————————————————————————
Philip's POV:
I stared at Y/N Jefferson from across the hall. It was a Friday night and my family was invited to a 'party' that the Jefferson's planned. It's not really a party though, more of a political thing.
I was confused why we came though, not that I don't want to come! It's just...out family HATES the Jeffersons well, at least my dad does. So it kinda confuses me that we came, probably because dad wanted an excuse to argue with Mr. Jefferson.
"There!" My dad grunted, pointing to the Jefferson family. He grabbed mom, Angie, and me and dragged us towards them. Looks like Thomas noticed us because he was doing the same thing to his family, shoving them to us.
We all met in the center of the room. "Well, well, well what do we have here, darlin'?" Thomas said motioning to no one in particular, "Ah, the Hamiltons, What are you possibly doing here?" He said smirking. I knew he just wanted to tick my dad off. I saw my dad in the corner of my eye and it looked like Thomas' 'plan' was working. Dad's hands were curled up into fists and you could obviously see the irritation spread onto his face.
"What do you mean Jefferson?! You invited us here!" Dad yelled at the man. Jefferson just shrugged and said, "Yes I did invite you, just so you could meet our family. I think we deserve to know who our rival family is," Jefferson finished. He moved out of the way and revealed his family. My dad did the same.
"We already know your wife, and you know mine so, here's my eldest," Jefferson said signaling to Y/N. "And here's our eldest!" My dad said pushing me in front. I stared at Y/N her face was red and she was looking down. She peeked at me once and I could see her gorgeous eyes that I could get lost in any day. "And here's our youngest" Dad said showing off Angie. The family kept introducing themselves. The tension was awkward during the whole introduction.
"Now kids," the fathers from both family's started, "we forbid you from ever talking to anyone in the Hamilton/Jefferson family!" The two fathers finished telling their own family's. I frowned looking at the elegant girl from the Jefferson family. Angie and me nodded and the Jefferson kids nodded as well. "Good! Now enjoy the party," Jefferson finally said then walked away. "Well me will!" Dad said and left Angie and me alone with the Jefferson kids.
I tried introducing myself properly but Angie stopped me, "You know what dad said!" She glared, "No talking to the Jeffersons!" I sighed. With Angie here I couldn't be able to talk to Y/N. I've never really met her but from what I've heard she's amazing, gorgeous, and intelligent. The whole package! That's probably why Thomas was so strict.
We stood there for a good minute when Angie got bored and left. I sighed a sigh of relief as I also saw the other Jeffersons leave, leaving Y/N alone with me. She was about to walk away when i stopped her.
"Hey! You're Y/N right?" I asked, grabbing her hand slowly. She nodded and politely said, "I-I'm sorry sir, but I'm forbidden to talk with you..." She said pulling away from my touch. "I-I know but please
Y/N," I said addressing her by her first name. She looked at me, her face still a deep red and hesitantly nodded.
I grabbed her hand and led her to a gazebo outside the house. "I-I'm sorry sir, but I-I don't know you well..." she said softly. I smiled, "I'm Philip, Philip Hamilton," I grinned at her. She shyly looked up at me, "C-can me ignore the last names, please?" She asked me hopefully. I nodded.
We talked and talked. I enjoyed her company and it seemed like she enjoyed mine as well. I smirked at her, "If my dad would let me, I'd be married to you in less than a minute," she blushed more and smiled sheepishly looking down at the pebbled, grassy floor.
"Philip, you know we can't..." Y/N said frowning. I know she likes me and I like her as well... "Come on, Y/N, we don't need to 'obey' our parents!" I said.
She bit her lip, like she was disagreeing with my logic. "I'm a Jefferson, you're a Hamilton, It'll never work out...I-I'm sorry Philip..." She finally said before getting up to leave. But I stopped her
"You know I want you
It's not a secret I try to hide
I know you want me
So don't keep saying our hands are tied"
I stared at Y/N lovingly and she was still frowning, thinking that we could 'never be together'. I continued trying to convince her that everything would be fine,
"You claim it's not in the cards
Fate is pulling you miles away
And out of reach from me
But you're here in my heart
So who can stop me if I decide
That you're my destiny?"
She sighed as I stepped closer to her, grabbing a f/c rose to give to her. She cautiously took it and looked around the garden, probably checking if anyone was watching a Hamilton confessing his love for a Jefferson.
"What if we rewrite the stars?
Say you were made to be mine
Nothing could keep us apart
You'd be the one I was meant to find"
I said reaching for her hand, she pushed it away and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. I sighed and pointed a hand at her.
"It's up to you, and it's up to me
No one can say what we get to be
So why don't we rewrite the stars?
Maybe the world could be ours
Tonight"
I smiled as she took my hand. We were standing on top of a stone bench under a while, viney, gazebo with the moon shining above us.
Y/N's POV:
"You think it's easy
You think I don't want to run to you
But there are mountains
And there are doors that we can't walk through"
I finally spoke. Philip looked at me like a puppy pleading for food. I frowned and told him the reality of the situation.
"I know you're wondering why
Because we're able to be
Just you and me
Within these walls
But when we go outside
You're going to wake up and see that it was hopeless after all"
I said. Why is it so hard for him to understand that this relationship just wouldn't work...it hurts me more seeing him like this. He just doesn't know what will happen...
"No one can rewrite the stars
How can you say you'll be mine?
Everything keeps us apart
And I'm not the one you were meant to find"
I cupped his cheek with my left and spoke the truth and nothing but the truth. I do love him, but I don't want to start a relationship just for it to end. I don't want to be heartbroken and I don't want him to be either. I looked at the boy, his eyes shimmering and his freckles bouncing on his face.
"It's not up to me
When everyone tells us what we can be
How can we rewrite the stars?
Say that the world can be ours
Tonight"
I remember our fathers. They'd never let this happen. Father would probably lock me in a room where I couldn't escape. He's way too overprotective of his family and he's way too strict with this, 'no Hamilton' rule.
Philip put his arm around my waist, but I hopped down from the bench and out of Philip's grasp. I walked around the garden away from him.
"All I want is to fly with you
All I want is to fall with you
So just give me all of you"
We both sang, our voices blending in with each other. I was still skeptical but Philip's thoughts were only on us and not our family.
"It feels impossible (it's not impossible)
Is it impossible?
Say that it's possible!"
The Hamilton boy caught me and picked me up, into the air. His words finally sinking into my skin and I smiled, hopping out family's feud would end.
"How do we rewrite the stars?
Say you were made to be mine?
Nothing can keep us apart
'Cause you are the one I was meant to find
It's up to you
And it's up to me
No one can say what we get to be
And why don't we rewrite the stars?
Changing the world to be ours!"
We were out of breath and Philip put me down, probably thinking I was convinced. He wasn't wrong, I am convinced! A bit...
I thought of my father and his family. No. Nothing would work. Whatever we do. If this feud continued, we're better off without a relationship.
"You know I want you
It's not a secret I try to hide
But I can't have you
We're bound to break and my hands are tied..."
I finished. He looked at me with the same pleading eyes as before. But this time I didn't fall for it. I ignored him and frowned looking at the ground while walking back inside the house leaving Philip there alone.
3rd Person POV:
Philip Hamilton, the boy who was helplessly in love with Y/N Jefferson, was sitting on an old, stone bench in the center of a gazebo, tears covering his face.
It wasn't that Y/N didn't return his feelings, it was because he finally understood that his family would never let a Jefferson date a Hamilton. It was impossible for the two family to get along.
He was crying, heartbroken. Little did he know though, that a concerned, sympathetic mother of his was watching from a balcony the whole time. She saw their love for each other, she saw how the family's feud was ruining everything. She remembered when she first met her husband. And she decided what she was gonna do when she saw Alexander.
Tell him about Philip and Y/N, and convince him to call off the feud
