At the Mikaelson Compound, in the second-floor study, Freya sat at a desk, writing a letter to Rebekah about all that was occurring in New Orleans during her absence.
"My dear Rebekah, I hope this finds you well. I write to offer an update and ask for your advice. Our brothers remain at odds. Klaus will never apologize--not for the blood he's shed, nor the suffering Hayley continues to endure--and Elijah can never forgive him. Despite my efforts, we are a house divided. Which is not to say I have no good news...
Niklaus kept his word. Marcel controls the Quarter, with help from Ophelia, of course, who still remains 'Queen of the City'. There, the duo have founded a fight gym in the old St. Anne's Church where they test the mettle of those who wish to join Marcel's vampire community. Of course, Ophelia is only taking part to pass the time. Believe it or not, she is with child, but is stuck in a sort of a predicament regarding the pregnancy. Elijah has begun joining Marcel and Ophelia for sparring. I believe it helps him work through his anger...and he has much anger.
While Hope continues to flourish, it is clear she misses her mother. Though Niklaus remains the doting father, he has been of no help in finding a cure for Hayley's curse.
Despite mine and Ophelia's best efforts, we've yet to find the means to undo the spell placed on her and the Crescent wolves, and Hayley herself continues to struggle, unable to see her child except for one night a month during the full moon. And we're in no position to ask for outside help...
Davina's rage at our family has only grown. And, as Regent of all covens, she is far too formidable to be swayed.
Meanwhile, Niklaus has continued to try and win Ophelia over with his charms, despite the fact that she is married to one of the wolves he himself had cursed to be stuck in wolf form every night but the full moon. The two of them seem to be the only ones in our family who are truly on good terms, even though it is clear that deep down, Ophelia is still upset about our brother's actions regarding her pack.
As a way to use Niklaus' feelings for her to her advantage, Ophelia had insisted that he begin to see Camille for what she calls 'their little chats.' And since the orders left Ophelia's mouth and Nikalus is trying his hardest to win her over, our brother was quick to do as she said. He claims a desire to amend his ways. In truth, he seems utterly free of remorse...which only drives Elijah further away.
I wonder if you would write me with any advice you have on how to heal their fractured bond. Until then, I remain your loving sister, Freya."
Freya picked up the letter and examined it for a moment before crumpling it up and gripping it tightly in her hands. She muttered a spell under her breath for a moment until the letter finally disappeared, having been magically sent to Rebekah wherever she was, before she smiled.
She stood up, walking down the hallway and down the stairs. She raised a brow when she found Ophelia standing in the courtyard. She stood in front of a table, which had a grimoire and numerous candles on it.
"What are you doing?" She asked Ophelia, who was in the middle of chanting a spell, concerned.
Ophelia slowly opened her eyes and turned to Freya, a small smile on her face, "Well, Freya, I just placed a very powerful protection spell on myself," She informed the Mikaelson witch and with a wave of her hand, she had closed the spell book and blew out all of the candles, "I'm pregnant, living with the Mikaelson family. I need to protect my baby and myself from harm. Now, no physical harm will hurt my baby in anyway..." She trailed off, "Well, except for death, of course."
Freya looked uneasy, knowing about the fact that if Ophelia died, there was a chance she'd survive. The same couldn't be said about the baby inside of her.
___
Ophelia sat in one of the tombs with Davina, who ranted to her about the nineth ward coven thinking of her as a vampire sympathizer, "Do you want me to kill them?" She suddenly asked, causing Davina to turn to her adoptive mother with wide eyes.
"Ophelia, no!" She exclaimed in a hushed tone, "Are you crazy? That would only make them hate me more."
Ophelia raised her hands in surrender, "Sorry. Just a suggestion." She responded, causing Davina to raise a brow at her.
"Are you okay?" She asked Ophelia concerned, walking closer to her, "You've been acting weird lately."
"I'm feeling guilty," Ophelia confessed quietly, "The feelings I have for Klaus are only growing stronger in Jackson's absence. And I refuse to let anything to happen between us. Jackson's my husband, not Klaus. And I love Jackson, but..."
"But you're in love with Klaus," Davina finished Ophelia's sentence for the female tribrid, who nodded her head in response.
"Freya and I are the only ones that are on good terms with Klaus," Ophelia informed Davina with a sigh, "But Freya's only okay with him because she doesn't want to choose a side regarding Elijah and Klaus' quarrel. And Klaus, he's basically appointed me as Hope's replacement Hayley and I hate it. He really thinks I can just fill in Hayley's spot as Hope's mother and that's not okay. Hayley is Hope's mother, not me. He thinks he can just erase her from existence. It's not right." She paused, letting out a large sigh, "But it's not like there's anything to do. I have no clue whatsoever on how to undo the Crescent Curse. I fear I'm not acting like myself without the pack that I've grown to love like family."
"What do you mean?" Davina asked Ophelia concerned, referring to the fact that the women had said she wasn't acting like herself.
"I'm having these mood swings," Ophelia confessed, finally turning to look Davina in the eye, "I've been killing people for unnecessary reasons. Yeah, they start with me feeding on them because I'm hungry, but then this rage consumes me and I tear these people apart like I'm some animal. And that hunger I have as a vampire, it's gotten worse. It's worse than how it was when I was first turned. I'm always hungry for blood. And I mean, always."
"Maybe it has to do with you being a pregnant tribrid," Davina suggested, "I mean, it's never happened before. But a pregnant woman gets cravings and has a ton of mood swings. The cravings you get are blood since you're part vampire and the mood swings you get are heightened because of your anger as a werewolf," She paused, letting out a sigh, "What about your magic?"
"Surprisingly, that's the only the thing that's normal," Ophelia informed Davina in a calm tone, causing her to smile slightly, "I know you told me about how you're having problems with the Nineth Ward Coven, but what about in general? How are you feeling about the fact that you're Regent of all Nine Covens."
"It's amazing," Davina lied to Ophelia, which the woman immediately noticed.
"Tell me the truth, Davina," Ophelia insisted, causing Davina to let out a large sigh.
"It's not what I expected," Davina confessed, a sad look on her face, "It's tiring, I feel like all of the covens hate me, and I have no clue what I'm doing."
"You're going to get through this, Davina," Ophelia assured the girl, standing up from her seat before walking over to Davina, hugging her, "You're going to be a great Regent. Trust me."
As Ophelia pulled away from the hug, about to walk away, Davina gave her a concerned look, "Where are you going?" She questioned Ophelia.
Ophelia slowly turned to Davina, a smile on her face, "I have to meet Klaus at St. James Infirmary," She informed Davina, who sighed in response, "Don't worry. I'll be back soon, alright?"
Ophelia sent the girl a reassuring smile before leaving the tomb and soon after, the cemetery.
______
Ophelia walked into the bar, which had been temporarily converted into an art gallery and was full of artwork on display. She looked around for a moment, feeling as though she recognized the art work.
Just then, Klaus appeared and walked over to greet her, "Ophelia! There you are!" The male hybrid enthusiastically greeted the woman, who had a confused look on her face when seeing how cheery he was, "I was starting to think you had gotten lost on your way here."
Ophelia raised a brow at the man, a confused look on her face, "You're lucky I even came at all, Klaus." She responded, but Klaus didn't seem bothered by her rudeness and he walked even closer to her.
"Well, I'm glad you came," He told her, looking down at her as they stood just inches apart.
Ophelia sighed, quickly walking past Klaus and closer to the nearby paintings, "Well, it's not like I had anything else better to do. It's been dull around here these past few months," She informed him, taking a long, lasting look at the painting in front of her before turning back to face Klaus, "Now, tell me why you wanted me to come."
He spread his arms wide and gestured around the room at all of the paintings, smiling nervously, "Welcome to my art exhibition." He informed her, looking a bit proud of himself.
"Why is it that you're showing all of these off now all of a sudden?" Ophelia asked Klaus curiously, eying each of them paintings closely. She could almost recognize every single on them, clearly either helping him painting it or being present as he himself did so.
She glanced around, her eyes locking on a painting of herself that Klaus had drawn just a few months ago. He had begged her to let him draw her and finally, Ophelia allowed him to. She noticed the painting that was formerly hung up in Hope's room and the two paintings she and Klaus had drawn with the werewolf traitor's blood as well, numerous months before.
Klaus chuckled and smiled as Ophelia looked around at his art, a smile trying its hardest not to form on her lips, "I spent the better part of a millennia trying not to draw my father's attention. And now he's dead, and all those who stood against me have been vanquished..." He trailed off, "I see no reason the fruits of my labor should go unappreciated."
Ophelia hesitated a moment before sighing and turning to face him, "I think I better go." She suddenly said, beginning to walk away.
Before she could get far, Klaus suddenly appeared in front of her, clearly using his vampire speed, "Have I offended you in some way?" He asked her, a concerned look on his face.
"No, I just..." She trailed off, not wanting to admit to Klaus that she was trying to distance herself from him because she was starting to feel guilty about the feelings she had for him whilst still with Jackson, "You know what? It's nothing."
"Oh. Well, then, perhaps you'd like to escort me to tomorrow's opening?" Klaus proposed, a large grin on his face.
Ophelia scoffed loudly, "You wish," She bluntly responded, "I think I should go."
Ophelia started to walk away, only to stop and turn to Klaus, who looked utterly hurt, "Wait," She suddenly stopped, coming to a realization, "You're worried no one else will come. Rebekah's gone, Marcel's angry, Elijah won't even look at you, Freya, well, she's Freya. At the moment, no one is perfectly fine with you other than me and of course, Hope, but she's an infant. You'll be alone." She paused, walking toward Klaus as looked at him sympathetically, "You're scared because the people you love are angry with you," She suddenly stopped, giving Klaus a cold look, clearly putting up a front, "Maybe you need to think about that and stop driving everyone away."
Klaus, no longer looked saddened, gave Ophelia an emotionless look, "You're right, maybe you should go." He rudely dismissed her, earning a glare from Ophelia.
"Don't worry, I will," Ophelia responded with an attitude, not even looking hurt by Klaus practically kicking her out.
With that, Ophelia left Klaus' art exhibition, causing the male hybrid to sigh in defeat, clearly expecting Ophelia to stay and try to talk to him, just as she always did. It was clear.
Even Ophelia was growing tired of Klaus' behavior.
