Chapter 4: A Guardian's Show
"What do you mean the leaders of Team Magma and Team Aqua are your uncles?!" Ash did not take the information lightly.
"Puh-lease! They're not bad at all!" Sapphire chuckles as she fiddles with the golden anchor on her necklace, framing a megastone.
"Well, they did almost destroy the world and-" Ash is cut off by Gale.
"That was an accident. You probably don't even know what Team Aqua and Team Magma have become, do you?" Gale blows her bangs off her face.
"Who are Team Aqua and Team Magma?" I ask. They must be some villanous group.
"Team Aqua was created by Archie, my uncle. He was afraid that the water type Pokemon would run out of water to live in as they continued to reproduce. So he came up with the brilliant idea of using Kyogre's primal reversion to cause a mass flooding in the Hoenn region, providing the Pokemon dwelling in water more habitat!" She proclaims proudly, as if being related to a gang leader is a good thing.
"Likewise. My uncle, Maxie, was afraid that the people and Pokemon living on land would run out of habitat as they reproduced. So, he decided to use Groundon's primal reversion to dry up all the water providing a never ending habitat for us on land." Gale smiles on completing her explanation.
"They almost destroyed Hoenn!" Ash yells, as if to them that they're missing the big point.
"Forgive and forget, is it? You need to let go of the past." Gale rolls her eyes as she rubs the megastone on her glasses.
"Y'know, you are talking to Team Aqua and Team Magma's future leaders!" Sapphire jumps out of the pure joy of being associated with them.
"But you guys are gonna become criminals!" I step back, the new information hard to digest.
"Here at the Guardians Guild, you can live on, not letting your past weigh on you. Of course, you can embrace it, or you can ignore it. This is why Theresa calls you guys by your last names. Until you learn that, you won't be accepted here." Summer gives us a quizzical look.
"And you shouldn't argue about topics you don't know. Currently, Team Aqua and Team Magma are investigating their respective legendaries. They're thinking about other ways to solve their problems. And their rivalry, its grown to be a part of their own culture. Its at its competitive peak, but also, is a friendly rivalry. These teams have actually invented tools to help us combat the forces of nature, saving lives." Gale sighs. "But you don't realize that." She looks down miserably.
"We're sorry you two." Calem gives them a pat on the head before Pylvia speaks.
"C'mon, the concert is starting an hour!" Sapphire and Gale exchange excited looks, while we exchange confused looks.
The guardian of Mew walks over.
"I have a name you know." She looks at me, as if to question my thoughts.
"How did yo-" I begin to ask her.
"I just have really good intuition. My name is Mirai by the way. I would've thought you'd remember it. Its one of the more unique names." She giggles before walking towards the center of the group.
"As Pyl just told you, the concert starts in an hour." She turns to face me, Calem, and Ash. "You remember Melody, the guardian of Meloetta, right? Well, she is a performer and a pop idol, that's the gist of it. I see you understand! So we're just gonna go watch it. Its nine, and the concert starts at 9:30. Mel is at the limo, c'mon!" She starts to jog towards the villa.
"What?" Calem stares at her blankly.
"She said that she has really good intuition." I explain. We just shrug and follow her.
Once at the garage, we can how nice the cars they have are. They have two vans and a limo. Outside, a bus with the words "Camp Guardian" can be seen.
"Glad to see you guys could make it!" Melody is standing by the limo. "Come on in, we'll explain there." Melody steps in the limo, followed by the rest of us.
The limo is big enough to for fifteen people in the middle, with three in the front. The seats are back, neon lights on the floor and ceiling. The seats circle around the center, hosting a small table. On the back wall, a flat screen TV can be seen. We all take our seats.
Calem is looking around the limo in awe, before resting a hand on his chin and proceeded to think.
"I know, it was expensive, but through our personal efforts, we managed to get this far." Mirai smiles before taking a remote. Pressing a button, she motion towards the screen, flickering on.
"This will explain where we're going." We all look to the screen. On it, Melody appeared to be dancing in front of a crowd, all waving glow wands. The sounds of the scene could faintly be heard under the voice over, of which sounded to be a young man.
"Be entranced by the mythical Pokémon Meloetta. She and her guardian will be singing before Lumiose City's performance tonight, which she will also be competing in. Get your tickets tonight!" He announces.
"The showcase is being held at the prism tower, in its basement. Melody and Mirai are entering, and you may too Serena." Gale tilts her head towards me.
"Mel is soooo popular! She's definitely gonna win Kalos Queen, with Mai as a close second!"
"I'm not even sure I'll make it to the be a Kalos Princess. I'm not nearly as good Melody." Mirai like at her friends, her wavy chopped Bob shaking.
"Don't say that! You're amazing!" Melody assures her friend, an ever present smile plastered on her face.
"I think Serena is gonna win!" Ash yells, causing the driver to look back at us through the mirror. I blush at the complement.
"Then she better bring it! She has serious completion against Mai and Mel, especially against Mel!" Sapphire replies, a smirk on her face. Mirai nodds vigorously as if to say she agrees.
"Calm down Sapphire. We haven't even seen them perform." Gale hushes her friend.
"But they haven't seen Mel and Mai perform." Pylvia reminds her.
"Pyl does bring up a point." Mirai cocks her head, a hand on her chin.
"I don't mean to be sudden, but Pylvia, what hobbies do you have. Sapphire and Gale appear to be into battling, and Melody and Mirai seem to be into performing." I ask her.
"You forgot me, I'm into driving!" The driver chuckles from the front. "My name is Carla Vies, the guild's personal messager and driver, and the guardian of Virizion! Call me Car though. Everyone calls me that because I'm a driver, and my name is Carla! Nice to meet you! I'm the one of brought that boy over there, Xavier, was it?" Carla chuckles again before focusing on the road.
"Xavier is my last name, my first name is Calem." Calem shakes his head in agnst.
"I'm into contests. I'm from Hoenn, and contests are a big part of that culture! Don't know why I was given a guardian from Kalos, but me and Diancie are great friends." Pylvia fiddles with key, held on the bag with a clasp like a keychain.
"I knew a coordinator from Hoenn! Her name was May Maple!" At the Mention of another one of Ash's traveling companions, I tense.
"I know May! You've probably met Drew then, huh? I'm surprised they're not dating. I mean the roses and all. I'm supposed you and-" Pylvia is cut off by Melody, who gives me stare. Right after I loosened my muscles, I begin to blush maddly.
"No need to talk about that. I'm just wondering, shouldnt Bonnie and Clemont be there? I mean, Clement's the gym leader there." Melody directs her question to Carla.
"Ron's got you covered." Carla takes a peek to the cars left side. The limo nearly jerks to a stop as she honks the horn. I look out the window and see a speeding car. When our horn is honked, the driver begins to drive slowly, opening their side window.
"Ron! You got all of them? You need to drive more carefully! Wouldn't want the bunch dead!" She chuckles again, before waiting for his reply. She definitely has a sense of humor.
"Sorry CA, I got all of them. See ya there." Both the drivers close the windows before driving onwards. Soon, we enter Prism Tower. Its around 9:20, so not many people have arrived. We walk down a set of stairs that I had no idea were there. I would've never guessed that there was an expansive contest hall.
"Hey Serena, if you enter, you won't have to go to the dressing rooms until the opening acts are done. Just a heads up." Melody gives me an innocent smile before moving on with Mirai.
"She's moving like there's a camera nearby or something. Its like she needs to make sure that she is perfect for the camera at all times." Calem notes about Melody.
"She was raised surrounded by celebrities. She knows showbiz, as she calls it. 'You need to give off a positive impression or its all for waste.' That's what she always says." Pylvia explains. "Go catch up with Mai and Mel, they'll explain how to enter. I do as Pylvia says and enter the showcase.
I follow Mirai up the staircase to our balcony seating. One that really sticks out is her name. Its so different from Theresa, but is a nice name.
"Thanks for the complement!" Mirai chuckles. "My dad's name is Yuri, and he insisted on giving me a creative name. My mom's name is Alisson, Alice for short, and she likes simpler names." I pause for a moment. I hadn't remembered her 'good intuition'. "It can be hard to get used to, it was for all my friends here."
"I'm sorry, its just a bit surprising." I take a step and land at the top of the staircase. Mirai pauses for a second and looks at me.
"Its okay, though I would've swore you were about to say 'a tad'." She laughs before walking towards our balcony.
The balcony is huge. Velvet couches are lined up all around it, some in the center. Coffee tables are in front of them, some with coffee or scones.
"Really is luxurious." Calem looks around.
"Hey Sere, come sit with me!" Ash motions towards the seat next to him. As I walk towards him, Calem grabs my wrist.
"C'mon, we're the guardians of bitter rivals, better get to know each other." I give him a look of uncertainty. Ash grabs my hand as well.
"I asked her first."
"Well sitting with me would be more practical." I stand in the center of this arguement perplexed. Pylvia and Mirai chuckle off to the side. Gale sighs and Sapphire laughs.
"Enough bickering kids. Let the girl choose." Ron, I think, stands in front of me, glaring at the boys. They let go of me and I look to both my sides. They both give me looks of pleading.
"I, umm." I look at both of them. My instincts tell me to choose Ash, but I don't want to offend Calem.
"Go with that boy, Ketchum. He asked first." Ron sighs before sitting back down next to Carla. "When do you think they'll learn, CA?" Carla just shrugs. I take a seat next Ash, who grins at me. I instantly begin to blush, like an idiot.
"Hey Serena, do you want anything to eat?" Carla asks from her seat.
"No thanks!" I reply. Mirai takes a seat next to me, followed by Pylvia taking the seat next to Mirai.
"Hello fair people of the Kalos region!" The over obnoxiously French Pierre announces. "Today, we have a special performance from one of our coordinators! Meloetta and her guardian, Melody Arenoa!
The amazing singing sensation! Please welcome her, and enjoy her song, Candy Candy!" The curtains open from behind him, as he steps off to the side.
On the stage, Melody is standing there. She is looking down, and the lights are turned low. The music starts and the lights begin to turn on. She pulls a key out of her decorative headband. She flashes it in front of the audience, before swiping it in front of her.
"Meloetta! Its performance time!" The key begins to glow, as the mythical pokemon appears in front of her. They step forwards and begin to sing, dancing all the while.
The song they sang, cuz I'm lazy!

That's a wrap! Cuz I'm too lazy to write more! And because this is around 2000 words long. Just to inform you guys, updates may be slow. My rule is, always have a chapter prepared. Before I could publish this, I had to finish chapter five, which to took me multiple weeks to write and check, and it's most definitely not perfect! This was because 1) I have a life, 2) I'm lazy, 3) I run on a completely different timezone from the rest of my neighborhood, 4) I just started Danganronpa Bliss Ark, so yeah.
