Author's Note + Sneak Peek
Hey, guys! So just as a little confirmation, this is the end of the story. It's been a long journey, but it's finally reached its conclusion. I hope you all enjoyed every bit and thank you so much for all the reads/votes/comments. I loved writing every chapter and I put so much effort into it, and I hope you like the two endings idea I did, this way you can choose which ending you prefer (the idea came from Episode Ignis).
So I have a little bit of bad news and good news. First of all, if you've been keeping up with my previous FFXV stories and my posts on my message board, then you probably know about that fourth big FFXV idea I'm planning.
Well I'm sad to say that it's being delayed right now (gotten a bit stumped on ideas for it). The problem with it is that the OC for it doesn't really change the story events, they basically all play out exactly the same as the game just with her included. For example, "Guardian" had many of the dungeons and game events, but many of them played out differently because of my OC's involvement. But this fourth idea, the OC doesn't really change a thing, so you can probably understand my concern.
Fortunately, I do have portions of it figured out, like the whole first parts of it, but I just can't find a way to go from there. So would you guys like me to just write the segments I've got and fill them in with timeskips?
Here's a small sneak peek of the prologue I have (just know that this is still being worked on, so it might change when it actually comes out):
~~~~~
The year M.E. 730. Lightning crackled across the sky. The rumble of thunder and the patter of rain was all that could be heard outside. The starry night sky was completely blocked out by the dark clouds. The city of Gralea was at the center of the storm. One would think Ramuh himself was responsible for the weather's relentless onslaught. The atmosphere was equally as dreary inside Zegnautus Keep.
Both the emperor and chancellor could be found in the highest reaches of the Keep. The vast bedchamber was filled with an eerie silence. The late empress of a mere three years lied stiffly beneath the blankets of the bed. Her long, white hair was splayed out along the pillows. Though her eyes were closed, the dark marks reminiscent of tear stains were clearly visible on her skin. The two men gazed ruefully down at her figure.
Ardyn let out a somewhat sorrowful sigh. "Such a waste." He gave the emperor a quick glance, a sly grin tugging at the corners of his lips. "I suppose this is what happens when someone worms their way into the rank of royalty."
Iedolas narrowed his eyes. "That is correct. Anyone who stands to prohibit our progress in building up the empire deserves whatever fate befalls them." His cold gaze shifted to the slumbering infant in his arms. "What use is a mere child to me now?"
The baby was only a few days old. Her appearance was much like her mother's, having the same white hair and blue eyes. The only addition was the tiny beauty mark under her right eye. She was beautiful. The infant was oblivious to her mother's mysterious death. Ardyn's eyes landed on the child, causing a smile to spread across his lips.
"Your Radiance," he said. "Before you make any brash decisions concerning the young princess, might I suggest an alternative?"
"I'm listening."
Ardyn's eyes shifted from the baby to the emperor. "This little one could be far more useful than her mother. She's a fresh start, ready to be shaped and molded into whatever you want her to be." The approval was already becoming evident in Iedolas's eyes. "The Oracle, Queen Sylva, has a young son. What if you were to marry your daughter to him? Raise her right, and she could wind up queen of Tenebrae, giving you absolute control over the home of the Oracle's."
Iedolas grinned menacingly. "And with the Oracle under my control, the gods themselves are within reach, and so too is the kingdom of Lucis." He stared down at his daughter, seeing all the possibilities for her. "Well my dear Gwyndolyn, consider yourself fortunate to be born into the Aldercapt bloodline."
He turned, walking straight for the door. "What shall we do with the body, Your Radiance?" the chancellor asked.
The question caused the emperor to pause briefly. "Dispose of her," he ordered. He continued toward the door. "I have no use for a cold corpse."
Iedolas exited the room with his child in his arms. The door shut behind him, leaving the chancellor alone with the body of the empress. Ardyn's crooked smile never faded as he turned to look at the corpse in the bed.
"Very well," he finally replied. "As you wish."
What do you guys think? Want this story to still be made a reality? The OC it will be focused on is Gwyndolyn Aldercapt, the daughter of the emperor. I'd be happy to hear what you guys think of this.
As for good news, the fourth FFXV idea will still be coming, just not sure when or how long it'll even be (it might be drastically shortened). But in the meantime, I have plenty of other story ideas I'll be working on, such as Pokemon (been forever since my first Pokemon story), Creepypasta (simply because I like a little gory violence), and plenty of short stories too that'll include FFXV. Not to mention that I'll definitely be writing about FFVII once the remake comes out, so there will still be Final Fantasy content in the future (if it's from VII though, it will most likely involve Vincent because he's my favorite character in that game, so all you other Vincent fans, rejoice).
It does make me kinda sad though to think that this might've been my last really big FFXV story. Aside from short stories and that possibly shortened fourth idea, I'm just not coming up with any more good XV ideas. Like the game's content, I guess it's finally come to an end. But the boys will continue to live on in our hearts, especially Ignis and Prompto for me.
Anyway, enough of my rambling, thank you all so much for reading! I hope you're looking forward to future stories, even if it's only the Final Fantasy ones!
Walk tall, my friends! I hope you'll be ever at my side!
