Well Now Mama, Were All Full Of Lies
Percy
The new recruit.
My ex-boyfriend from Goode.
Yeah...
Even better, the only reason we broke up is because I was missing for a year and we technically didn't break up, but we never saw each other, I was sent to another school this last year. Lost contact. Started dating Freshmen year. Which is another reason I tried turning Annabeth down but. He somehow understood, I mean. He knew I was gay. I was honest about all of it. And then, well, I went missing a week later.
At dinner, I was sitting with Grover.
"So how'd recruiting go?" I ask.
"Good," Grover tells me as he sat down," he's our age, actually. From the city. Not claimed yet. And by the way, Chiron offered he could stay in your cabin considering Hermes is jammed packed full. "
"Fine with me," I tell my best friend," I mean, it does get lonely some days. Where are they?"
"Big House, should be here any minute."
Grover
As Percy went up to get his food, William sat down with us. William Patterson. Not related to James Patterson.
"So who am I staying with now?" William asked me as he sat down, and I point at Percy.
"Him." I tell him.
He glanced over at the son of Poseidon and looked back over at me.
"You're joking." William told me.
"No, that's who you're sharing a cabin with."
Percy was then pulled off to the side by Chiron and Mr. D.
"Do you know Percy?" I asked the guy. And he nods his head.
"I went to school with him for two years." He tells me. "Freshmen and sophomore year. Then he suddenly went missing and everyone just kind of assumed he died after a while, he never came back. Never called. We had been dating when he went missing."
Oh god. Oh, this is that William. The William Percy never shut up about that Annabeth never believed existed. Oh god.
After dinner considering Percy spent it discussing I don't even know what with Chiron, who looked concerned, I showed William to Cabin 3, and choosing a room, he accidentally went into Percy's room and quickly got out, Percy didn't notice. He was in his room.
William chose another room and I left.
William
So I'm sharing a cabin with my boyfriend who is also my ex technically but not officially an ex-boyfriend.
I didn't really look when I went into his room, I just heard his voice and got out quickly. I wonder where everyone else is in the cabin. The way it sounds, almost all cabins have at least a handful of demigods in them. 3 at minimum.
Once I finished unpacking the backpack I had with me because they got me from a hotel trip, I decided to look around the cabin and in the room between mine and Percy's it wasn't empty, but it looked like it had been abandoned a while ago, it could use a dusting. I don't remember Percy mentioning a brother, but maybe I just don't recall it. Above the beg was a huge framed photo of Percy, Grover, a dude with one eye, and a chick with blonde hair all sitting at the beach. It was older. Probably before 9th grade, before we met. Maybe even like 8th grade. They all seemed happy.
Because I'm a curious person, when Percy left the cabin, I went in his room.
It was fairly neat, a nice layout. A twin bed on the right side, against the wall, with an end table by, which is where I walked over to.
On the table was two framed photos. The first one was old. And by old. He couldn't be no older than 13 in the photo. Him, Grover, and that blonde chick again. Those three seemed to be good friends. And then next to it was another framed photo, older, of us on the last date we got to go on before he went missing. The day before he went missing. I had adopted a kitten that day and we showed the kitty around the city. Jack. I named the kitty Jack. The photo was of Jack on Percy's head and I had given him a kiss on the cheek. That was an amazing day. We were supposed to get some fish the next day since the fish store was closed but he never showed up, his Mom told me he was gone when they woke up.
Along with those photos was the phone he next to never used and a crumpled up piece of paper, that I opened. And in his handwriting it said call William!
I changed my number a month after he disappeared because my phone was ruined and they changed it on me, then they got rid of the home phone.
So I know he tried, at least. I mean, even if he didn't call, he had the intent to. He didn't forget about us. Which is what I was afraid he'd do if he ever got back.
I figured that was enough to see as I walked out of his room and grabbed myself a mango from the fridge. Percy has always been big on eating fruits and staying healthy although he still loves his Mom's cookies. He always made sure he stayed healthy.
I soon found out why.
Suddenly I heard a mob of people outside and I looked out, they were all heading to like an arena amphitheatre place, so I decide to follow.
The place quickly filled up, Chiron was on stage, somebody else off the side, I couldn't make out who.
"Alright, calm down, relax." Chiron said, silencing everyone, earning their attention. "Nobody is in trouble, there's no fighting to be done. Relax. I'll let Percy explain what this all is behind me before we get started."
Percy came on stage and he's changed. A lot. In just a year and a half. It was sort of insane.
"Hello, everyone," Percy said," I'll quickly introduce myself because I know we have a few new campers I haven't had the chance to meet yet. My name is Percy Jackson, I lead Camp Half-Blood, the son of Poseidon. We forgot to get the word out, but we're here pretty much as a massive funeral. As some of you know, and others may now, the last three years here at Camp Half-Blood and possibly at Camp Jupiter also, have been war-torn and with how continuos the issues were we never had time to pay respects to our demigods that fell. I can't list everyone, there's too many. But a few had been Castor Wilson, Charles Beckendorf, and Gwen Maria. Some people gave shrines, some people are in coffins, it just depended on if their body was ever found and what not. If you don't want to stay, maybe you weren't here or whatever, feel free to leave. It'll be open to wonder until Friday after lunch."
People start wandering around and I figured now would be a good time to say hi.
Let me explain that I have changed.
When we had been dating I had light brown hair and dork glasses, usually wore pretty random outfits and yeah.
Now I had pastel blue hair, had gotten contacts about six months ago, and my outfits usually consist of either black and white shirts or something from hot topic and like skinny jeans and converse.
He was just standing outside, down by the lake docks, looking out to the water. He always swimming. He was on swim team, loved the ocean. Now it made a bit more sense. He taught me how to swim because I was clueless, considering my dad feared water since my aunt drowned when they were little so. We don't swim and Mom is never home anymore.
"Hi." I piped in amidst the silence and he jumped and turned around to face me.
"Oh, hi." Percy said," you're new here, right? Like I said, I haven't met this year's recruits yet."
"Uh, yeah." I answer, knowing he hadn't recognized me," I'm the one you share a cabin with."
"Oh!" He said. "Yeah, Grover told me I'd be sharing my cabin. Which is totally fine, I haven't had anyone there with me in a few years now, so. Sorry I wasn't there to eat, Chiron pulled me off to side for crap. Did you already get your stuff there or not? Did nobody show you where it was?"
"Grover brought me," I tell him," I just figured I'd say hi so you weren't freaked when there was a random dude in your cabin."
"I would've figured it out eventually."
We both head back to the cabin and I head in my room and he heads in his and it took him 20 minutes to realize he didn't know my name.
"Wait!" Percy said. And popped his head in my room. "What's your name?"
"William." I answered.
"Hm," he remarked," funny. I dated a guy named William."
He returned to his room
An hour later he knocked on my door and I put down my sketchpad.
"Its open."
He opened the door, guilt plastered all over his face.
"So first of all. I'm a horrible person to not recognize you when I have a photo of you right next to my bed."
I just rolled my eyes.
"I dyed my hair, got contacts, and changed my wardrobe, I didn't expect you to recognize me." I assured him. "Then again, I also didn't expect you here. Or for this to exist."
"Most people don't." Percy told me," so how has it been ever since I disappeared?"
"Okay," I answered his question," I mean, nothing great happened. Mom got another job so now she's never home. Dad's been the same, Jack had doing good. I had a heart attack when you wouldn't your damn phone the next day but your Mom told me you weren't there when she woke up, so. What had happened anyways? I was never told, your step-dad never talked about it. Everyone sort of assumed you died."
"... I figured that when they transferred me," Percy replied to that. "Um, Hera swiped me and placed me in California without my memory, somebody brought me to the Roman Camp. Shit went down there. Got my memory back, was sent to Greece to fight a fucking war, fell into Hell, literally, on the way in Italy, got out in Athens I believe and we got to Epirus, took care of everything, came back, shit went down here. Peace was restored, and due to excessive absence I couldn't return to Goode so I transferred to Ali High School for my Senior Year and graduated. I tried to call but my phone was crushed and I typed in your number but it came up as invalid or whatever. I meant to get ahold of you and just it never happened and-"
"I know," I told him," calm down, they changed my number and we got rid of our home phone so even if you would have called I never would have gotten it. How's your mom doing? I heard she was expecting."
"She was yeah," Percy said," she gave birth in... March it was. Late March. Baby girl. Bianca Tyler Blofis."
"Nice," I remarked, " Jack missed you, by the way, when you weren't there to visit him."
Percy gives me a look.
"Are you trying to make me feel more guilty than I already do?"
"Yes." I answer, standing up and walking over to where he was, and placed my hands on his hips.
"Rude," Percy remarked back to my answer with a small smile and I smiled back at him, planting a kiss on his lips. Unsure of what he'd do. Its been a while, he could've moved on.
The demigods arms snaked around my waist as his lips moved with mine and after a few moments of bliss we both pulled apart from the kiss and leaned our foreheads against the other. Both with smiles on our face.
"I missed you," my boyfriend told me.
"I missed you, too."
