Chapter 2 - Tragic and misguided

x

The sun was high in the sky, and Sage was wandering around in the great garden outside of the palace. She knew she had to do something, for herself and for Loki. It didn't seem like any of those idiots around there understood that it wouldn't help to lock him up.

She sighed frustrated and messed up her hair by running her hands through it. Hopeless, that was what it was. Completely hopeless. Loki meant so much to her, and she didn't want him to sit rotting in a prison. The thing was that she had no idea at all what to do.

She couldn't get him out, and she didn't know how to change him for the better. If she could do that, then maybe they'd let him, but she knew that the chance was small. Too small really.

She sighed again, but finally she stopped. If she didn't come up with anything soon then it would drive her insane. She couldn't stop worrying about and think about Loki. The problem was that she couldn't do anything to help him, or herself, for that matter.

She started walking again, but this time she walked on by the path, instead of back and forth. Usually the garden would calm her down, but now she was way too full of feelings and stress to keep calm.

That she couldn't do anything, that was the problem. For if she didn't have him, then she honestly did not know what to do. Sage had never really found the meaning of her life, until Loki had come to her. Suddenly it had felt like she had a reason to exist, and now that she was there without him she understood that it really was just like that. He was the meaning with her existence, and that meant that she had to do something.

A shadow came over her, blocking the light of the sun. "Lady Sage, is there something that's bothering you?" A voice said beside her, and she turned to discover that the shadow was the silhouette of the prince of asgard, the older one of course. She shrugged, and shook her head mostly for herself.

"It seems to be that brother of yours." She said and made him smile slightly, but it disappeared quickly when he saw no smile on her face. Sage looked away from him and started pacing back and forth once more while she was mumbling. Something had to be done, that was why she was there.

"Do you have any idea of what can be done?" Thor asked, his eyes stayed on her there she was pacing infront of him. He didn't let her go with his gaze. Many people would probably have asked her to stop walking. They found it annoying when people wouldn't stand still when they were talking to them, but Thor was used to his own brother.

"Because I guess you do wish to do something?" He added, slightly questionning, in case she didn't plan on doing anything. Sage couldn't help but smile a little. It was funny that he would doubt that she would do anything to help his brother. He probably just wouldn't hope to much, just in cas she wasn't going to.

"Of course... but I... I haven't got anything." She groaned and frustratedly ran a hand through her hair. Tears threathened to spill, but she refused to let them. Suddenly she felt a warmth on her shoulder, Thor's big hand had been put there and made her feel calmer at once. Some kind of calmness floated through her body. Everything was still buzzing inside of her, but just to know that Thor was there to help made everything easier for a moment.

"Relax, you are not going to find out anything by stressing. Give it time, for you must remember that for the time being, we have it." He said calmly and Sage nodded slowly. He was right. She felt the stress return at once his hand was taken away, but she took a deep breath and tried to push away everything unnecessary.

"I guess you don't have any ideas, since you're asking me?" She questioned and Thor shook his head. "Afraid not." He said. "I've tried so much to make Loki understand, but nothing I have said has changed anything. It seems like it isn't up to me to get him to see what he has done wrong, but I think maybe someone else can do it." Thor was looking at her while talking and she knew he meant her.

Sage believed that maybe he was right but how, that was the question. How to get Loki to understand? That wasn't easy to figure out. She wished it could be easy but she knew it wasn't. To get a criminal, a mad man, to see that he had done something wrong could even be impossible. Sage just believed that the Loki she once knew existed on the inside and to get him to see you had appeal to that part of him. She knew him, and somehow she had to use that against him.

"I will try Thor, but I really can not promise anything." She said and the thundergod nodded.

"I don't expect that either Sage, I just hoped that you out of anyone might be able to find him again." He said and Sage felt inside that she hoped so herself as well. That she could get back the Loki she once knew, the Loki she was so fond of and the Loki that once had been hers.

"You see, I do love him." Thor admitted. "Even though I know that he's really... tragic and misguided." He smiled slightly. "Well, Odin is waiting for me." He added and then he gave her a short a nod as a goodbye. Then he disappeared in a brisk walking and was soon out of her view. Sage smiled slightly herself.

He really was just that, tragic and misguided, but maybe she could use that against him as well.
