For the first time in a long time almost all of his childrens where in the manor, but unfortunately it was not for good reasons.
Davina's mother had died and Damián mad her had return to Gotham for the funeral and since Tim and Jason were her friends too they came to offer her support during this whole process.
Bruce had saw Davina when she first came with Damián and she didn't look like someone who was mourning, she looked... Distracted.
But he assumed that it was to be expected for all Bruce knew Davina had no idea of how to deal with lost so she was probable still on shock.
So right now all they could do for her was wait and be for her.
.
"Davina?" He asked when he found her in the same spot that she was hiding all those years ago when she was still new on the manor.
"Hi" she said not raising her look from the floor.
"What are you doing here?" Bruce wanted to know curious about the fact that his son's left the girl alone.
"My Lela Called" Davina answered "the priest wants for someone to say some words about my mom on the memorial and she asked me if I could do it"
"Oh... I see"
"So I was trying to write something about her but..." Davina bit her lips and finally looked up "the only things I know about her is that she always came to tired to our house to spent time with me or my brother, that she was in an unhappy marriage and had screaming matches with my dad most of the time"
"Look Davina" he said offering his hand for her to take "I didn't knew your mother but" Bruce smiled when she took his hand and he help her to stand "I am sure that she loved you"
And he really meant it and hoped that Dav—
"Of course you would think that" Davina murmured low raising to her feet's looking at him with hatred?
Resentment?
He wasn't sure what it was, but it was something pure and deep, an emotion that he never thought that he'll see on the usually kind eyes of the girl.
"Excuse me?" He asked slowly taking a step back giving her some space.
"She left me" Davina said more emotional than before "she abandoned me when I needed her. You have any idea how does it feel like you are not enough for the only person in the world that is supposed to love you?"
"I—"
"Of course you don't, or you wouldn't do the same to Damián" she answered with rage in her voice but that wasn't what he cared right now.
"What has Damián to do with any of this?" Bruce asked feeling more defensive.
"You truly don't know" Davina let a sarcastic laugh from her lips "you know why Damián and me are so good together? Because we both have spent our life feeling like no matter what we do I'll would never be enough to make someone love us"
"That's... That's not true" he denied quickly even when a part of him knew better "Damián knows that I love him"
"Does he? You truly think that if he knew that you love him he would put his life on the line every night to prove that he is no longer the child assassin that came to your house all those years ago?"
"He... " Tried to defend himself but he knew, he had always knew that the reason that Damián had to push himself so hard was because he still tried to prove himself to him.
"We both give, and give, and give until we don't longer have anything else to give, and you know what's the worst?" She asked with unshred tears on her eyes "when we have nothing else... We still blame ourself for not being enough, and we made all this excuses for people like you that maybe the reason why you can't not love us it's because there's something bad with us, because we are so unlovable that it's not your fault that you could live us, is ours" Davina said with a tone so visceral and emotional that Bruce knew that it could only be real and what she said was probably what she felt her whole life but had never had the guts to say out loud before.
And it was probably the same way that Damián felt.
And Bruce didn't knew what to do when a true that he have being avoiding for so long was presented right to his face.
"goodnight mister Wayne" Said Davina leaving him alone with the guilt like a fresh wound on his chest.
.
"I was supposed to say something about my mother" said Davina in the church with her family and some friends of her mother. "Say that I would miss her, and that it was a great loss and it is, just not the way that most could think"
She took a deep breath and watched the coffin with her mother's body on it for a second — She barely recognize the woman on the coffin, it felt like an stranger, it felt wrong —
"I didn't knew my mother's favorite colour, her dreams or what made her happy, I always thought that she'll come back to my life someday and... And we would talk" Davina took a deep breath and let it go "and that's what I lost, not a mother because I lost that when I was a child. I lost the opportunity of knowing her of asking why she left, why we weren't enough..." Why I wasn't enough... She didn't say but everyone who knew her could heard it.
"Anyway, I hope that you find the peace that you were looking for" she said finally and left the altar where her brother and Damián hug her and sat next to her.
Vina knew that she wasn't okay, and she haven't being for a very long time.
But now she was ready to ask for help.
And really hoped that the therapist that Alfred recommended her had still time for her.
