Alpha Alexander by WillowJane

While taking a break from my free read for an honest review offer I stumbled on this little gem.

So, the perks of this werewolf story?

The characters:

Phoebe is a great female character. She's rebellious, but recognizes that—given her new status—lives depend on her willingness to cooperate. All her reactions were simply perfect. In the beginning she didn't understand, but the minute she got it she became a whole lot of understanding. Most female characters mated to Alpha's continue to be bratty and stubborn even after they find out what an impact they make on the pack and Alpha's life, but Phoebe doesn't and it's refreshing that she can see beyond her own problems.

Alpha Alexander (Gabriel Alexander is his name) is everything I'd expect of an Alpha werewolf. He's not abusive to his mate or his pack, he treats them with respect and listens when they have concerns... though I think Phoebe made this happen a little more just by being present in his life.

Even the supporting characters had multiple shining moments - Jason, Kellan, Sarah, Chloe... my favorites are Julie and Seth (I'd honestly like to read their story--before they became mates and then after).  I also really like Tommy and I'm hoping that once he gets older he too will have a female werewolf mate.

The writing:

Let's face it, well written werewolf stories are like wild stallions and sometimes, even if you find the well written ones they're dripping with abuse and terrible actions done to the main character (usually the female character). I'm not knocking those stories. When I find a good one, abuse and all, I still read it, but finding a well written werewolf story where there isn't abuse is like trying to find a unicorn. Well, I guess I found one. *Graciously accepts applause* Can I get some 'ooh's' and 'ahh's'?? Okay. I'm done.

This is a great story and it's well worth your time!

Werewolves have joined society, creating new laws across the globe that pay special attention to their rights and privileges. Human governments have accepted them, but there are some who refuse to allow the werewolves to live among the humans. Majority of the population fear the supernatural beasts while some might be their most devoted fans.

Then there's Phoebe Carmichael, who is scared of the supernatural population, but doesn't want to kiss their boots or slit their throats. She is content with living her own life separate from the werewolves . . . until she is summoned to the mysterious pack house by the local Alpha, who claims she is his mate.
