Touch

She felt her lips as she laid in her bed. It was such a bittersweet feeling.
His lips felt so familiar against hers and it was a feeling she longed for, yet it didn't feel the same.
Was it because he was doing it out of bribery?
Either way, she didn't feel as though he meant it. He knew she was his girlfriend, and that his relationship allowed intimacies as such, and that's it. She felt like he didn't know feelings existed in the relationship- as if it was just some kind of job he had to do.
Her heart sunk more and more as she thought deeper about it, so she forced herself to sleep.
---
Of course she would dream of it. It occupied her mind for hours before she could even sleep and now it's haunting her in the only place she thought she could escape it.
She grunted, sitting up from her bed and checking the time. It was far too early in the morning, yet she didn't feel sleepy enough to go back to bed.
The cold floor was shining from the purple sky, and she could only somewhat make out the features in her room. There was no use just sitting on her bed, but her nightmares bothered her that she wasn't able to stand up.
Everything was just... different. Despite having Levi back with his old habits, it's like he's completely rid of his feelings for her along with his old memories.
It felt like such a heavy burden to her. She could almost feel all the gray hair start to colour her head.
Pushing herself to get up, she went out into the living room to prepare some food.
She didn't want to look at him, since she felt angry for what he did the night before. Seriously. He's still an asshole. It's like that was the only thing he remembers about himself.
All morning she ignored him or only gave him one-worded answers. She knew it wasn't right to do so since he was just trying to figure out his life, but what he did last night was just worthy of getting ignored.
"Where are you going?"
"Work." She put on her shoes, ready to leave the door.
"Why are you giving me that?" he asked before she could leave.
"Giving you what?" she felt like she just wanted to run off before any more confrontation happens. "I haven't done anything."
"Are you angry because of last night?" he crossed his arms.
She opened the door to leave, hoping to make a last escape.
"I'm still talking to you." he walked closer to her.
"Yeah, okay! I'm mad. Now I have to leave before I get late for work." she stepped out of the door.
"Don't be an idiot. You said you didn't have work last night." he followed her out and held the door open.
"... They just called me to fill in one of the positions. Someone got sick." smart one. She thought.
"And you think I'm going to believe that? I may have lost my memory but I'm not stupid. Stop making excuses."
She stopped and sighed. Levi was too smart to be fooled.
"Come back inside." he led her back in.
She couldn't help but follow, since she couldn't even make up an excuse anymore.
"Why are you acting like such a child?" he shut the door and leaned on the wall.
She stood there, feeling frozen, as if she could not move an inch.
"I'm... not." she looked away.
"Is it because I said I wasn't going to kiss you until you told me about my past or what? Did you not want to kiss me?" he looked straight at her, making her feel as though he towered over her... despite his height.
She couldn't look at him. She felt like she was being stupid now. "Both, it's both. Okay! I just got upset since you think that this relationship is all a joke and I'm just trying to make it easier for you by letting you take it one step at a time." she almost cried.

He was silent and walked away. He didn't say a word to her, and it hurt her even more. He couldn't even try to apologize.

She could feel the tears forming on her eyes, but she held it in as much as it stung her throat. It seemed like the one time she let her feelings be known, she felt even stupider. She was better off not having said anything in the first place.

She touched the door handle to leave again just so she could avoid him being so cold to her for the day. For months she wanted to see him again, but she's not even sure how it felt like to have him be his old self anymore. He seemed... More distant.

"Where are you going?" He called out loud enough for her to hear.

"I'm heading out." She replied coldly. She knew it wasn't a safe game to play since Levi still didn't know what buttons not to push on her.

"I'm coming with you." He walked towards her and held her hand. "I'm not letting you leave me without this being resolved because I just know it'll ruin my day and won't get anything done."

She couldn't help but freeze and turn red, looking down at their hands. Her cheeks were burning, and suddenly a small tinge of that old feeling came back for a moment.
He looked at her, "What?"
She shook her head, "Nothing." She didn't think she could ever feel shy around Levi again, but she was wrong.
"Lets go to the aquarium."

---
She thought that maybe this would bring back memories of their previous relationship, and would help him ease his way. They waited outside for a while until the aquarium opened; she wanted it so that they were the first people there. It opened at 9 so they sat down on a bench right by the entrance.
"I wasn't intending on making you upset." he randomly mentioned. "I just wanted to know what was happening."

She looked up from her cup of (favourite drink-whatever that is) (A/N: I made it not hot chocolate anymore because its so limiting to the reader, like what if they like coffee? Tea? egg nog? IDK.) contemplating her problem once again. She was going to tell him, she just wanted to do so in the right moment. "It's fine. I should be the one that's sorry. I shouldn't be hiding your past from you. But I promise I will tell you soon, I was just waiting for you to feel a little bit better." She reached for his hand, which laid limp in hers when she grabbed it.

The doors to the aquarium opened not long after, and she led the way in.
There weren't very many people in the aquarium. Occasionally, there would be older people dedicated to waking up at non-human hours everyday that passed by them.
She looked at Levi and smiled. He was so vulnerable and relaxed. It was nice to see him like that.
There was no doubt Levi was completely amazed by the different colours of fish.
"I didn't know these kinds of fish exis..." He turned to look at her, "Why are you staring at me?"

She turned away quickly, "Just remembered something."

"Well, what is it?" he furrowed his brows.

"Well this is the place where we had our first date. I'm not sure if that's the appropriate word, but yeah, this is where we had a proper... date?" she exhaled, thinking about that memory. It seemed reminiscent to her that Levi's reactions were still the same and it made her feel slightly at ease.

"Hm. Well it seems I've chosen well, then." he kept staring into the glass.

She chuckled, "Actually, I was the one who asked you to come here since you didn't even know aquariums existed."

"Why didn't I know they existed? They seem to be a popular place for people to go to." he looked at her.

"...You grew up in a foreign place." she replied, placing a finger on her bottom lip. "Some place that is far too... encased in it's own society, and doesn't really have that much communication with the outside world. Thankfully you were able to come to my worl- country and meet me." she smiled at him.

It was best for her to ease her way to letting him know.

---

When they got home, she felt so exhausted that she collapsed onto her bed. For some reason, this "date" that they had was just more exhausting to her than she remembered. It certainly wasn't because of walking around, rather, she felt like she was exerting a little too much effort into trying to make conversation with Levi.

And she could understand why, mainly because he had nothing to talk about. He had no recollection of any memory that would allow him to relate to her. But even then. She just couldn't feel it in her heart to try so hard in the future.
Of course she still loved him. She wanted it to go back to the way it was, she just wanted for him to get better, but she was just afraid that maybe it won't be the same as before.

She looked up from her bed and onto the table on the corner of her room, beside her bed. The key that was all to familiar laid on top of it, untouched. Enough dust has coalesced on top as though it had been there since time. She sighed, thinking of going to his world. She needed to talk to someone about this.

"(Y/N)," Levi called out to her from outside her room, "someone is at the door for you." She could hear his voice fade away.

She exhaled deeply once more, getting up from her bed and walking out. Levi was outside waiting for her. "They said they were your friends."
"They"? She thought to herself. Who could "they" be? It can't be my actual friends. They are all too busy... unless it's-

"(Y/N)!" Petra called out as (y/n) opened the door with Oulo behind her with his usual, fake stoic stare.

(A/N) wow guess who's disappointed in me??
ME!!! and most likely all the people who have read this in the past year. Please let me explain why.
First of all, sorry if you have been waiting for this for a very very long time. I may have already lost you as my reader and I can respect that decision as I promise to update yet I actually dont.
See, college came around and I reaaaaallly really got busy, crying day and night trying to get my assignments finished. I also started working so it makes it even harder to make time. Now that being said, I cannot guarantee that I will be able to update this as frequently as ever, but I will try to. Please dont take this lightly. I am honestly so busy I dont even have time to actually sleep. But its easter so I have time right now.
I also had a reallllyyy really long writers block and all my vocabulary has been used, trying to spit out essays and research papers.
Gonna be honest though, this would have been updated MONTHS ago, because I was almost done, but the app had to be a dumb dingly dingo and NOT SAVE IT. I honestly cried that night and am in a serious need of a hug and a pat on the back.
Anyways, to all the new readers, welcome and thank you for reading! To all the old ones, thanks for sticking around. Love you all.
