Chapter 8- Celeste
I recognized the victim as Ray Chang; he went missing a couple of years ago. Yuki and I jumped from our seats and bolted out the door of my dorm. We dashed out the double-sided door and stopped at the front of the school.
"Where did he run to," Yuki asked me.
"How should I know," I replied in a monotone voice.
I then saw something white in the corner of my left eye; I turned my head to the left to see the faint color of white. Luckily, Ray didn't run too far.
"He's over there," I stated while pointing to my left. Yuki and I dashed towards Ray; However, Yuki was faster than me and tackled him to the ground. Yuki probably shouldn't have tackled him since we were on a cement pavement; Yuki also shouldn't have tackled him because he looked malnourished.
"Let go of me," Ray yelled, "I'm not going back there!"
"Calm down, we only want to help," I stated.
Ray then pushed Yuki off him and frantically stood with fear plastered on his face. Yuki pushed himself off the ground and stood calmly with a stoic expression on his face.
"Why should I trust you," Ray snapped.
"How about we go to a restaurant and buy you some food, it's a couple of blocks away," Yuki suggested. Ray glared at us before reluctantly nodding his head; what happened that made him so scared?
We walked into the restaurant and sat in the same booth we did last time; Yuki sat on my left while Ray sat across from us. The blue-eyed girl with short blond hair in a brown dress and white apron and shoes came to take our order.
"The usual breakfast for you two I presume," the waitresses asked while smiling and staring at me and Yuki. This waitress has served us for so long, she memories our orders for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
"Yes, thank you," Yuki stated with a stoic expression on his face.
"What about you," the waitress asked Ray.
"Eggs with toasted white bread and bacon," Ray stated with a stoic expression on his face.
"What would you like to drink," the waitress asked Ray with a smile.
"Water with no ice," Ray stated with a stoic expression on his face.
The waitress walked away while Ray glared at me and Yuki. You can feel the tension in the room; the silence due to the minimal amount of business the restaurant acquires adds more tension instead of relieving it.
"What happened to you when you were kidnapped," I asked.
"I was sitting in my room, working on my assignment, until my vision started to blur, and I blacked out," Ray stated with a stoic tone in his voice.
"Was there anyone else in your room," I asked Ray; he responded by shaking his head. that means a gas was put into his room to cause him to lose consciousness while the unknown subject entered and kidnapped him, but that means his door was unlocked or they have the key to his room.
"Did you let anyone have the key to your room," Yuki asked Ray.
"No," Ray responded with a stoic tone in his voice.
"Do you remember if your door was unlocked before you were kidnapped," I asked Ray; he responded by shaking his head. Along with the previous information we have gathered, unless the crime was caused by someone that can pick a lock, this must have been done by staff member; they're the only ones that would have access to the keys for student dormitories.
"What happened when you woke up," I asked Ray.
"All I remember is that I was thrown into a cement cell with metal bars," Ray stated, "Today, the door to my cell was left and I dashed out."
"Where in the school did you escape from," Yuki asked him.
"Where the principal's office was," Ray stated. As far as I know, the school didn't have a principal.
"The school doesn't have a principal," Yuki replied.
"Yes, they do," Ray replied, "His name is Finick Geist."
"Let's get back on track, where is the principal's office," I asked Ray.
"It's the hallway where the teacher's sleep," Ray responded; that area is restricted access with thumb and eye recognition software and scanners; students aren't able to access that area of the school. No one except the teachers knows where the hallway is, but it seems that Ray knows. There isn't even security camera footage for that part of the building; meaning something terrible is happening and someone doesn't want us to know.
"How do you know where that is," Yuki asked Ray as the waitress walked towards us with our order. A white plate with eggs and sausage with toasted white bread is placed in front of me and Yuki with a glass of water while a plate of Eggs with toasted white bread and bacon is placed in front of Ray with a glass of water. A knife and a fork are placed in front of each of us before the waitress walked away.
"People that are ranked first in their last year of attending the school are shown where it is," Ray stated while using his fork in his right hand to eat his eggs.
"Do you know where it is," I asked Ray. Ray nodded his head with a stoic expression on his face.
"Are you willing to show us," Yuki asked him.
"No," Yuki replied while glaring at us.
"Why not," I asked Ray. I can see the anger in Ray's eyes, and I can't blame him for being angry; I would be angry if I was him.
"I am not risking my life to return back to that place," Ray snapped before taking another bite of his eggs. Something tells me he is not going to be easy to convince.
"What happened while you were kidnapped," I asked Ray. Ray looked onto his plate and had a depressed expression on his face. Something tells me we are about to hear a horrible story.
"I guess I should tell you guys everything," Ray stated with a depressed tone in his voice; Yuki and I nodded our heads while Ray relieved a heavy sigh. It's time to hear the fate of the missing students.
