Deja Vu
Nico quietly made his way to Hope's room, bent on catching up with her. She hadn't had a moment to just simply catch up on what she had missed, no, instead she had been thrust in to yet another disaster. Knocking quietly on the door he heard nothing. Taking the door handle he turned it and stepped inside so he could see if she was there.
She wasn't, the bed was still made and nothing had been touched.
With a small smile he realized where she would go, she would always retreat to the same place. The roof. It was a small matter to shadow travel to the roof, and when the darkness around him dissipated he spotted her where she always was, on the edge of the rooftop.
" Getting with the times?" He inquired with a small note of surprise.
She had changed out of her customary greek robes, morphing them in to denim jeans, a faded blue shirt and an old pair of black sneakers.
She turned when he spoke, a small smirk on her face.
" I thought it wise, don't want our intergalactic visitors finding out I'm an Ancient Greek embodiment of Hope, now, do we?" Hope joked halfheartedly.
Nico chuckled quietly and sat down beside her, dangling his feet over the edge as they surveyed the city night lights.
" I'm getting a sense of total deja vu. Before the battle against your evil siblings we sat and talked here. figured you come here now," Nico commented when the silence dragged on.
Hope leaned her head against his shoulder, a soft sigh escaping her as she shimmied closer. Her eyes were distant as she absently fingered the ' orb ' attached to her necklace.
" It's a good place to think about everything thats happening. Nothing has really changed since I was last up here," Hope sighed, her breath frosting in front of her.
Nico pulled his black coat around them both, earning another smile from Hope and a small murmur of relief.
" Your right, nothing much has changed, it's not like what Steve went through when he woke up in the present after being frozen for so many years. The difference is that your now fused with a mysterious power orb," Nico replied with a steady voice, gently opening up the conversation to what he knew she was dying to talk about.
She stiffened slightly against his shoulder, a grimace crossing her small features.
" I still have no clue how that got there, or what it does. I feel no different, and yet I'm terrified of what this thing might do! What if I hurt someone, Nico? I don't want to be fused with a weapon of mass destruction, haven't I suffered enough? Haven't we all suffered enough?" Hope vented angrily, tears threatening to spill from her bright eyes.
Nico pulled her in to a side hug, drawing her closer and murmuring to her as tears started falling down her cheeks.
" You survived Pandora's box, you can survive anything. Besides, no one knows what is going to happen. Whatever happens you'll have the Ghost King by your side, old friend, I promise you that," Nico assured.
Hope laughed quietly between the tears, looking up at him from his shoulder as she laughed.
" A befitting nickname, son of Hades. However, this girl has been asleep for too long and has a real hankering for some ice cream. Think we can find some?" Hope murmured playfully when her tears subsided.
Nico chuckled at that, and they slowly got to their feet, still hearing his coat in the frosty air.
" Oh I think we've earned it. Come on, with Piper and Annabeth's ice-cream obsession theres bound to be some," Nico assured.
With ice-cream bowls in hand, the two of them tiptoed out of the kitchen, hoping not to wake anyone up since it was getting late. Hope and Nico started to eat their chocolate chip ice cream, sending each other conspirital glances as they tried and failed to keep quiet. That failed when Nico got ice cream on his nose and went crosseyed trying to get it off. Hope couldn't stop giggling and neither could Nico as she leant over and brushed it off his nose.
The two of them kept eating until Nico paused stared at the window behind her. She glanced outside and her gaze locked on what he was seeing, it was enough to make her almost choke on her ice-cream.
A lady with blue skin and strange clothing was flying towards their window on a strange hover board looking thing, a pistol held loosely in her hands, and she was set to crash straight through their window.
Before Hope could react she felt Nico grab her arm and they disappeared in shadow before reappearing in the hangar.
" The crazy lady's back!" Nico hissed urgently.
