" Ansel asked me softly.

I began to take quick, quiet breaths through my mouth as I tried to calm myself. I didn't want anyone to know about my past.

"It's none of your business," I muttered as I got up and walked away as Arian came back to the table with more chicken.

"Illiana?" Arian called out but I didn't turn around.

I opened my door, entered and slammed it shut behind me. I dropped to the ground as I pulled my knees to my chest, hugging myself.

I didn't survive the place. The place I called my home for fifteen years of my life. I didn't survive. A part of me died in that place. And the kids that I left there, were probably still dying.

I felt a tear drop down my cheek as I relived the memories of my childhood days.

"I didn't know anyone was in here." A Male voice spoke in my room.

I quickly jumped up and grabbed the closest thing I could find to use as a weapon. A fork and pointed it at the blonde figure in front of me. The fork was from a plate, which looked like it just had cake.

I didn't have any cake. Was I in the wrong room?

"I got myself some cake," Apollo explained.

"Did Hades send you here to apologize or did you just come cause you couldn't resist the temptation?" He asked smirking and leaning against the wall beside him.

"This is my room." Was all I could reply.

"No, it's mine," Apollo replied shaking his head.

"No, it's mine," I replied taking a step forward, still pointing the fork at him in a threatening manner.

"It is mine." He stepped forward so that we were now barely centimetres from each other.

"Mine." I crossed my arms across my chest as I looked straight into his eyes, hoping and praying that he couldn't read what I thought.

But he was God and I was praying. How would that work?

"Mine." He growled as he stepped closer.

"Kiss me!" A voice in my mind yelled. But I'm way smarter than that.

"Well, finders- keepers," I replied as I walked past him into my room and sat on my bed. I picked up the novel I was reading and continued it, while completely ignoring Apollo. "Losers- weepers."

"Darling, I am going to be staying for a few more days and since I pissed Hades off, I doubt he would accommodate me in one of his better rooms. So, you're stuck with me." He said as he jumped onto the bed beside me.

"No!" I said as I tried to kick him off the bed but he wouldn't budge. "Take the couch."

He turned his head towards me and gasped. Loud and clear. "Did you just ask a god to take the couch?"

"Couch or the tub, my lord," I said as sweetly as I could. "Your choice."

Apollo groaned as he got up. "Got to hand it to you, the way you say "my lord" is se-xy." He said stressing the two syllables.

I grabbed the nearest pillow and threw it at him. "Get out."

"Geez. I'm leaving. But we all the know the real reason." He said as he opened the door and turned to look at me. I raised an eyebrow in question. "You can't resist all of this." He waved a hand across his body and then walked out without waiting for my response.

I was glad he did. I didn't think I could have retorted to that.

Since he was right.
