Part 63 Understanding

Arnav opened the door and saw Sheetal extending her hand to press the calling bell. He frowned, seeing Sheetal at his doorstep with her son Aarav.

"Sheetal... you?"

Sheetal removed a chain from her bag and extended it to Arnav.

"I found this chain at the spot where I met you. I think this is your wife's chain. So, I came here to give it to you"

Arnav looked at the chain and then at Sheetal. He nodded his head from left to right.

"This is not my wife's chain"

Sheetal pulled her hand back.

"Isn't it her chain?"

Arnav nodded no.

Khushi who came there got stuck seeing Sheetal.

"Sheetalji...?" She looked at Arnav.

"Sheetal found a chain where you saved Aarav. She thought it's your chain. So, she is here to give it to you. I told her it's not your chain" Arnav said.

"oh... come in Sheetalji"

"It's ok, Khushi. I have to go... I just came to give you the chain"

"That's ok, Sheetalji. How could you leave RM without even entering? Please come" Khushi greeted her.

Sheetal entered in with Aarav.

Raizadas welcomed the woman who was Arnav's college mate. They stunned to see the kid who looked like Arnav.

Khushi went to the kitchen to bring coffee for Sheetal.

"Did you study with Chotte in the college?" Anjali asked.

"Jee... we are college mates" Sheetal said smiling awkwardly.

Arnav didn't know why she reacting like that.

Khushi brought coffee to Sheetal and chocolate drink to Aarav. Sheetal took the cup.

"I don't like chocolate drink. I'm not a kid" Aarav said, making everyone wondered, including Arnav.

"Ok, what do you like?" Khushi asked.

Before Aarav said anything,

"Aarav, take it. this is not our house. Behave yourself"

"That's ok, Sheetalji, he is a kid after all"

"I'm not kid" Aarav took the glass and drank if in a go.

"By the way, Sheetal, how do you know my house?" Arnav asked.

"I got your address from the hospital..."

"Oh..."

Sheetal sipped the coffee, looking here and there. She stood up finishing the coffee.

"I'm leaving. Thank you for the coffee. Aarav..." she frowned not finding him where he was sitting.

All of them looked for him. They saw him looking at the plants that were in Arnav's garden.

"What is he doing there?" Manorama asked.

"He likes gardening," Sheetal said.

"Is it? Our Arnav bituwa also likes gardening"

Sheetal again smiled awkwardly.

Arnav walked to his garden. Aarav looked at him and said,

"The rose plant should not be here... you should keep it under the sunlight"

"I know... rose plant needs sunlight but it should not be strong. Then the rose plant will dry" Arnav said.

Aarav looked at him stunningly.

"You know what, Aarav? I don't like anyone to enter my garden without my permission..."

Aarav looked at Sheetal making a face.

"You are my friend's son, so, you are forgiven" Arnav walked away.

Aarav left the garden and came to Sheetal.

"We have to leave..." Sheetal said.

Khushi felt bad for Aarav. She didn't know why Arnav annoyed him.

Sheetal headed to the exit. That was when her phone rang. She attended the call.

"How could you do this to me? I'm from the US. I don't know anyone here. Where will I go? Where will stay with my kid? This is not done" She disconnected the call wearily.

Arnav shrank his eyes.

"What happened, Sheetalji?" Khushi asked.

"Nothing, Khushi... leave it. It's my problem"

"Why are you talking like this bitiya? You can tell us. Think we are your family" Nani said.

"He was a house broker. I vacated the hotel room as he said there was a house for rent. Now, he says, the house is given to someone. I don't know what to do" She said with nervousness.

"You can stay here until you get a house," Khushi said, looking at Arnav who was disappointed.

"No no... I will manage, Khushi"

Khushi was supposed to say something, but she stopped hearing, Arnav saying,

"Don't worry, I will ask my manager to book a room in a decent hotel"

Sheetal nodded smiling awkwardly.

"But, Arnavji, the hotel will not be safe for single women. Don't you know that?"

"Khushi, you don't know about Sheetal. Don't think she would be like you. She lived in the US alone. then why won't she stay in the hotel for a few days? Am I right Sheetal?" Arnav said.

Sheetal nodded yes and said,

"I have no problem but Aarav is suffocating in the hotel. That's what makes me feel bad" She grinned.

"That's why I say, stay here until you get a house. Arnavji will arrange a good house for you. Am I right Arnavji?"

Arnav was silent.

"Go and bring your stuff, Sheetalji" Khushi insisted.

Sheetal nodded ok and left. Arnav left the place after throwing a meaningful look at Khushi.

"The kid reminded me of Arnav bituwa. This boy looked exactly like our Arnav bituwa. if they sit next to each other, people will think they are father and son" Manorama said.

Khushi's facial expression changed. Nervousness occupied her face.

"You are right, I too remembered Chotte in his childhood," Nani said.

Everyone's concentration went to Dadi when she said,

"Manohar, yesterday I met someone in the temple."

Manohar looked at her keenly.

"The man looked exactly like you. You would have been like him at a young age. He looked like your son" Dadi said.

"Whaaaat? Who is he, dadiji? Where is he from?" Monorama asked with shock.

"Why Manorama, are you going to bring him to RM?"

"What are you talking Dadiji? How could I bring him to RM?"

Manorama looked at Manohar.

"How the man looked like you? What's the relationship between you and him?"

"Arrey, Manorama, how do I know that? I don't even know who the boy is..."

"How won't you know him if he resembles you?"

Manohar kept his hand on his head wearily.

"I have to know the truth. Tell me, who is he?" Manorama asked.

All of them looked at him miserably.

"Manorama, he says he didn't know him. Then why are you torturing him? Don't you know him? Is this the value of your thirty years of married life?" Nani asked.

"How could we judge anyone in this matter, Sasuma?" Manorama was restless.

Nani was supposed to answer her, but stopped hearing, dadi saying,

"If you can't trust the man who lived with you for more than thirty years, what about Khushi?"

All of them looked at her stunningly, including Khushi.

"They just married. Arnav studied with a woman in college. How did you casually say, her son is looking like Arnav? If it is about your husband, you will take it seriously but if it is about someone, it's so simple for you, is it?"

Manorama was stuck.

"I just... I didn't..."

"Stop comparing the boy with Arnav. It has a lot of deep meaning. Don't spill it casually"

Manorama gulped down hard. Dadi looked at Nani and said,

"You too Devyani? Instead of controlling such talks, you are talking the same..."

"The boy looked so cute, Subhadra... that's why..." Nani regretted.

"That's why we should be careful. We should consider why the woman dressed up her kid like our Arnav. Don't we have sense?"

All of them spared a glance.

"Khushi..."

"Haan...?" Khushi jerked.

"Trusting anyone to this extent is not good. Not everyone would be like you... understand that" Dadi said.

"She is struggling with a kid, Dadiji"

"Did you see her struggling?"

Khushi gulped down.

"Even though you see her struggling, don't trust it. We all have experienced it already. If we don't learn from our previous experience, what's the use?"

Khushi nodded.

"People dare to do anything for money these days... Your husband is a multimillionaire... don't forget that"

Khushi didn't know what to say. She nodded ok.

"Listen all of you..."

All of them looked at her,

"Don't pamper the kid when he comes here. Don't encourage the woman when she tries to extend her stay here"

"Do you think, she will do that?"

"If she doesn't do that, her intention is good... but she will definitely try to extend her stay in RM" Dadi said, making everyone awestruck.

To be continued...
