Chapter 9-Celeste
Ray looked upward and to his left before relieving another heavy sigh; his eyes held a mixture of sorrow and anger that I hope I will never experience. I hate that we are having him access uncomfortable memories, but we don't have a choice.
"Everyone was working on a computer virus that could infiltrate any electronic device; we would be forced to work for days at a time until they inject a clear liquid into our arm to force us to sleep," Ray stated with a solemn expression on his face.
"Is there any way to stop the virus once it is released," Yuki asked while I picked up the fork and began to eat my eggs. Ray shook his head with a sad expression on his face.
"They are making us design the virus to be incapable of being destroyed or erased," Ray stated, "Even the best hackers in the world would be unable to escape it."
"Secrets will be released, and people can be blackmailed if that virus is released," I stated with a serious expression on my face.
"Do you remember anything about the people that held you captive," Yuki asked Ray.
"They only wore black, wore a mask to cover their face, and used a voice modifier," Ray stated, "I couldn't identify them since the only thing I know is their approximate height."
"I guess identifying your kidnappers is out of the question," I stated to Ray.
"Did you research the background of the staff of the school," Yuki asked me.
"Actually, I didn't," I replied.
"Let's go then," Yuki stated to me while standing up from his seat.
"Can't we finish eating first," I complained.
"Do you have somewhere to hide for now," Yuki asked Ray while ignoring my question.
"I just want to get as far away from here as possible," Ray stated, "I'll be fine; I am a hacker after all, so I can make some money somehow."
"We should at least make sure you are far away from this place," I stated with concern.
"I'll be fine," Ray stated, "I'm already grateful for everything you have done for me so far."
"Now can we go," Yuki whined.
"What's your problem with letting me finish a meal," I stated with a pout.
"The fact that we need to solve an important mystery," Yuki smirked at me while pulling my left arm to force me to stand. Yuki then dragged me out of the restaurant after placing fifty dollars onto the table.
"Keep the change," Yuki said to the waitress before dragging me out the restaurant door.
"Can you stop dragging me," I complained to Yuki. Yuki then lessened his grip on his arm and smiled at me.
"Sorry," Yuki said to me while smiling.
"How do you even have so much money," I asked Yuki.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Yuki stated while smirking at me.
"You place a large amount of money and tell the waitress to keep the rest after the expenses of our meal at least three times a week," I replied.
"Are you jealous I give a lot of money to the waitress as a tip," Yuki asked me while smirking; he really likes to annoy me.
"Just answer the question," I snapped.
"Chill, don't bite my head off," Yuki replied with a smirk, "My parents own a company that is worth millions of dollars."
"Was that so hard to answer," I replied while walking past him. Before I could walk out of his reach, Yuki grabbed the wrist of my left arm with his right arm and pulled me towards him. Yuki then closed his eyes and quickly placed his lips onto mine before pulling away, opening his eyes, and smirking. I was probably blushing right now since my cheeks feel a bit warmer than usual.
"I knew you liked me," Yuki stated with a smirk.
"Shouldn't we talk about how we are going to save the missing students," I asked while Yuki released his grip on my wrist and smirked. He knew I was embarrassed.
"So, how are we going to find that secret room only fourth-year students that are ranked first are shown," Yuki asked me.
"We could put a tracker on the teachers," I suggested.
"Something tells me they would notice a tracker in their bag or on their clothing," Yuki stated.
"Do you have any ideas then," I asked Yuki.
"We could implement an encryption onto our homework that we could use to track them," Yuki suggested.
"They are expert hackers, they wouldn't fall for that," I stated, "Implementing a code into our homework to track them would also reveal our identity."
"Then what are we going to do," Yuki asked me.
"I guess we go to my original plan," I stated to Yuki, "We have to wait for someone to be kidnapped."
"But we are risking someone else's safety," Yuki stated, "We should look at another possibility."
"I don't think there is another possibility," I said sadly.
"What if we find incriminating evidence on the teachers of the school," Yuki suggested.
"We could try, but I don't know if that would work," I replied.
"Let's just hope that it does," Yuki stated. We walked in silence until we reached the front of the school. Yuki opened the door for me to enter the school, but I just stopped with my eyes open in terror.
"I just realized I left the door to my room unlocked," I stated. Yuki replicated my expression as we looked at each other before bolting towards my dorm. I quickly opened the door to my dorm and noticed my room was a disaster; my computer was destroyed, Yuki's computer was destroyed, my clothes were scattered on the floor with all the drawers to my dresser opened, and my blanket and pillow was thrown onto the floor. The interesting part, however, was that the USB containing Yuki's homework, and the USB containing my homework, was taken. Ray was used to distract us while our enemy searched my room. We were deceived, but why would they want the USBs? I then realized that our final assignments are part of their plan; we were helping them create the computer virus they desperately wanted. Before I could turn around to run, I felt a sharp pain in the side of my neck before my vision turned to black and I lost consciousness. We were cornered before we even realized it.
