Not really a friend | Ch: 7
I close the door and leave home. Steve's coming my way with a bunch of chart papers, and bags guess that's some of the designs. "Is Grace-?" he asks hesitantly.
"Yeah yeah she's home." I quickly reply and leave.
School today was gonna be interesting. I sigh, having the thought of confronting Hazel if she comes by, she's just so annoying.
I reach Chloe's place to find her waiting for me outside her house. She flutters her fingers signaling me a 'hi'.
I try my best to smile like usual. And I think I sold it.
Chloe doesn't talk much either, she's generally very chattery, but maybe yesterday's plan made her tense too. Which is not that unexpected.
Chloe and Jasper were finally together after all that misunderstanding, and I know how they feel for each other. They don't deserve this.
But throwing Hazel off is much more important or things might get worse.
We reach the school gate and Leo stands there with his usual face filled with happiness and positivity. It's not very easy to get him to stop smiling. Another fun fact about Leo, is his very unique collection of bags.
Or collection of any sort of textile designs really. His bag today had a bunch of weenie from Oswald. The bag was yellowish in color and had a big sunflower in the corner.
We enter school and my eyes won't stop searching for Hazel.
Ew. That sounded weird, even in my mind. Although my eyes are searching for Hazel (non- romantically). I never want to find her. And thank God that I don't.
For the first 2 classes I don't see Hazel. Not even in the hallways.
Chloe takes Leo to check out the hot anthropology teacher. Leo asks her to. Which I guess was Leo's way of cheering Chloe up.
I lean against the chair. Looking at the ceiling. Feeling a bit sleepy.
"Really? I thought you'd take my place when I'm gone." My eyes open immediately and I turn towards the voice.
"Peter!" A big smile appears on my face. "What are you doing here!?" I jump out of my seat to give him a hug.
"Nothing much. I have a little paperwork left for my transfer." he says and he hugs me back.
"Maybe the school doesn't want you to go." I smirk. Raising my eyebrows.
He chuckles looking at his foot.
Peter's my very favorite classmate. Apart from Leo and Chloe I could always count on him. He wasn't a very personal kind of friend who I'd invite for thanksgiving.
Also because Peter once told me that he had a crush on me. But I was way too much of a nerd to even process that. Also that phase didn't really last for very long. He had a girlfriend and I was happy for him.
Our connection was way more academic. We loved challenging each other, teasing each other, scoring better than each other. It was actually fun knowing that I have a legitimate competition. But he got transferred to some other school after sophomore year.
"Well Mrs. Violate told me that 'there's this girl trying to top your score but I don't think she'll be able to do it.' I guess she was talking about you." he jokes, wrinkling his nose.
"Yeah" I chuckle. "You wish. Topping your scores is an ancient story"
"Pfft. Right." he says sarcastically and I smack his arm. I sigh at the thought that I am actually gonna miss this smart ass idiot. "So, I see you've made a new friend. Apart from Chloe and Leo" he tilts his head to get a clear vision of the person.
I turn my head around to find Liam leaning against my seat. His hands on the table behind him, giving him support to stand as he's clearly tired and breathing heavily. Guess that's due to football practice.
His hands stretching by the side of his body to the back, holding the table, gives a clear vision of his veins. Which was sexy? I guess. I don't know why. But it is. And I stare at them for a little too long.
His eyes fall onto mine as I look at him. And his eyebrows slightly raise. His eyes and the rest of the face remained cold. Almost making me drool. I look at him. Correction. Stare at him like I've never seen anything like that before.
But I gather my consciousness and turn back to Peter. "Oh he's um.... He's not really a friend. He's new and I sometimes help him with notes and stuff." Just when I finish that sentence I see Chloe and Leo running back in.
"Evelyn. There's a -" says Chloe and her eyes fall on Peter. "Woh. What's he doing here?" her face wrinkles as she gives an unimpressed look.
Chloe is not really a fan of Peter.
They were actually quite the opposite. As cheerful and outgoing Chloe was, Peter was calm and introverted.
Peter didn't pay much attention to what Chloe said. "So I guess I'll be leaving now," he says, turning in my direction.
"Yes please," says Chloe widening her eyes.
Peter rolls his eyes "bye," he tells me and gives me a final hug before leaving.
I look at Chloe tilt my head and say, "looks like Leo did a good job"
Chloe smiles shyly.
"So I was saying that while we were checking out the teacher some girls came by to do the same thing." I gasp letting out a small chuckle and those two breaks into laughter.
"Yes and after we were done checking out, all of us walked till the auditorium. And! guess what. They invited us to a party this evening."
"Yay?" I did a little punching in the air.
"Yes yay! Oh god evelyn could you be any less excited!?" says Chloe, unsatisfied with my reaction as usual.
"Seriously. This'll help all of us relax a bit." Leo makes a good point though I can use some relaxing.
While we were deciding on the time and what to wear, "Incoming" whispered Leo with both his lips shut and a tiny passage at the corner of his lips.
Before I can turn my head around entirely I feel Liam's presence near my shoulder. I look up just to find him already looking at me and our eyes meet.
I know that Leo and Chloe would instantly vanish, seeing me in this position.
"Hey" I say with much difficulty.
A little smile appears on his face before he steps back and lets out a small chuckle. "I've never seen someone look this cute when they're nervous."
I roll my eyes and look in a different direction before looking back at him smacking his arms "c'mon!"
He goes back to leaning on my seat and I follow. He asks a few questions about the English chapter we were being taught. He has his football practice so he missed a few classes.
We sit beside each other and I start explaining to him. I notice him looking at me a few times and maybe it's because I stare at him as well.
"As much as I enjoy seeing you two staring at each other while explaining and being all cute, I'd like to ask Liam to come to the party with us. " says Leo squatting at our level before us.
"Sure thing. Party sounds nice." replies Liam, immediately.
Leo smiles and eyes me, slightly raising an eyebrow.
I won't say I wasn't glad hearing Liam would come.
After school I enter home and hop my way upstairs to my room. I get changed and take a shower.
After a long warm shower I go downstairs to grab some snacks. Mum isn't home, she went to the market in the neighboring town and won't be back until evening or even later.
I open the cupboard in the kitchen and find a packet of cheetos!
I pop some cheetos inside my mouth and look inside the closet.
I spend the rest of the afternoon popping in cheetos, scrolling through Instagram, looking at a few snaps and choosing an outfit for the evening.
6:26pm
Finally after coming to a decision.
I wear a black retro leather jeans and an olive green one shoulder cut out crop top and black flare heeled boots. Apply a little makeup and leave the hair untied. Today was actually 'good hair day'.
Let's do some partying.

Anyways I'm gonna let the flirting going on for a few more chapters but I'm not sure how long that'll last :' ) But for what it's worth it'll be fun getting these to fall for each other cause one's a total nerd the other other one knows just the right thing to say at the right time!
So... I hope you'll have fun reading it. Also Thank you for sticking around! The next chapter will drop next weekend.
