“You finally came.” I nodded, looking away in guilt.
“I’m sorry you had to see me this way… it’s been rough. Can’t tell if it’s because of who I am or who I choose to be with.”
My eyes trailed to her trembling fingers that fumbled with the hem of her shirt.
“It has got to be me, I’m the ghost no one but you can see. Not sure how anyone can come to hate you.”
Her face was then the definition of confusion. She stared at me, her head tilting until her lips parted just slightly. “A ghost?” I nodded and she let out a small laugh while shaking her head. “This makes much more sense now.”
I flinched as she stood so suddenly, her fingers reached out and for a moment I felt as if she really would be able to even brush her fingertips to my skin. But they went right through me, disappointment followed but I didn’t show.
“You speak the truth. Your name?”
“Atticus… Atticus Fletcher.”
“Atticus… I’m Quinn,” she reached out a hand before putting it back to her side. But I didn’t notice, instead I felt . . . almost alive?
My name, that’s my name…
