Chapter Eight

Priscilla

The car halted to a stop, Louis taking the keys out and unlocks the doors. "We're here." He huffs tiredly, running his hands through his hair and stretches like a sleepy cat, awakening from its slumber.  The large cul-de-sac neighborhood was cozy, familiar to me. It sort of reminded me of my old house back in Seattle, that house infront of the curved road with Reagan's image stuck in my head, her happy motto "A slice of fun life!" Oh, Reagan, do I miss you.

Louis walks over to an olive green house and takes his keys, unlocking the door and opened. It was cute looking, quite intriguing as if the color brings you a melting desire, a happy feeling to yourself. Instead, it brings a motivated expectation to me.

"Shall we go?" He bows jokingly and smiled smugly. I chortle a laugh and nod, following him inside to his well-organized home.

My stomach suddenly grumbles loudly, I put my hands on my belly, Louis turning around with an arching brow and cleared his throat. "You must be hungry, haven't I gave you a snack earlier?" He laughs lightly.

"You only gave me a bottle of soda, and cheez-its!" I squeaked with a bright red blush appearing on my face. Louis shurgged and plopped on the comfy sofa.

"That was all I had, better than nothing." I had to agree, it was better than nothing.

I let my bag down on the floor, immediately walking to the kitchen and opened  the fridge. Louis suddenly stood up, running at me and closes so quickly.

"Hey! I'm hungry you know?" I let my arms drop to my hips and tapped my foot furiously on the hardwood floor.

"You're like a raccoon, rummaging through fresh food." He ruffles my hair and tucks a strand behind my ear.

"Don't belittle me! I know there's turkey slices in there with cheddar cheese! Let's make a sandwich." I grabbed his arm, pulling him away from me.

"But, what about the project you were asking?" Louis moans.

"We need fuel, it's important for ourselves." I spoke with a rich, fake accent and chuckled.

"Fine.." escaped from Louis' mouth.

Knock! Knock! Knock!  From the door began to sound loud, but yet simple. I perked up from digging in the fridge.

"Who's that?" I whispered childishly.

"Probably my mother." Louis widens his eyes worriedly.

"What? I want to meet her!" I squeaked.

"My mother's strict as hell, she will criticize you." He fidgeted his fingers so scared.

"Oh really? Nice story." I squint with a fake grin, giving a thumbs up and clapped slowly.

"Well, the door isn't gonna last long." I point.

"I'm not so sure.." he mumbles.

Almost a minute was wasted, I let out a huff, and said."You gonna open the door or what?" I walked over to the peephole, peeking through and saw an uptight lady, squinting at the small hole and called his name. "Louis! OPEN."

"You better hide Priscilla." He held my hand and pushed me back from the door.

"I'm not, if your mother doesn't welcome my appearance then  i'll just leave." I said.

Louis takes a deep breath, fold his arms to his chest and letting out a defeated breath. "Okay.." he walks over to the door, opening it slowly.

The uptight dressed woman clicks her heels inside and notices me, standing so stiff.

"Who's this young lady Louis?" She cocks a brow, taking off her shoes and her height appeared much shorter than I expected.

Hah! Finally, I'm taller than an inch to this woman!

"She's a friend of mine." His smile disappears and said in a straight expression.

"Oh, really?" Her faint smile appears boldly.

"Yes, she moved here from Seattle." Louis clenched his jaw.

"Y-Yeah..." I mumbled.

Her lipstick color is pretty flawless to be honest, and her eyebrows so delicately brushed.

And I'm looking like a couch potato right now.

But hey, don't doubt, she can be an evil old hag under that fit body.

His mother lets out a stiff sigh, walking closer to me with her hair lightly bouncing. "Whatsoever, what are your parents name?"

Creep.

"Lina and Jack Lorrester." I gulped.

"And your name?" Her eyes like a snake, hypnotizing me with her black eyes.

"P-Priscilla." I clenched my fists, Louis peering down at my balled-up hands.

"Are you his girlfriend?" His mother stares so straight, not even blinking. Louis' eyes widely grew and we shook our heads embarrassingly.

"I knew it." She squinted so sharply and takes a step back.

It was silence, Louis and I shaking like frail twigs.

Suddenly, she laughs, literally.

"So you are his girlfriend! I'm Paula, nice to meet you." Her cheerful grin was creepy, like an unhinged, no fixable robot.

Louis looks at me weirdly, and back at his mother. "Mom, I think you're sick in the head. Priscilla and I aren't dating." He said.

"Oh, quit joking. Louis always does that." She elbowed me and mumbles with a quick smile.

"Mrs -:"

"Call me 'Paula'." She stomps her foot furiously and I jolt up.

"P-Paula, it's a pleasure meeting you, but I have to go." I glared at Louis and tilt my head towards her.

"No, no! Have dinner with us, I'd like to know you." Her smoothed skin glows under the evening sunlight.

I shook my head a no, saying to her that I have many 'stuff' to take care of. But, herself ignores my fake excuses.

Only thing I came here was for an art project, not a dinner.

"Oh come on, just stay for only a plate." Her beady, well-perfected brows arches.

Louis glares at me and gulps heavily.

"Mom, just let her go. Maybe next time we ca-:"

"No, I'd need to know every single thing about her." Louis' mother interrupts and raised her hand, shushing loudly.

My eyes darted at him and back to his mother, her smile creeping into a grin.

......

I take a sip of my water, listening to her boring jokes.

"So, that happened! Would you like some pie?" She hands me a large slice of creamy key-lime pie.

"Y-Yes ma'am." I stared at the floor, kicking louis' leg and he looks at me seriously.

Paula's plastering smile went up a bit as she stared at Louis and I."So, as what i've said earlier, are you dating my son?" She sips her wine elegantly.

"No ma'a-:"

"It's Paula, young lady." She shots back.

"Paula, Louis and I aren't dating." I retorted.

Louis clenching his jaw, clicking his tongue in silence. "Mom, it's quite late, shall I take her back?" He asks 'politely', his hair bouncing lightly.

"It's not late, you know. I'll take her instead." Her voice was as sharp as a knife, ready to cut.

"No thanks, you've been working a lot and you need rest." Louis glaring at me and his mother folds her arms, leaning her chair back. She squints, biting her bottom lip and shrugged carelessly. "You're right, I need some rest. Maybe next time she comes over, i'll take her." The air heavier, Louis nods and I grabbed my stuff much faster than usual.

"Thanks for the food..Paula." I let out a half bit smile, waving a cheap and creeped out goodbye.

She smiles elegantly, filled with venom and pride.

"No, thank you." She whispers.

Louis and I left hurriedly, letting out a longingly sigh. "That felt like eternity." Louis ran through his hair, closing his eyes tiredly. "I'm sorry Louis, I should've left bu-:"

"Enough is enough, i'll just take you home." He shots back, much more serious than usual.

His smile gone, cheerful dimples, and his eyes straight down. All dark, all annoyed.

"Well, aren't you coming or not?" He sat in the driver seat, patting the leathered chair.

"R-Right," I joined, pushing my canvas and bag in the back. Louis sighs, igniting the car back to life and we drove off.

I told him the address to my home, barely breathing. The air felt much thicker to breathe.

"Can you lower the windows?" I stared at him.

"Sure." He says, lowering the four windows down and felt the wind rushing around us.

It felt amusing, perfect and relaxing, trees swaying along the grassy spots.

"I'm sorry from earlier." Louis finally spoke, the silence going away.

"No, It's fine, after all, she's your mom." I pat his shoulder, smiling faintly.

I bite my lower lip, hearing the soft pop from Louis' neck.

I hate to admit but boy, do I love that sound.

"She's not the kind of mom you were thinking of." He said.

"What do you mean by that?" I squeaked, curiously.

He clenches his jaw, scanning at me and stopped to a halt.

"She thinks you're my girlfriend earlier, and I can tell from her goddamn self she wants to ruin your life." He says with his innocence.

I slightly giggled, nodding. "Oh, she can't, heck, she doesn't even know me." I grin toothy quite childish.

"You knew me for almost a week or so, and you're my buddy! Trust me, your mother maybe mistaken me as a punk or something." I grinned.

"A punk? You serious?" He cocks a brow and scoffs.

"Well, that's what she thought of maybe." I fold my arms.

He suddenly bursts into chuckles, softly tapping the wheel and couldn't hold b his laughter. His head tilts back, groaning loudly and wipes stray tears.

"That's some bull crap your saying ya know?" Louis' attitude made me snicker.

We then went silent.

We reached at my house, Louis turning off the car and got out. "Hey, just in case. If your parents wonder where you have been, I got your back." He pats me teasingly, giving a thumbs up.

"Oh, how sweet of you!" I puckered my mouth into a pout and ruffled his perfect hair, almost like an owner baby talking to their pet.

"Stop it, won't you?" Louis playfully grabbed my arm, nudging me and made my hair messy.

I don't even care about my hair all messy,  all I care about making Louis happy.

We stood at the porch, almost close to each other, Louis rings the doorbell and hear a clatter from inside. My mom opens the door with flour all over her shirt and her pants. "Well, what do we have here?" She smiles.

"This must be another friend of Kevin's right?" My mom's eyes twinkled.

"Who's Kevin?" Louis asks.

"A guy from school, he annoys the heck outta me!" I said.

"Oh, well. Mrs Lorrester, I'm not one of Kevin's." My mom sighs in defeat. But her attitude and her shine of hope is back.

"Well, what's your name?" She suddenly grabs his arm, locking elbows as Louis gulps.

"Louis Calisto." He said.

"Oh, what a nice name for a nice guy!"  My mom hums.

"So, where have you been the whole day? Together with this hunky cookie?" My mom grins and whispered into my ear.

My face all blushed and ready to blow, I flail my arms. "N-NO! You're dreaming." I huff. Louis looking at us awkwardly and cleared his throat.

"I can hear you Mrs Lorrester." He says.

"W-What? Never mind that! I was wondering where Priscilla had been?" My mom laughs choking with lies but partially saying the truth.

"She needed help with her project, so I helped her." Louis' innocent eyes blinks.

My mom suddenly grins, smiling like an idiot.

Him and I awkwardly stood and my mom tapping her fingers on the knob. "Well then, I'm off." He walks to his car, and quickly turned around.

"Don't forget! You're starting work tomorrow, I'll pick you up." Louis waves, turning on his car and drove away.

My mom patting her pants from the flour, she walks in and I went in. Closing the door and took off my shoes, the smell of desserts made me gag a bit.

Louis' mother had already gave me too much sweets and pies from the appetizing dinner.

"Hey Priscilla, want a cookie?" My father chews a melting piece of a warm cookie and wipes his mouth with a napkin.

"Nah, I don't feel like eating right now." I said.

Walking upstairs, my parents drinking their cup of tea and cookies laughing all the way.

I plopped on my bed, rubbing against the soft mattress and nuzzled.

"Oh, do I miss you." I slightly laughed.

Looking at Mr Lumpkins, his cute floppy ears were quite droopy, not up right enough. I lazily stood up, walking to my plushest toy and carried it along with me.

The cute, glimmering eyes reminded my best friend Reagan and the chubby cheeks all fuzzed up.

I let the toy right beside my pillows, changing into my pajamas and brushing my teeth.

After finishing, I hear a tap from the window, a pebble tumbling down.

Scared, I open the blinds, scanning around the place until a face appeared.

I screamed, covering my face from the window.

Suddenly, the person laughed, a familiar one.

It was Kevin.

Grumbling under my breath, I opened the window, hissing deadly at him.

James and the two were with him, folding their arms with a smirk.

"Well, peanut! I haven't seen you in ages!"  Peter and Bryan nodding along with Kevin and waved a cheap hello.

"Won't you bumbling fools go!" I hissed.

"Ah, ah, ah!  That's not how you say those horrendous words to your friends!" Bryan clicks his tongue and shook his head.

"I'm not your friend, just go!" I hear my mom's voice down the hallway, her footsteps coming closer.

"He-:"I quickly closed the window shut, my mom opening the door and says, "Tomorrow's Saturday! Aren't you excited?" Her bright face beamed with excitement.

I kept ignoring the throwing pebbles and Kevin calling my name.

"Yeah, I am." I pinched my elbow over and over again, waiting for my mom to leave.

"Anyways, I wanted to say goodnight to you!" She chirps.

"Well, ya did." I awkwardly laughed.

"Goodnight Priscilla." My mom gave me a hug, walking away and closed the door quietly.

Finally, she's gone.

I suddenly see Kevin standing impatiently along with his buddies, calling my name nonchalantly.

I let out a defeated yet annoyed sigh, opening the windows and glared at them.

"What do you want anyways?" I yawned.

The four shrugged.

Suddenly, Kevin was the first to jump in and then, the rest.

My room was my own paradise, my own wholesome place to keep me sane.

And they're going to ruin it.

They're going to pay.

"So, how's your day peanut?" Peter said.

"Hell." I replied, the rest giving me a weird glare and shrugged.

"Who's that guy you were with earlier?" James asks.

My sane slowly snapping away, I fold my arms and flared my nostrils.

"Were you guys spying on me??" I growled.

They surrendered themselves and scanned around the place. "Love your room, so organized." Peter hums. James agreeing along with him and Bryan nodding while he walks around the place, touching the books and opening my closet.

I hissed at him angrily, Bryan looks around my clothes.

"Hmm, you got ugly clothes." He retorts.

Okay now they're just at the peak of my boundaries.

"And you have a tasteless personality, get out." I yanked Bryan's arm, pulling along with the three.

Kevin got the hold of me, unlocking my grip on them, he carries me by the back, holding me like a bag pack. "LET ME GO!!" I squealed, Kevin scoffing with a smirk and spun me around.

He then placed me down on the floor and I landed with a thud!

"Calm down peanut, you know why we're here." Peter pats my head playfully.

"Remember the challenge?" Kevin winks.

I shrugged, quite carelessly.

"And the disaster that happened when we were stuck in the elevator?"

I nod.

Bryan and James clenched their jaws, Peter bobbing his tired head like a sleepy child.

"Well, can you please, please, wear the costume for supporting our team? I know about forgetting it, even though our last person quit. Can't you? We really need you." Kevin pleads.

"I thought you don't want me to wear it, Remember?" I shot back.

"Well, we were wrong." James clicks his tongue.

"Our coach needs someone to wear the costume, or we can't play for the next game."

"Aren't there any fake cheerleaders to fluff their poms poms?" I grumbled.

"Yeah, there are, but we need you to become the badger mascot." Bryan wraps his arms around my shoulders, looking at me with his bright eyes.

James shrugs an agreement and Peter lying on my bed, spreading his arms and legs and sighed with relief.

"Your bed is so comfy peanut." Suddenly, he saw Mr Lumpkins, sitting there beside my pillows. He smiles softly, grabbing the toy and held it right by him.

"Who's plushy toy is this??" Peter says.

The three stared at him and began to snicker.

I suddenly smacked my forehead with my palm, clenching my other hand into a fist.

"It's none of your business anyway." I snatch my plushy toy from Peter's hands and wrapped my arms around it.

Kevin stands infront off the mirror, ruffling his hair and fold his arms.

"Oh come on peanut, don't be a bummer." Kevin yanks my toy, standing tall.

I frowned, sitting on my bed as Peter rolls around making my organized bed much messier.

"Get up, won't you?" I growled again at Peter.

"Okay, Okay." He mumbles, stood up with a sprung and taps his foot on the floor.

"Anyways, we were spying on your friend, sounds like you have a crush on him." Kevin grins.

"The actual heck would you think of that?" I set my hands on my hips.

"He's just a friend, you don't have to be so nosy about. Sounds like you're  jealous." I cock a brow, seeing Kevin's even tone of his skin forming into a redder color.

"Oh snap." Peter mutters with Bryan and the two nodded.

James sitting all quiet, his green eyes glowing darker.

"You only came here for just one thing you really desired of, wanting to know Louis and trying to bust me, looks like i've busted you." I twirled my hair and stuck my nose up boldly.

"Tomorrow's Saturday, so don't try to come and embarrass yourself." I sighed with relief, looking at his annoyed, blushing face and smiled so cocky.

"Let's go." Kevin mumbles.

"Great." Peter mutters.

The four left as they escaped from the window, walking away.

Finally.

My eyelids getting heavier, I went to bed, sleeping deeply into my dreams of desires.

......

It was morning, the light turned faint, not even glowing.

I woke up with a shudder from the cool air rushing in. I stood up, walking lazily to the window and noticed that the place became much wet, muddy and humid. "Looks like it rained last night." I mumbled, staring at a couple walking their four dogs.

Their jumping and barking were heard, children and cheery voices are high, happy pitched and squealing like pigs.

How terrific.

I woke up much earlier than usual, almost seven in the morning. Sighing, I walked down to the kitchen, taking a bowl of ice cream and some sprinkles.

A better way to start a great morning.

Suddenly, the door began to knock. Curious, I tiptoed to the black door, peering in the peephole. Louis was here, holding a bag with..clothes?

Why'd he have them? Is it some sports practice he does after his part-time job?

I opened the door, held the bowl beside me and shoving myself with bites of creamy, frozen treat. "Oh, hey Priscilla." He says surprisingly.

"By the way, you forgot to get these clothes from Jake after your interview, so here." Louis hands me the bag with my job uniform.

"M'kay, thanks." I mumble with my mouth full.

"Aren't you getting ready? For your first day?" He asks.

My eyes grew wide, nodding crazily and pulled him into the house.

"WHAT ARE-:"

"SSSSHHHHHHHHHH, my parents are sleeping."  I whispered angrily at him.

"Okay, geez." He stares at me, ruffling my hair childishly. "Love your pajamas, isn't that Kermit The Frog?" He asks, twirling the hem of my pants.

I yelped, swatting his hand away. "Never knew your were a fan of 'em." I shot back. We were quiet, gazing at each other.

"Aren't you going to stop gazing me like that?" I said.

Louis slightly smiles, tucking a strand behind his ear.

"Until you stop glaring me like that princess." He winks. I gave him a weird glare, deadpanning Louis. "Nice one." I sarcastically said, patted his shoulder with my brow arched. He then walks away, and sat in the living room. Scrolling through his phone quietly until he said, "go get ready, I'm waiting for you." His voice as smooth and mild. Like oozing chocolate coated with honey.

Okay, all that description is making me hungry, I mean it! Not toying around with Mr Lumpkins and having a fake tea party with Reagan when we were little kids, cross my heart and God forgive me.

 Damn my mind.

I rushed upstairs to get ready and already did, brushing my teeth was the last step. Finished it with gurgling water and spitting back into the sink. My hair's all tangled, but I don't care. Made it into a messy bun and trotted back downstairs like Bambi, the ugly yet lazy version.

Louis turns off his phone, staring at me and bursts into laughter. I frowned at him and squinted. "What's wrong with me?" I asked.

He couldn't stop laughing until he coughs.

"You wore your shirt inside out." His loose strand of hair was tucked; shirt tightened and ready.

"Wha-:" Louis suddenly walks upto me, flicking his finger at my forehead.

"I'm just kidding, let's go." He hums.

My face burning with the color of red, all warm and too pinkish. "Quit blushing and let's go." He whispers.

"Oh, right." I walked with my shoes and closed the door with a click!

His car was sitting there alone, until he unlocks it.

We went in, Louis ignited the car and we drove off into the free ways of my neighborhood.

It's going to be a long day.
