Funeral Plan
Melissa pulled into the drive way of the cemetery, curving into the parking lot of the main building. She wiped her tears away as she pulled open the red wood doors open. There sat a lady who was fiddling with her pen, nothing much for her to do since nobody had needed a funeral. Yet. She thought as she summed up her courage, and cleared her throat. "Hello ma'am." She bellowed, still fighting back tears as she yet still could not believe her daughter was dead.
"Hello madam wh.." She stopped mid sentence as the lady looked up recognition and sympathy flashed through her eyes. "I am sorry about your loss..." The clerk whispered, waving her hand for her to come closer. "What do you need?" She asked raising her voice till the whole room was echoing those same words.
Melissa clenched her purse tightly, ready to open it, until the door slammed open, a loud thud made both women look up. "Eric?" They said in unison, looking at the man who had both arms on either wall, breathing hard.
"I.. Come to pay for Aura's funeral." He breathed.
Melissa looked shocked. "Thank you Eric, but I can pay for it don't worry." Tears finally flowed down her cheeks, turning them as red as an apple. The clerk gave her a tissue which she could use.
"I will help pay for it to madam." The clerk echoed, staring at the wall in front of them. Eric nodded while Melissa shook her head, shocked by there wanting to help. It seemed odd at the least. But she knew there was no way in stopping them, so she nodded, and took the offer. "But under one condition." A stern face masked her own as she began. "You come to the funeral. If you accept to come you may come." Eric looked surprised, though he nodded in agreement and they both payed.
"Then it is settled, the funeral is tomorrow."
