Cookies and Dream

I DO NOT OWN GRAVITY FALLS

"And so, if we carry the three and divide by zero..." the teacher reaches into the oven next to her and pulls out a tray. On the tray are 25 perfectly made cookies, exactly the same shape. "You get the perfect cookie." The whole class looks confused. The teacher sighs, "You have all the just follow the recipe on your sheets and you should be fine." The class turns around to their own work stations and get started. Dipper is reading out the instructions and Pacifica is putting things into the bowl. Mable is talking with Candy and Grenda, seemingly already having given up on the cookies they were supposed to make.

"Why is it we do algebra in this class than in actual maths," Dipper asks, holding the instructions sideways in an attempt to understand the mix of hieroglyphics and maths written across the page. Pacifica pours the contents of the bowl out and rolls it flat, cutting circular shapes out of the surface with a cookie cutter before placing them on the backing tray. She places the tray into the oven bellow the counter and closes the door. Dipper looks up from the recipe. "How did you do that, I haven't even worked out what the first line says yet?"

Pacifica twirls a strand of hair next to her ear. "I needed some kind of hobby after you and Mable left. I couldn't spend the whole time praying that you would come back." She blushes a little.

Dipper tucks the strand of hair behind her ears. "You obviously spent enough time praying, here I am."

Pacifica giggles. The teacher crosses the floor over to them. "Since you have time to talk I assume you are done making the dough."

"Actually miss, we are done. Look." Pacifica opens the oven door and a blast of hot air followed by the smell of warm cookie dough blasts past them.

The teacher uncrowded her arms. "I see, well thats alright then. The cookies won't be done for an hour or so, so you two can go to lunch early. When you get back we'll take them out and decorate them."

Pacifica takes Dipper by the hand and leads him out of the classroom. They walk down the hallway towards the lunch hall, but suddenly Pacifica pulls on Dippers hand and takes him down a different corridor.

"Hey Paz, where are we going. The lunch room is that way." He points back in the direction they came.

Pacifica isn't phased. "We have a long lunch remember, we have plenty of time to go there later. For now, I want to show you something."

They come to a security door at the end of a corridor and Pacifica opens it. Behind it is a set of stairs which Pacifica starts to climb, still golding firmly onto Dippers hand. They get to the top of the stairs and reach another security door. Pacifica swings it open to reveal the roof of the school, overlooking the city. Laid out in front of them are a selection of baked goods and sandwiches, all placed on a fluffy blanket. Dipper is stunned. "Pacifica, did you do all this?"

She lifts her foot slightly and rubs the back of her other leg with it, blushing the whole while. "Well, you showed me that amazing spot before, and I know it is a place close to your heart. I found this place during my first term here, back when people still thought I was the same brat from before. I got bullied a lot, so I spent my free time here to get away from them."

Dipper gives Pacifica a tender hug, resting her head on his shoulder. "I can see this place means a lot to you, thank you for showing it to me."

"I wanted to share it with you, since you are the reason I don't need it any more. You are my new safe space. Come on, let's eat."

They sit on the blanket and eat their lunch, talking about their time together and what they plan for the future, but also sometimes sitting in silence enjoying the time they are spending together. As the lunch bell goes to signal its time to go back to class, Dipper turns to Pacifica. "I love you."

"I love you too."
