Chapter 43.

Our love is chaotic and I wouldn't have it any other way.

~~~
"You think she's dead?"
"How can you even say that?"
"She hasn't moved in over a day."
"That's because she fainted not because she's dead."
"Tell her to wake up."
"That's now how this works!"
"Don't yell at me."
"Don't talk stupid then."
"Tell that to your face."
"Both of you, shut up!"
There was a few second silence after which Evan spoke again. "Your face is stupid."
"That's it! Get out." Zivah snapped at him.
"You get out."
"She's my best friend!" Zivah retorted.
"Both of you, get out!" Calvin said, clearly frustrated.
I had been awake from just two minutes and I was already annoyed with their bickering, poor Calvin how was he hearing this all day?
I cleared my throat, letting them know I was awake.
"The dead can speak!" Evan exclaimed in a whisper.
"She is not dead." I heard Zivah slap his back.
I slowly opened my eyes, adjusting to the brightness in the room and the three familiar faces right on top of my face. I blinked at the proximity. "Back off." My voice was husky and my throat pained a little. "Water." I gasped out.
Zivah immediately grabbed the glass from the bedside table and helped me get up and drink it. After a few gulps I nodded in satisfaction.
"You should really stop fainting." Evan said, smiling softly at me.
"Yes as if it's in my control." I sniggered.
Evan rolled his eyes. "Woke up from dead and still sassy. Didn't you see the white light of goodness?"
I narrowed my eyes at Evan. "No I saw the red danger sign of evil."
"Yes your original home, the hell."
I gritted my teeth. "Get out!"
Zivah patted my shoulder lightly. "Its fine, he cried."
I raised my eyebrows in surprise. "Really? Please, please tell me there's a video of it."
"Everyone cried." Calvin spoke up.
"Great so no one took any video?" I pouted.
"I can't believe I cried for you, you hellish woman." Evan mocked but I could see the relief in his eyes.
I smiled at him, opening my arms. "Come here you big oaf!"
Evan grinned back. "I am pretty sure you meant Olaf." He hugged me and the warm embrace was deeply welcoming. "I like warm hugs." Evan muttered.
I heard Zivah sniffle.
"Come on Ziv." I said, motioning her to join the hug.
She grinned, wiping her eyes as she hugged us.
"Group hug!" Calvin yelled, joining us in the hug.
"I love you all." I murmured, feeling content.
"I love you too." All three voices rang in my ears, making me chuckle.
"And we are here for you, no matter what. Just don't faint again." Zivah said. "And about what Ray said-"
"I don't want to talk about it." I said. It was something I definitely didn't want to remember ever again.
"We'll always be there for you." Evan promised. "Even when you act stupid."
"Me too." Calvin chipped in.
Just then the door opened and someone cleared their throat. The hug broke and everyone stepped away.
The nurse raised her eyebrows at us. "There's a patient here if you could hold your physical displays of affection that would be great."
Evan nodded, looking down at the floor. "Yes ma'am."
The nurse smiled and walked towards me, checking the vitals. After a few minutes, she smiled at me. "You are fine, it was mostly dehydration so please maintain a healthy diet. The doctor will write you a prescription."
I nodded gratefully.
After the nurse disappeared I turned to Zivah, asking the question I didn't want to know the answer to. "How is Alex?"
Zivah looked at Evan and Calvin and none of them spoke.
I hated the suspense, it made me think of the worst scenarios. "Someone tell me how he is!"
Zivah flinched at the volume of my tone. "He's two doors away."
I immediately got off the bed, stumbling a little as I fought the weakness I felt.
"Room 3104." Zivah said as I neared the door.
I paused and turned back, afraid to ask. "Does- does he want to see me?"
Zivah smiled reassuringly. "Find it out yourself."
I nodded and crossed my fingers. As I walked to his door, I found myself whispering. "Please be fine. Please be fine. Please be fine."
I contemplated on if I should knock the door or just open it. I decided to knock.
"Sofia." I said in shock, staring at Alex's sister who opened the door.
"Oh dear." She looked at me and pulled me in for a tight hug.
I hugged her back after the initial shock.
"How are you? Are you okay? I was just going to come to see you." Her worrying tone somehow made me happier. I was afraid that Alex's family would hate me.
"I am fine. Thanks." I said, smiling at her.
Sofia nodded. "He's awake, I'll let you two be." She patted my shoulder lovingly and walked away.
I took a deep breath before walking into the room.
Alex was there lying on the bed with heavy medical equipment next to him. I just hoped it meant he was well and not paralyzed waist down.
Taking small steps I neared his bed, I could feel his eyes scanning my every move but I kept my eyes on the ground. "Hi." I squeaked out.
"Do you know what is worse than getting stabbed and having an operation?"
I blinked and looked up at the sudden question. "What?"
"Knowing that you are in the hospital too."
I didn't know what to say.
"I was scared."
"I was scared too." I admitted.
"Yes, I heard. You cried so hard, the birds flew away."
I shrugged a shoulder, sitting on the chair next to his bed. "Are you- are you okay?"
"You mean if I can walk?"
I played with my fingers in distress. "Yes."
Alex sighed, lifting the bedsheet off his body. His legs looked fine but they didn't move.
"So? Can you walk?"
He moved his toes and then his legs and I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. "Oh thank God!" the gratification that washed over me was very welcoming.
"I am fine Myra." Alex answered. "I do have a spine injury but nothing severe. He was just playing with your mind. That's what he does."
I swallowed and nodded, not able to stop the tears that flowed.
"Why are you crying?" his tone was worried.
I wiped away the tears quickly. "These are happy tears."
"Oh baby." Alex grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him, hugging me. I found myself crying more at his comforting embrace.
He lightly ran his fingers through my hair. "It's fine. It's over. It's not your fault please remember that."
I nodded, running my hands over his chest, wanting make sure that he wasn't hurt.
"Wow. What are you doing?" Alex hissed, flinching back.
I froze. "Making sure you are fine."
He closed his eyes and breathed out. "Don't – don't touch me like that."
I blushed in embarrassment realizing what he meant. "Sorry about that."
Alex sighed, taking my hand in his. "Myra I love you."
"I love you too." I whispered back. "And I want you to know-"
Just then the door opened and Alex glared at the door. "Get out!"
Seb mumbled a sorry and shut the door back.
"Yes you were saying?"
I smiled and continued. "I want you to know that I forgive you, for trying to protect me. Because I realized that I would done the same thing too. I would have chosen to break up with you instead of putting you in the way of danger. And when Ray said all those words, I got overwhelmed, I got scared that I might lose you and I just couldn't let that happen. So let's forget that Ray even exists, we have each other and that's what matters."
Alex smiled back, kissing me on the forehead. "Thank you for understanding. And thank you for not giving up on me. You will never lose me Myra. These past months have been a disaster and I was hoping that once I get out of the hospital, we could go somewhere, just the two of us."
"That sounds perfect."
Alex smirked. "You know you said you have that red lingerie, maybe instead of me wearing it, I could take it off you."
My voice turned raspy. "Okay."
His finger brushed up my arm, giving me goosebumps. "And then I would eat my desert, melted chocolate, whipped cream and you. I have handcuffs-"
Just then the door opened and I glared at the door. "Get out!"
Zivah mumbled a sorry and shut the door. I heard her whisper to others. "I think they need some privacy for a few hours."
I ignored her and turned to Alex. "Handcuffs?" I prompted.
Alex's smirk widened as he relished the feeling he was giving me. "Now now Ms. Collins. I would love to use handcuffs and a flogger but I don't have a girlfriend."
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Don't play smart with me." I placed a hasty kiss on lips. "If you think you can get away from me, you are so wrong. You are stuck with me for the rest of your life."
"Do you mean stuck inside you?"
Rolling my eyes I smiled at his innuendo. "If you are lucky."
He pecked me on the lips. "I am lucky."
I smiled at Alex, glad that after everything he was still here with me, loving me. "I am sorry." I said.
"About what?"
I shrugged a shoulder. For letting Ray get into my head, for making you a part of all this, for hacking into your company the first time, for not trusting you. The list was endless. "Everything." I replied.
Alex took my face in his hands, making me look right into his blue eyes. "You don't have to apologize. You never have to apologize. Even when you burn the bread or forget our anniversary. I love you and that means I love you at your best and I love you even more at your worst."
He kissed my forehead. "Ray is caught by the police so there is nothing for you to worry about. He's been sentenced to lifetime prison with no exceptions. Plus I shot one leg and Athena shot the other so the chances of him walking are really slim. He won't be escaping again, I'll make sure of that. His part in our lives is done, it's just us and those idiots who have their ears pressed to the door."
"Dammit! He knows." Evan whispered.
"Shut up idiot." Seb snapped back.
I chuckled softly.
Alex kissed my cheeks. "I am not saying that we won't have our ups and downs, we will. But I promise that even if we fight, I'll come back to your every night. Because at the end of the day, you are the only one I want to see before I sleep. You are the only one I want to see as soon as I wake up."
I sniffed, trying to control the tears that wanted to fall.
Alex kissed me on the nose. "I want to spend my life with you Myra. You make me happy, you make me feel, you make me have faith in love and that's something I lost a long time back. So even where everything's a turmoil and we might be lost in this messy world – I promise to hold your hand, no matter how wrinkled and old it is."
I let the tears fall.
Alex kissed the corner of my lips. "Our love is chaotic and I wouldn't have it any other way. You are my happily ever after."
I sniffed my nose. "I love you."
Alex kissed me, the feel of his soft lips on mine was filled with warmth and love. "I love you too."
Our lips moved in sync and it was a blend of promises that would last forever and passion that would never disappear.
I leaned back a little. "So are we still moving in together?"
"Jeez woman. Can you not control yourself?"
I pressed my lips to his ears, enjoying the breathy reaction I got from him. "I can't control myself anymore." I kissed his earlobe. "If it were up to me, I'd take you right here, right now."
Alex cleared his throat. "You know they can hear you right?" I moved his eyes at the shut door.
I bit back a smile and moaned. "Oh Alex yes right there. Ah."
"Holy shit! Are they doing it?" I heard Zivah whisper.
"We shouldn't listen." Athena replied. I heard some snuffling.
"You like that baby?" Alex said in a husky tone.
We were both trying hard to stop ourselves from laughing.
"I do not want to hear my brother have sex." Sofia's voice came.
"Then move. You are occupying too much space." Seb said.
I moaned louder. "Ah Alex. Oh God! Yes. Ah!!"
"Should we call the nurse? I don't think this is healthy. He just had an operation." Zivah said.
"Shut up and listen." Evan snapped back.
I put my face in my palms completely embarrassed. "Why are we friends with them?" I whispered to Alex.
He winked at me, slowly getting off the bed. We took small steps towards the door.
"Can you hear anything?" Athena murmured.
"Yes someone just said can you hear anything." Evan replied.
There was a sound of someone slapping and then a yelp of pain from Evan.
Alex and I looked at each other and then smiled softly. We twisted the door handle and opened the door.
Not surprised to see a pile of humans fall face front from the impact.
Six faces looked at us with guilty and humiliated expressions.
"I told them to stop." Athena said, getting up and dusting her jeans.
"It was your idea!" Evan snapped back.
"Do you not want sex tonight?" Athena hissed.
Evan narrowed his eyes at her and then smiled. "My baby! You look so beautiful."
"Seb started it." Zivah prompted.
"Do you not want sex tonight?" Seb stared at Zivah.
Zivah rolled her eyes and lightly patted his shoulder. "Tsk. Tsk. You think you have control over that? That's sweet."
We all laughed at Seb's sullen expression.
All of us went back into the room. Alex got into the bed, I sat next to him resting my head on his shoulder.
Sofia sat on the chair next to the bed while all others stood around.
Seb clapped on Alex's back. "Get well soon bro, you can't dance to Beyoncé with wobbly legs."
Evan cackled loudly. "I should film it and post it on YouTube, 'Billionaire dances to Beyoncé'"
Alex glared at Evan. "Then I'll make a video of the same Billionaire hitting you so hard you forget who Beyoncé is."
Evan sobered up at the threat. "Get your man on a lease." He said to me.
I rolled my eyes at him. "You started it." I turned to Athena. "Get your man on a lease."
Athena shrugged a shoulder. "I have given up hope. He cannot be cured."
"That's my woman!" Evan cheered, swiftly kissing Athena on the lips.
We booed and awed at the same time.
Calvin took out a bottle and opened it. "Let's drink to friendship." He said and took a sip promptly spitting it all out.
Evan guffawed like a winner. "I told you I'll take revenge. Haha sucker!"
"What's in it?" Zivah took the bottle as Calvin screamed and ran into the washroom to wash his mouth. She sniffed the bottle and winced. "Eww Evan!"
"What's it?" I questioned.
She passed the bottle to me. I sniffed the water and glared at Evan. "Soap water? Really Evan?"
Evan grinned as if extremely proud of the idea. "Not just soap water, washing dish soap water."
"Eww!" all of us said, shaking our heads at the gleeful Evan.
"Seriously Athena? Him?" I raised my eyebrows at Athena pointing at Evan.
Athena sighed, shrugging. "The heart wants what it wants."
"That's right bitches! Now behave or all of you will be drinking the same water this week." Evan mockingly warned.
Alex looked at Seb. "You cover his mouth. I'll stab him."
Seb nodded. "Sounds like a plan. Let him sleep tonight."
Calvin entered from the washroom. "I'll help you guys."
Evan stared at them. "See ganging up on me like always!"
I chuckled as the banter continued. The boys started arguing, Sofia, Zivah and Athena ignored them as they started talking about going to shopping. And I smiled as I took the scene in.
Even in the hospital we somehow managed to make it one of the happiest memories ever.
I leaned my head on Alex's shoulder enjoying as his finger unconsciously rubbed against my arm. Everything was fine now.
Alex was good, with some medicines he would be fit and fine in a few weeks.
I was good provided I maintain a healthy diet.
Athena wasn't a traitor.
Evan was a stupid yet funny ass.
Zivah was still my best friend.
Seb was still Alex's best friend. (No matter how much they both denied it.)
Calvin was now a part of our group.
Sofia was there for her big brother.
Ray was back in prison – desperate, lonely, hurt and hopefully to die soon.
And most importantly Diana wasn't here – that claiming-I-stole-her-boyfriend bitch.
I was ready for whatever life was going to throw at us now. Because I knew, whatever it was, no matter how difficult I would get past it because I had these crazy people to help me get through it. To support me and to love me.
And I wouldn't want it any other way.
Maybe I would get nightmares of Ray sometimes but my reality was a beautiful dream that I pledged to live happily. What was done is done, I can't blame myself, I won't.
"Myra?"
I blinked at Alex's voice. "Yes?"
"What are you thinking?"
I shrugged. "About how happy I am."
"Because I'm in a hospital gown and you can feel me up?"
There were a chorus of groans as I blushed from mortification. "Shut up."
They didn't.
