At Work and at Play

I DO NOT OWN GRAVITY FALLS

Dipper is carrying a large box out of the attic in the mystery shack. He grunts and groans as the box buckles and bends as he carries it on his back. At the bottom of the stairs eagerly awaits a smiling Pacifica, her grin stretched from ear to ear. Dipper finally reaches the bottom of the stairs and places the box at Pacifica's feet. "I knew it was still up their somewhere, I remembered seeing it when me and Mabel were last here."

Dipper opens the box, inside is games consol that looks as if it predated mankind on the moon. "A gamebox ZE," Dipper says, lifting the massive console from the box. "You said you wanted to try out playing video games, well here it is."

"Dipper, I hate to break it to you, but this thing looks like a medium breeze could cause it to break."

"Yeah, well all of my games consoles were destroyed along with my house, so unless you want to fork out for a newer one this is the best we've got."

Pacifica shrugs, "I guess you're right. So how does it work exactly."

Dipper places the console in front of the TV. He looks at the back and finds a tangled mess of wires, some of which he's never seem before. A few hours of trial and error later, all the wires had been untangled and arranged properly into the correct slots on the TV. Dipper presses the on button and the screen flares to life with all the colours available in the early 1980s. The company logo flashes across the screen before the saddening words "insert game cartridge" appeared on a black background. Dipper looks around frantically. "I thought the games would be already on the thing, I didn't realise we needed extra. Pacifica can you check the box?"

Pacifica goes into the box. "I found one, it was underneath this weird mat with arrows on it." Pacifica holds up the mat, it's square with arrows point in all direction around the edges.

"Hold on a second, thats a dance mat. And if that's a dance mat, it can only mean that the game is..." He grabs it from the box and blows off the dust. "The original home release of Fancy Pants revolution, the game that tricks you into exercising."

"Fancy Pants what?" Pacifica looks confused, still holding the dance mat.

"It's a dancing game, originally in arcades but this is the home version." Dipper put put cartridge into a slot originally hidden by a plastic grill. The screen changes from black to vibrant 80s nostalgia. He takes the dance mat and plugs it into a slot at the front of console where the controllers usually go. He expertly navigates the song collection and picks one. "The game is simple, a song will play and arrows will appear on the screen. You push the corresponding arrow on the mat with your feet and before you know it you are dancing." He plays a few scores of the song before pushing the mat towards Pacifica. She was about to get on the mat when Mabel walks through the door.

"Hey Dip Dop, Soos is looking for you... OMG IS THAT FANCY PANTS REVOLUTION!" She runs onto the mat and at almost the speed of lightning selects a song. "Watch closely nerds, you're about to see a pro in action."

Dipper was about to speak up when Pacifica stops him. "It's fine Dipper, she'll tire herself out eventually, and look," she points at Mabel's neck. "She isn't wearing her necklace, she probably needs the distraction for a few hours. Come on, let's go upstairs. You did all this for me and I need to reward you." Pacifica leads Dipper up the stairs as Mabel continues to play the game. The come down again a few hours later and she is still there, dancing like there was no tomorrow.
