Chapter 7- Celeste
I relieved a heavy sigh after waiting forty minutes for Yuki to finish his assignment; he needs to help me solve the case about the missing students. I went onto the security camera footage on my computer to see that nothing was happening; everything seemed normal. I guess I should work on a different case since I can't find anything suspicious occurring on the security cameras.
I hacked into the police files again to see if there were any cases that required my assistance. I found a case that involved the kidnapping and murder of children in California. Each child that was kidnapped was dumped in a random ditch or abandoned on the side of a secluded road. There wasn't any motive to kill the children, nor was there any reason to kidnap them. There was nothing in common between the daily lives of the children or their families; it seems the children are chosen at random. The children did not look similar, they did not go to the same school, they have the different friend groups, and they didn't share any medical history. It seems that the all the family's history, however, shared a commonality; all the families had a male family member involved with the Granadale High School baseball team in the twentieth century; the school shut down in 1942. All the members of the baseball team died, so I couldn't ask them any question; I could talk to their descendants to see if they know anything, but I might be able to discover something useful by looking at their records.
I looked at the record and discovered that one of the members of the basketball team, named Cody Silavan, was sent to the hospital due to severe injuries in a fight with his other team mates; the records also say that Cody Silavan constantly had detention from enacting pranks and dropped out of school when he was sixteen years old. Something didn't add up... Teenagers don't act rebellious unless there is a reason, right?
I hacked into the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Behavioral Analysis Unit to see if I could obtain any additionally information on Cody Silavan or the Granadale High School baseball team; according to the documents, Cody's father, Ryan Silavan, was arrested for domestic abuse. I searched Ryan Silavan through the FBI records and discovered he was unemployed and was an alcoholic. In addition, Cody Silavan had a living descendant that is thirty-five years old, named Rydan Silavan, that recently got into a car crash and was released from the hospital a couple of weeks ago, which is when the murders started to occur. Additionally, according to Rydan's file, he was abused by his parents and was arrested for domestic abuse. However, if Rydan is the person committing the murders, why didn't he target the adults? He could have targeted the children because they were an easier target; however, there must be another reason, right? Additionally, a car crash doesn't necessarily mean the driver would have damaged to their brain.
"A string of murders, huh," Yuki stated while glancing at my screen before continuing his assignment.
"Yeah," I stated with a monotone voice.
"Did you solve it yet," Yuki asked me while typing on his computer.
"I might have," I stated.
"What's the problem," Yuki asked me; I guess he can tell I'm confused about something.
"Why would someone only target the children and leave the adults alone," I asked Yuki.
"Because they specifically want the kids," Yuki stated while looking at me and stopping his progress on his assignment.
"Why would they specifically want the kids though," I asked Yuki.
"Describe the suspect," Yuki stated.
"Thirty-five-year-old male that recently got into a car crash," I stated with a stoic tone, "Descendant of a teenager that was domestically abused."
"It seems you are missing a piece of the puzzle," Yuki stated.
"I know that, but I don't know what that is," I stated.
I looked more into Rydan Silavan and discovered that he has a fifteen-year-old son, named Kian; it looks like Kian disappeared after the car crash. The most important detail, however, is that a black backpack was found in the front seat of the car that Rydan crashed with school supplies inside; however, Kian was nowhere to be found. Additionally, by hacking into the hospital database, I discovered that Kian had schizophrenia. It seems like Kian was in the car when it crashed, which would relate every piece of evidence in the case.
I typed up a document to convict Kian Silavan, including written explanation for all the evidence and data, and sent it to the police using an anonymous email that I coded to be untraceable.
"I finally finished the case," I stated while stretching.
"Well, I'm finished the assignment," Yuki stated with pride.
"Congratulations, you achieved an amazing accomplishment," I stated with sarcasm while rolling my eyes.
"I know right," Yuki stated while smiling at me.
"You do know that I was being sarcastic, right," I asked him.
"Did you know I was being narcissistic," he stated with a smirk.
"Touché," I replied with a smirk.
"I will count that as your compliment of calling me amazing," Yuki stated with a smirk while I rolled my eyes.
"Should we look at the security camera footage of the school now," I asked Yuki.
"Sure," he stated with a smile. I then looked at the time and noticed that it was almost ten o'clock in the morning.
"Should we get something to eat first," I asked Yuki; we skipped breakfast and I needed food.
"We'll survive," Yuki stated with a chuckle. I then went onto the security camera footage of the school that was on my computer. I used my right arrow key to look through different security cameras until I noticed that someone was running away from the school in one them; it looked like one of the missing students, except he wore a white shirt and pant without any shoes instead of the clothing stated in the report. Where did he come from? Where was he kidnapped to? Why did he decide to run away now?
