Bonus 4

This is Shaun's POV of Kurt's birthday party. Jimmy's personal life is vague on purpose. We'll be seeing A LOT of Jimmy after the two Point stories. I promise.

When Shaun asked Jimmy to borrow his private plane, she never expected him to offer to come too. Shaun had mentioned that the Dwyers and the Brownings were intertwined with the Sumner and Roches.

"I hear good things about the agency."

Shaun eyed him. "Don't steal it."

He laughed. "I don't steal. The Brownings are Manhattan elite. I'm curious about Abigail's granddaughter. The old lady's crustier than Grand-mere."

Sarah laughed. "I'm not sure it's possible to be crustier than my mother."

"Abigail is regal, and she likes me."

Josh winked. "Because you didn't take over her business."

Jimmy laughed. "Actually, I sold it off in pieces after her husband passed. Let's say she'll be living in style the rest of her natural life and beyond."

Josh said, "Kurt Dwyer married her son's ex-wife."

"She has nothing kind to say about her son, but she loves her granddaughter."

"I was in high school when I met Olivia. Even I was intrigued when I heard her father was a criminal."

Sarah eyes widened. "What did he do?"

"Insider trading." Jimmy frowned.

"The rumor is he's living on an island in the Caribbean," Josh added.

Shaun frowned. "It must have been hard for Olivia. At least, she had her best friend, Zach."

Stella looked at Jimmy. "Don't you have something more important to do on a Saturday night?"

Jimmy smiled. "Every night is important, but I'm indebted to Abigail Browning and would like to meet the young woman she brags about."

Josh laughed. "She was spunky as a kid."

Shaun added, "She organized the party."

"She sounds like Abigail without the edge."

It amazed Shaun how much her cousin's life intersected with hers. They knew many of the same people, including several people from her private high school.

Roches and Sumner filled the plane for the short flight to New York. Oliver teased Josh about getting Jimmy when he fell in love with Shaun. As soon as they were in the air, Jimmy poured from his favorite bottle. JJ almost turned down Jimmy's offer of a glass of the expensive liquid.

Oliver prodded him. "You aren't pregnant."

Even Jimmy teased, "Your work is done."

Josh added, "For now."

No one disputed him. With three kids and one under a year, Josh was hands on, but so were the other fathers of young kids.

After the quick flight, the cars were waiting for them when they exited the terminal. Shaun had flown in Jimmy's plane when she lived in Seattle, but since she settled down with Josh, they hadn't had a reason to jet set. Meanwhile, Jimmy thought nothing of flying to New York for a Broadway play. Mostly, he flew for business.

After they entered the restaurant, Emma caught Shaun's eye as everyone fussed over Violet. Because she was short, she looked more pregnant than she was.

Alicia referred to her as delicate. Josh brought Shaun a glass of wine. She was still nursing, but Poppy was spending the night in Dover. Stella insisted they could handle all three. Tansy was a big help.

She smiled at the glass. "I can't remember my last drink."

Emma laughed. "Will it be a repeat of Zach's wedding?"

Josh whispered, "The same sideshow."

Shaun watched as Max couldn't take his eyes off Olivia. Unintentionally, Jimmy added jealousy. Shaun knew he was no threat, but Max didn't.

Emma leaned over. "They should put each other out of their misery."

Violet sat down. "My feet are killing me."

"It'll be worth it." Emma didn't fawn all over her sister-in-law the way the pregnant woman wanted.

Shaun added, "Wait until the varicose veins pop out."

"And your breast shrivel up." Emma smiled.

Violet looked horrified. "I'm not breastfeeding."

"It doesn't matter. Your body will never be the same."

Violet looked like she might cry. "James will never want me again."

"Don't worry you'll be too busy for sex." Emma teased.

Shaun didn't need an empty house for sex, but she might walk around without a robe just because she could.

Violet's focus changed. "I can't believe Lola Lazar is right there. She doesn't look like she had a child."

Emma laughed. "That's plastic surgery."

Violet sat up. "That's what I'll do. I have to look good."

Shaun frowned. Violet had her eyes glued to her sister. Ainsley made no secret that kids weren't in her future.

"Why doesn't she want kids?"

Emma smirked. "Maybe she doesn't want saggy boobs. She can have sex whenever she wants."

"And wherever," Shaun added.

Violet pouted. The competition between the sister's made Shaun glad she was an only child. Honestly, other than a physical resemblance they couldn't be more different. JJ picked the wrong sister, but then Ian wouldn't get his soulmate.

When Olivia looked pissed at Max, Emma leaned in. "Max is ignoring her."

"Good thing there are no single guys."

Emma laughed. "In a pool."

The crowd had thinned and Shaun had talked to everyone she knew and a few she didn't. Tired she sat waiting for everyone else to be ready to leave. Her in laws had more energy than her and Josh.

Olivia sat at their table. "Did you enjoy your evening?"

"It was beautiful."

"Your cousin is interesting."

Shaun laughed. "Growing up, we were like you and Zach."

Violet said, "I think Zach should have married you."

Olivia frowned. "I never liked him like that."

Emma said, "We fall in love with the one we're supposed to be with. I fell for Oliver when I was too young, but fate intervened."

Shaun added, "I could've had a crush on Oliver but my heart wanted Josh because he was shy like me. I made some mistakes along the way, but he's mine now."

Olivia frowned. "But you had Tansy."

"You're right. I learned a lot about myself."

"I knew I wanted James the moment I met him."

Olivia looked sad, but Shaun couldn't think of anything to say. Maybe when Max finished training, they would be on the same page, except Max let everyone know he was interviewing at Boston hospitals. Jimmy planned to put in a good word for him.

Before they left she hugged Olivia, extra hard. Emma followed. "Come see us this summer in Newport."

"Maybe."

For a girl who threw a fantastic party, she didn't look very happy. The plane was more like a morgue with everyone dozing off on the brief journey north. It was only midnight when Shaun and Josh reached Wellesley.

"The Big Apple and back in one night." Josh took a glass from the cabinet. "Thirsty?" She nodded. "Tired?"

She smiled. "I'm not too tired to waste an empty house."

Josh handed her a full glass of water. "You look pensive."

"What were Olivia and Max like as kids? Why does everyone talk about Olivia and Zach?"

"Because Olivia and Zach were inseparable whenever they were together. He went to school in New York and lived with Kurt and Anita. It's like the kid with a label."

"Like awful at science?"

Josh laughed and nodded. "Once the label is out, it's all everyone sees. Their parents labeled them as the couple, so no one ever noticed Max."

"What did Max do?"

"Little things to show me he cared about her too, but I think he took a backseat because he loves his brother. We didn't start noticing Max until Zach had chosen Lilli."

"I hope they figure it out. Olivia deserves happiness."

Josh nodded. "Do you want to talk more? Or..."

"Definitely or." She giggled.

Their mouths met in a searing kiss. Before all coherent thoughts left her brain, Shaun remembered a list of people who wished she and Josh would figure it out. They definitely had, so there was still hope for Olivia and Max.
