I moved towards the field and immediately spotted Leo, waving his hands.

"Mmm.... don't you look handsome." I said, trying to cheer him up. He was genuinely looking good in that black shirt inside, brown blazer, deep blue pants, a pair of clean brown shoes.

He did a hair-flip thing showing that he liked the compliment "I know." We both giggle.

I look around "where's Austin?"

"Uh, he'll be late. He had some 'things' he had to take care of before coming. That's all he said." I roll my eyes seeing Leo quote 'things'. 

"Aye! Don't be 'that guy'"

"What guy?"

"The guy who's always sus about their partner. I'm sure he has something  important to deal with." He shrugs "should we go to the.... " I said pointing towards the auditorium.

While heading towards the auditorium Leo kept talking about random things. His new bag collection, Harry Styles's next concert, Austin, and whatnot.

We almost reach the auditorium when we see Jasper and Chloe approaching us. Chloe and Jasper wore matching colours and are looking stunning. Jasper wore a baby pink shirt casually untucked in the pants and dark blue jeans.

Chloe wore a blush pink spaghetti straps side slit long dress. As we walk closer Chloe stretches her arms out to hug Leo and Leo hugs her back. "We missed you."

Leo lets out a small chuckle.

Chloe then looks at me and seeing me with a plate of mac and cheese and not Liam, gave it all away. "So he didn't...."

"Nope." I said looking the other way.

"Uh, we should go get some snacks." Said Leo before they all walked towards the field to get some food. I told them that I'll save them a seat.

I go back inside the auditorium and to the seat I was previously at. It's a nice position to look at everyone from. 'Wanna be yours' by Arctic Monkeys was being played. Everyone's slow-dancing with their partner, under the beautiful blue dim lights. Some of them looked at each other's eyes, while some of them kissed, some just hugged each other tightly while dancing.

I shove a spoonful of macaroni in my mouth. 

The song felt extra painful. I've always liked the Arctic Monkey's vibes. Makes you feel high even without the 'stuff'. And right now, absence of Liam was starting to feel even more heart aching. 

But it also felt nice. the song brought back the good times with Liam. The music was like a cool breeze on a summer night, it gave occasional shivers but also flattered my skin with its touch. I close my eyes to feel it better.

But what I didn't see coming was the memory of Liam. Again and yet again. Or maybe I saw it coming and wanted to feel his presence.

"Dreaming about him?" Chloe's voice snaps me out of the dream.

I sigh. Chloe's back with popcorn and French fries.

"Where's Leo and Jasper?"

"They're at the gaming corner. Jasper saw a baseball ball court and dragged Leo with him." Chloe, dips a French fry in the cheese dip. I just nod.

Then we both gave away points to the best to worst couple, best to worst dancers and then best to worst outfits.

We basically judged them.

"Hey you wanna grab a drink?" I asked Chloe.

"Evelyn inviting me to drink?! Hell yeah." Says Chloe giggling and lightly punching my arm.

"But not too much okay? It didn't end well the last time you got drunk." Chloe raised her hand in the air. Surrendering.

We both head towards the table that had different kinds of cocktails.

The guy serving everyone drinks handed me and Chloe a cup filled with something. I looked up at him after smelling the drink. It smelled like some kind of fruit punch.

"You'll like it. I promise. Try it." Showing my trust in a total stranger I take a sip. And my eyes widened in surprise.

Chloe got the same drink as well. "Woh! Who are you!? That tasted like heaven!" Seriously, who is this guy? I've never seen him before. But he made a hell of a drink. That is for sure.

"Evelyn." I heard my name being called from behind.

"Austin." Chloe and I turn back.

"My boyfriend took away your date." Said Chloe pointing towards the game zone.

"Uh.... Jasper told me that he was with you guys" Chloe looked at me and so did I. And then we both looked at Austin.

"Well I'm sure he's around" I tell Austin reassuring him.

Just when I see Jasper approaching us. He comes and stands beside Chloe, lazily placing his hand around Chloe's shoulder. He had a little bit of sweat on his forehead. that tells he had fun in the baseball court.

"Hey!" He huffed, taking a deeper breath than usual. "Where's Leo?"

"Last time I checked you dragged him to the baseball area." Said Chloe tilting her head showing the way towards the baseball area.

"Yeah I did, but then Austin called and Leo went towards the main hallway to receive him"

"Yeah I did call him and he asked me to wait under the big banner in the main hallway" said Austin, lines started to form between his eyebrows. 

There was a moment of silence among us, and lots of confusion. I wasn't having a very good feeling about all this. Leo has been in a very distant space for the past few days. His behaviour for the past few days was what worried me even more.

But with the reaction on Austin and Jasper's face, I didn't say anything that would worsen the situation. "I'm sure he's somewhere around. Wait. I'll give him a call."

I tried my best to stop my hands from shaking, it happens to me when I'm anxious. I take my phone out from my purse and call him. It took around seven to eight seconds before it started ringing.

It kept ringing. I was not even looking up at either one of their faces. Austin was worried as hell. Jasper felt a bit guilty because he took Leo and then didn't accompany him when he left.

"Um.... so he didn't pick it up" I said, while I kept looking at my phone. But I couldn't have kept my eyes down forever. Austin's already looking at me searching for an answer, expecting me to say something about what to do next.

"Austin you don't have to worry. He must be somewhere in the school. With so much noise around he might not have released his phone's ringing." I tell him, hiding my own anxiety and consoling Austin.

"Really? That's the worst lie I've ever heard. You of all people should know that if Leo's phone rings, not only him, but everyone around him can hear his phone. Dude has the loudest music as his ringtone." Austin points out the most obvious fact, proving how much of a bad liar I am.

"Guys....  now I'm worried. Leo has been acting very strange for the past few days. And you guys know that. He wasn't active on Instagram, skipping school, ignoring parties and every non-Leo thing possible." Chloe's right. This doesn't look fine at all. "Maybe we could split and look around for him." 

"Okay, Austin and I will search the washrooms and the top floor, Chloe and Evelyn take the ground and the 1st floor then meet us on the second floor." says Jasper. We all head to our allotted direction.

Chloe and I start looking around on the ground, both of us are wearing heels so we can't run fast. With much difficulty we cover almost the entire ground. We walk through the crowd. Looking around, my hands were sweaty by now.

I find one of our classmates, filling his mouth with cakes. "Chloe," I ask Chloe to stop so that I could ask the guy about Leo. "Hey, Chris, have seen Leo, around?"

He tried to finish his cake that was blocking words from coming out of his mouth "woh. You two look amazing." He says, stretching his hands out and pointing towards Chloe and I. We chuckle, nervously. "Oh and, no. Didn't see Leo"

"Oh ohkay." As soon as I tell him that, he takes another big bite from the cake and smiles.

We had covered the entire ground, but didn't get a sight of Leo.

We head towards the 1st floor, Chloe and I ask a few more people if they've seen Leo. No one saw him. Or maybe they did, but didn't pay much attention. Everyone was pretty busy playing, eating and buying stuff.

I notice mum near her stall. I don't plan on approaching her. I know she won't be of any help. She seems pretty busy, not that I'd go, even if she wasn't.

"Evelyn! We should ask your mom if she saw Leo."

"What? No. That's a bad idea. Why would you wanna do that?" I'm quite sure that she hasn't moved from her shop. 

"uh....why...." she quickly twitches her eyes, and resumes "anyway we'll talk about that later. Leo is priority now. You know how fascinated Leo is when it comes to bags. Maybe he stopped by."

That's true though. "Fine. Let's go" and I knew that she'd be more than happy to know that Liam didn't show up today.
