Realm strolled around the tagia village, ve was on vis older brother's server and the only other people online were vis brother-in-law and some person ve never met. Realm had some fish in vis hand, ve originally came here looking for a fox but ve found a cat instead.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. C'mere kitty kitty kitty..." Ve said as ve held out the fish. The black cat stalked forward cautiously before snatching the fish from vis hand. Some chasing around and a few fish later a bright red collar finaly materialized around the cat's neck.

Realm laughed and picked up the cat joyously before grabbing vis communicator.

No one responded but ve didn't mind. "Come on, let's go home where it's safe." Realm said to the black cat. Ve started the trek over the hill and across the plains to vis small log house.

Realm put the cat down and dyed its collar black. Ve knelt down to stare into its eyes. "Now, tell me your name." A few seconds went by, but instead of a name appearing ve got a vision instead.

Realm was standing in a small hollow surrounded by hills. There was no brush and the sky was dark, making everything appear a dark blue-teal. Thousands of stars glittered ahead and a waxing crescent moon hung above. The moon was a lot bigger than it normally was.

Realm turned vis attention to the silver tree stump in the middle of the hollow, it shone in the moonlight. Atop it stood the cat ve found, its amber eyes seemed to glow, it was a beautiful contrast against the dark blues and grays. Then its eyes glowed brighter, the light of the moon flashed and Realm was back in the waking world.

The black cat stared at vir, it knew what she saw, Realm didn't even know how to turn that image into a name. "I think... I'll just call you Null..."

Any time Realm had gotten another animal naming it had been easy. The horse was named Dimitri, the new cat was named Dolly and the wolf was named Cornflower. But that was the first, and so far the only, time there was no name to be spoken.
