Part 4.3) Nature Watch In Winter: Season of Beauty and Struggle
4.3) Season of Beauty and Struggle
Why is winter a season of struggle?
Thus is because of the way the winter weather disrupts our everyday lives....
Snow highly disrupts arrival times of public transportation and also cars get stuck under the snow or snowdrifts do it too.
You shouldn't go snowboarding or skiing in a avalanche or snowstorm, as this can be extremely dangerous and life-threatening. Avalanches happen mostly in the mountains. For those who don't know, An avalanche is an event that occurs when a cohesive slab of snow lying upon a weaker layer of snow fractures and slides down a steep slope. Which is why we as a modern society, have mountain rescue services.
Winter is harsh because of flu season
In the USA and UK, people usually get seasonal flu between December and March, although outbreaks can happen as early as October and as late as May. There is a preventative shot for the flu, and this virus is much more serious in the elderly with other underlining health conditions.
The cold weather affects mental health significantly.
Vitamin D receptors are also located in regions of the brain linked to depression. Basically, lack of sunlight exposure during the winter months can disrupt your body's release of neurotransmitters related to anxiety and depression. This is linked to Seasonal Affective Disorder. (SAD)
Moving from the downsides of the struggle of Winter.....
Why is the Winter beautiful?
Snow is just SO beautiful: it covers everything like a fluffy white blanket and makes for a picturesque panorama. Snow is also better than rain because you won't get as soaked, and you can actually do activities in it, like skiing or throwing snowballs. Also, Cold weather brings people together, we yearn for warmth, love, and connection. The holidays deliver big family meals, endless gratitude, and it just seems like time moves a little bit slower than usual. When the first winter breeze blows through the trees you can feel the magic in the air.
Winter is also the best time to view the Aurora Borealis (The Northern Lights.)
They occur most frequently in a belt of radius 2500 km centered on the magnetic north pole. This so-called auroral zone extends over northern Scandinavia, Island, the southern tip of Greenland and continuing over northern Canada, Alaska and along the northern coast of Siberia.
The northern lights are magical if you see them.
The Winter Season is the most photographed season
Winter is the most photographed season, for its beauty is so photogenic and the beauty of the season makes excellent arts and photography focus and inspiration. For example, a NYC photo landscape on the winter time.
Winter is peaceful
As snow dampens sound, as the snowfall doesn't make noise, so winter is also a time for peace, love and quiet. Winter in music white noise.
The sounds and peace of winter also makes the season magical and so beautiful.
