After getting changed into proper "jacking loot" attire, which for Cassie had been a maroon beanie and a dark blue jacket and black pants, they all took the Twinkie to the Crain house. "All right, you guys got rope?" John B asked.

"Got it."

"Grappling hook?"

"We don't have a grappling hook. We're not Batman," Pope sassed.

"Hey, I think I could pass as a Bruce Wayne," JJ voiced, placing his fingers on his chin as he posed.

Cassie scoffed, "You wish, pretty boy."

JJ turned to her, holding a hand up to his heart. "Aw, you finally admit I'm pretty? That's so nice of you, Cassandra."

Cassie shoved him. "Shut up, I was being sarcastic."

"Sure you were," JJ teased and she just rolled her eyes at him. She never understood him. One second, he was yelling at her and calling her a Kook and then the next second, he was teasing her.

But she guessed she was the same way with him, so she really couldn't complain about it without sounding hypocritical. Although she really wanted to complain.

Once they finally reached the house, the sky had fully darkened just like they had planned it to be. "Pulley?" John B asked.

"Check."

"Dark clothes?"

"Got it."

"Flashlights?"

"Check."

"All right, good. We're ready."

"Let's go."

"Let's go get rich, guys," JJ said excitedly.

"Yeah. Hell, yeah," Kiara grinned.

"Go, boys," Sarah said as John B walked out of the car, holding a flashlight to open the sliding door from outside.

"And girls," Kiara added.

"Let's get to it."

"Let's roll."

"Right on."

"Wait, wait, wait," John B directed before they got out and  they all stopped, waiting for him to continue. "I wanna say thank you, guys. Seriously. It means a lot to me that you're here tonight."

Kiara smiled at him before she rolled her eyes and replied, "Always."

John B chuckled softly at her. "Of course, man," Pope breathed out before they started to do the Pogue handshake.

"My man."

John B then looked at Sarah, who was already staring at him practically with heart eyes, and nodded at her. "All right, we done with the circle jerk? Can we go do this?" JJ impatiently asked.

"Yeah, this is getting a little too sentimental for me," Cassie shuddered, causing Kiara and Sarah to laugh. She then laughed with them, only joking around since she actually did think John B was being sweet. Jeez, I am becoming soft.

"Yep, let's go," Sarah said with a laugh.

"Let's get that wheat in the water," Pope voiced as he hopped out of the Twinkie.

"Weed? I'm up for weed," JJ relished from behind the Heyward boy.

"When are you not?" Cassie pointed out and he thought about it for a moment before he shrugged and nodded.

"Good point."

"Wheat. I said, wheat," Pope clarified, shaking his head at him.

"After you," Kiara said to Sarah.

"Ladies first," Sarah replied.

"Alley-oop."

They all climbed over the wall and made their way over towards the house with their flashlights in their hands. They snuck their way through the property, but once they made it in front of the house, the house lights went on.

Sarah gasped, "Shit!"

"Oh, shit!" John B whispered-shouted before they made their over to some bushes to blend in with.

"Go, go, go, go," Cassie and Pope repeated with wide eyes before all them were crouched behind the bushes, hiding from the houselights.

"Flashlights!" Kiara reminded them and Cassie quickly turned her flashlight off, her mouth going dry. She had already been gone from home since Midsummers and if she had come back with handcuffs...she knew she was done for.

JJ tried turning the flashlight off, but it ended up just flashing on and off. "It's on strobe!" He groaned in frustration.

"Flashlights!" Kiara said again and Cassie ripped the flashlight out of his hand, turning it off for him.

"Was that so damn hard?" She questioned through clenched teeth.

"I can't fuckin' see the buttons!" He defended before they all shushed him. "Goddamn..."

Pope ripped his hoodie off, breathing heavily as he said, "Okay, so she has motion sensor lights."

"We could, uh...move really slowly, maybe?" JJ suggested.

"What?" Sarah said in disbelief, squinting her eyes at him.

"Yeah, that's not how it works," Pope deadpanned.

"Dumbass," Cassie added and JJ pursed his lips at her, stopping himself from yelling at her since he was shushed once already.

"Oh, shit. Let's throw a rock at it," John B whispered.

"What?!" Pope exclaimed quietly.

"That's a really good idea, actually," Kiara said sarcastically. "Let the axe murderer know that we're here."

"Throw a rock at it?" Pope repeated in disbelief.

"Okay, you guys have a better idea?" John B asked in offense.

"Literally anything but that," Kiara answered.

"What about the breaker? In the circuit box on the porch. We used to play hide-and-seek here as kids. And if we're brave enough, we'd go all the way up to the porch. I've seen it," Sarah detailed.

"No, no. You're not going in the house alone," John B shook his head.

"Watch me," Sarah smiled as she glanced around at everyone, looking for their support.

"Crain chops people into pieces," JJ reminded her.

"If you believe that, but she's, like, what, 85?" The Cameron girl guessed.

"Yeah, somethin' like that."

"She's probably barely still kicking," Sarah argued.

"Here, I'll go with you," Kiara offered before she looked at Cassie. "Cece?" She said, not wanting her to feel excluded. Although she wasn't sure she would if they were attempting to go into a possible murderer's house.

Cassie looked in between the two girls before she shrugged. "You know what? Hell yeah. I ain't afraid of this old lady," she said, and Sarah and Kiara started to smile and nod.

"Okay, we'll wait for your signal," Pope told them before the three girls got up and started to walk over towards the house carefully.

"Okay, cool."

"Hey! Be safe," John B told Sarah.

"We will," the blonde Cameron assured him.

"Hey, what about us?" Cassie questioned, gesturing in between her and Kiara. "What are we? Chopped liver?" She teased.

"You might be once you're in there," JJ answered her eerily.

"Oh, please. You're such a scaredy cat," Cassie rolled her eyes as Kiara giggled before they set off behind Sarah.

"I'm not a — mmlph!" Pope had covered JJ's mouth so he didn't scream across the whole property, potentially alerting the axe murderer.

The girls held their flashlights in front of them as they maneuvered their way through the overgrown leaves and bushes.  "She must have a generator plugged into the main power supply," Kiara guessed.

They then slowly climbed the steps that led to the porch until they made it up, where Kiara opened up the circuit box. But, their eyes widened when they saw that there were no breakers. "Where are the breakers?" Sarah asked breathlessly.

"What is this?" Kiara whispered.

"No, no, no, no, no, no, no," Sarah repeated in distress.

"Shit," Kiara enunciated.

"What the fuck do we do?" Cassie questioned, checking over her shoulder to make sure no one had been behind them.

Sarah and Kiara's eyes traveled up the wire that was connected to the breaker. "It goes inside," Kiara realized.

"So you're saying we have to go inside then?" Cassie assumed and Kiara nodded. Cassie started to crack her neck and knuckles, preparing for the venture inside the house. "Okay, let's do this." She slowly grabbed the outside door and opened it up, causing it to make a creaking sound.

Cassie winced at the sound before she opened the main door, stepping inside. Kiara and Sarah glanced at each other before they followed Cassie, who seemed to not be scared whatsoever. It was almost like she had a death wish.

They slowly walked inside the house, trying to find the breakers as they flashed their lights around. Kiara then accidentally scared a cat, making it yowl as it ran away. "Shit."

"Hey, it's JJ," Cassie jested, laughing at her own joke. "Hopefully that's the only alive thing in here, though," she added in a mutter and Sarah nudged her, getting more scared than she was earlier.

Kiara flashed her light up towards the ceiling, revealing the wire that led to another room. "Hey," Kiara whispered and the girls looked up with their flashlights.

"Yeah, yeah," Cassie and Sarah whispered back as they walked through to the other room. Once they made it inside, they shined their lights on the wall to reveal the breaker box. Kiara smiled at them and they laughed in relief with her.

"All right." Kiara brought her hand up and switched the breaker off, turning the lights off outside.

"We did it," Cassie grinned, looking at the two girls excitedly. "We fucking did it. See, there was nothing to be sc—"

Suddenly, a whirring sound was heard in the other room and a clock had started to chime, making them gasp quietly. They quickly turned their flashlights off and pressed their backs against the wall in fear.

"Shit. Nothing to be scared of?" Sarah questioned Cassie under her breath.

"I might have jinxed it," the Blake girl winced. She then looked around, waiting a moment to see if they had heard anything upstairs but nothing had occurred. "Okay, wait, look. We're fine. It was just a stupid, old clock."

Then, a clanking sound was heard from upstairs along with a woman's wheezing. "Shit," Sarah breathed out dreadfully, realizing it had been Mrs. Crain.

"Stop jinxing it!" Kiara whispered to Cassie with wide eyes.

"I'm sorry!" Cassie whispered back as they heard the clanking get closer, making her press a hand up to her mouth to smother the sound of her breathing. Kiara watched her do so, making her do the same.

"It's-it's late, Leon. Too late," Mrs. Crain voiced darkly before she coughed. Cassie's eyes widened in shock since she had wholeheartedly believed that perhaps this woman didn't even exist. But here she was, calling for someone named...Leon? Maybe JJ's stupid ghost story was right.

The girls continued to stay in the same room, trying not to make a sound as they continued to hear the clanking. Cassie decided to carefully look around the corner, seeing Mrs. Crain making their way toward them. She quickly pressed her back up against the wall, her eyes going wide.

Mrs. Crain walked into the same room they were in, walking past them as she held a fireplace poker in her hand. "I can hear you, Leon," she drawled before Sarah accidentally whimpered, making the old lady turn towards them. "I've been waiting all night!"

"Go!" Sarah shrieked and they immediately ran away, turning their flashlights on so they would be able to see in the dark house. The three girls ran into the hallway, accidentally separating into different rooms try to find a way out.

As they searched, Mrs. Crain screeched, "Leon!"

Cassie ran into a room that had no way out and she cursed to herself, turning around to see Mrs. Crain right behind her. "Where are you, Leon?" Mrs. Crain called out in a raspy voice.

Cassie gasped, causing the woman to shuffle her way towards her. For an 80 something year old, she sure was fast. She quickly swung at Cassie, causing her to dodge it from the pure adrenaline that was rushing through her veins. Normally, Cassie liked to feel that adrenaline but not so much when she was about to be murdered.

She then began to run away, falling to floor because of how fast she had started out but she bounced up quickly to get into the same room as Kiara. "Kie!" Cassie whisper-shouted once she saw Kiara trying to open a boarded up door.

Kiara turned around and her eyes widened. "Cassie, behind you!"

Cassie gasped again and turned around, seeing Mrs. Crain swing at her. But before she could hit her, Sarah came barging in and grabbed the fire poker in her hand and tossed it away. Cassie watched in shock at the fact Sarah had just protected her, forgetting the fact that she should have probably taken the opportunity to run.

"Come on, come on, come on! This way!" Sarah urged as she took Cassie's hand. Cassie quickly composed herself and looked over her shoulder, reaching out to Kiara to grab her hand. The three girls then ran out together, going into another room and shutting the door behind them.

However, they had no time to rest because Mrs. Crain had smashed a hole into the door with the fire poker she must have picked back up. "Fuck this!" Cassie screamed as they started to sprint away from the door.

"This way! It goes underneath the house!" Sarah directed and they ran into a hallway that led to some stairs, bounding down the stairs as fast they could.

"Go, go go, go!" Kiara urged as they ran down the rickety steps, causing them to creak.

"I'm trying!" Sarah said breathlessly before they made it down.

"Guys!" The girls shouted at the same time once they saw Pope and JJ. "Guys!"

"Whoa, whoa, what's going on? Hey?" Pope asked them in concern.

"Mrs. Crain! She's up there!" Sarah told them, out of breath.

"She tried to kill us with a fire poker, guys," Kiara said in a high voice. "We gotta get the fuck out of here!"

"She's fucking crazy!" Cassie exclaimed breathlessly, trying to catch her breath by placing her hands behind her head.

"I thought you weren't scared," JJ pointed out teasingly, clearly not sensing the urgency.

"JJ, you didn't see her! She was fucking swinging that thing like pro baseball player!" She explained and JJ released a shocked laugh.

"We locked her in the parlor, but we gotta go!" Sarah yelled.

"Okay, no, that's code red, that's code red!" JJ bellowed and Cassie scoffed at him since he only now decided to think they were being serious.

"Let's go!" Pope yelled down the well.

"Hey, John B! Get back on, man!" JJ also shouted down the well.

"JJ! Hold on, man! I'm comin'!" John B told them from the well before they all started to grab a piece of rope to pull John B back up.

"Okay. Three, two, one, pull!" Pope said and they all pulled the rope, but they had fallen onto the ground with groans since John B seemed to be stuck somewhere.

"Shit!" Cassie groaned when she fell backward onto Sarah. "Sorry, girl!"

"You're good!"

"Where the hell is he?" Pope questioned as they crawled back towards the well to look down it, trying to spot the boy in the darkness.

"Shit!" Kiara exclaimed.

"John B!" JJ and Sarah yelled at the same time before Kiara shushed them so that they would be able to hear the Routledge boy.

John B started to yell, but they couldn't hear what he was saying since he was so far down. "What's he saying?" JJ asked.

"JJ! Pope! Kie!" They heard the boy scream.

"Yo, he's drowning! We gotta pull him out!" Sarah assumed quickly before they all scrambled toward the rope.

"We gotta get him!" Cassie bellowed.

"John B!" Kiara yelled.

"Hey, John B! Get back on the rope. We're gonna pull you back up, okay, buddy?" Pope called down to him.

"Okay, I'm up!" John B told them from below.

"Yes!" The girls exclaimed before they began to pull the on the rope with the two boys.

"Pull!" Pope urged before a loud gun shot was heard behind them, making them all scream and start to let go of the rope.

"Pope! JJ! What the hell?" John B shouted from below since he had dropped further down the well.

"Climb up! John B, hang on!" JJ yelled in a strained voice.

"Tie it up now, man!" Pope told JJ as he tied up the rope, his hands shaking like crazy because of the adrenaline and fear mixed together.

"Guys, hide!" JJ instructed them and the others dove to hiding spots. However, Cassie looked over at Mrs. Crain aiming the gun right at the blonde boy who was too busy trying to tie the rope so John B wouldn't plummet all the way down.

Her eyes widened. "JJ!" She warned and she quickly dove toward the boy without thinking right before Mrs. Crain shot off another bullet right where they just were, causing her to land right on top of him as they both groaned.

JJ blinked in shock as he looked up at Cassie on top of him, not fathoming what had just happened. "Are you okay?" She asked him breathlessly as she stared into his ocean blue eyes and all he could do was nod, his mouth hung agape in shock.

All of a sudden, Mrs. Crain shot another bullet in the direction of where Kiara and Sarah were hiding. "Shit! Go, go!" Kiara yelled and the two of them quickly got up from their hiding spot and ran out.

Cassie slowly climbed off of JJ, looking over to see Mrs. Crain pointing the gun toward them before she sent off another shot right by Pope. "Go! Go!" Pope screamed as they all hurried up, running out of the room right before they heard another shot go off.

They saw Sarah and Kiara up ahead, climbing over the wall. They quickly reached them, following after them and hopping over the wall to reach the Twinkie. JJ went straight toward the driver seat and Cassie hopped in the passenger seat since the others got into the back.

"Start the car! Go, go, go!" Pope yelled since Mrs. Crain still seemed to be shooting the gun. "Why are we always getting shot at?!"

"Come on, John B! Run!" Kiara yelled as JJ started to drive the car, seeing that he had been trying to get over to the wall.

"John B! John B!" Sarah called out.

"John B, come on!" Cassie urged the boy, looking over her shoulder to see John B hop over the wall and run toward the moving Twinkie. "JJ, slow down!"

JJ immediately slowed the Twinkie down just a bit so John B could reach it and dive inside, covered in buckets of mud. "Oh! Oh shit!" He screamed.

"Oh, my God!" Pope exclaimed.

"JJ, drive!" Sarah demanded at the blonde boy as everyone shouted out in shock, making him harshly press on the gas pedal once again to get out of there.

"Go, man!" Pope yelled at him.

"Oh, my God! Are you okay? Are you shot? You shot?" JJ asked frantically as he glanced over his shoulder at the boy and John B quickly shook his head, causing the others to check to make sure they weren't shot.

"I'd think I'd know if I was shot, right?" Kiara asked as she pressed her hands to her chest. Cassie looked down at herself, breathing out in relief once she realized she was fine.

"You look...disgusting," Pope told John B as he took deep breaths.

"God, you smell like ass!" Kiara complained as she scrunched up her nose in disgust.

"What the hell just happened?" Sarah asked in shock.

"All-time Pogue Hall of Fame, baby!" JJ cheered.

"Hell, yeah!" Kiara said as she patted JJ's shoulder from behind him.

"That bitch is crazy!" Cassie cried out.

"That bitch is possessed!" Kiara added.

"That bitch can't aim!" Sarah added further.

"How does she move that fast?" Pope questioned.

"She's possessed!"

"I don't understand it."

"She's blind!"

"She's like Master Yoda," JJ jested and Cassie let out a breathless laugh, making him glance over at her with a smile.

"It doesn't make any sense, like, scientifically," Pope went on.

"She's does yoga. Pilates," Kiara guessed. "Wait, what is that?" Kiara asked John B, causing Cassie to look back over her shoulder to see him holding a small, golden plate in his hand that was covered in mud.

"No way!" Cassie gasped, her eyes going wide.

"No, you didn't!" Sarah shouted in disbelief with a wide smile.

"We did it, baby!" John B confirmed.

"No, you didn't!" Sarah repeated enthusiastically.

"I DID IT! I DID IT!"

"OH, MY GOD!"

The Pogues all whooped and cheered noisily as John B held the gold up with his mud covered hands.

They had completed their mission.

They had found the gold.

"Wait, wait. Guys, we're gonna be rich!" Kiara realized excitedly.

"Like, full Kook!" John B yelled.

They then all started to chant, "Full Kook! Full Kook! Full Kook! Full Kook! Full Kook! Full Kook! Full Kook!"

However, Cassie had stopped chanting it once she realized...this was going to be the end. She wasn't going to get a cut of it because of what JJ had told her but more importantly...he had every right to expose her now since they had found the gold.

She was going to lose all of her friends.

She was going to be alone. Again.

JJ looked back over at the girl, noticing the way her smile had faltered as she stared out the front window. He furrowed his brows before he realized why: it was because of him. He told her that she wasn't going to get a cut and now that they had found the gold, he should be telling them all about her and Rafe.

But, for some reason, he didn't want to.

Not after she had just saved his life.
