Two: Hiding Supplies
Aspen: Hey peeps, its Aspen here. Nice to talk to myself and hope people read it again! Haha anyways! Today's skill is how to hide supplies from anyone who might try to take your things. There are a few ways to do this so I'll tell you three different ways I've used before. Having nosy siblings is hard, especially when you have things you don't want them seeing. All of these are things I've done on camping trips, since I don't have my closet or drawers to hide things in.
1.) Holes. (You have to do this in a grassy area for it to work.) Firstly measure it a bit to find how big you need it. Make a measurement about a few inches longer than you need. I normally just need a foot by foot square for my things. After you measure, cut/rip/carefully dig that long of a grass square, and try to keep it all together. Then, since you've measured an inch or two more than you need, dig the amount you need out so you have a small ledge where the grass will lay. If you dug it too deep and the grass sags or falls in, use a stick to prop it up by laying it horizontal off the ledge. And there! You now have a small secret spot to hide your things. Try to make it where you don't thing any one will step. I do it in grass patches under bushes so nobody will go by it. If you don't think it'll work, try the next one.
2.) Branches. Using branches will work for me half the time. People are to busy watching for Walkers/Zs/Corpses to watch the trees. If you find enough branches to hold a bag or two up you can do this. And you also have to be able to climb trees. Find a few branches close together. Collect a large amount of branches and weave them to the branch clutter the best you can. (Try to find bendy branches, it'll make it easier to weave.) Once you've weaved the branches in, test it too make sure you can put your supplies in it without them falling. I've made the mistake of using weak branches and my secret shopkin stash fell on my brother's head. That's all for this tactic. I have one easy way left.
3.) Plain sight. Nobody ever hides something in plain sight. Well nobody but me. I've done it multiple times, hide something in a shallow (but murky) pond. Or even lather it in mud and put it beside the stream. I've also used moss and rocks to hide stuff. I just pile rocks on it and/or moss. This way is very effective. I've tested it with my dog once by hiding their ball in a stream, then under rocks, then covered it in mud and hid it with the dock leaves.
So, any of these work, really. Just try them all and see what your best at working with.
