CHAPTER 52

The blindfold was still on when Devyn came back to consciousness. The human immediately focused on getting his breathing under control. No matter what situation he was in, he must remain calm. He could not afford to let an episode happen right now. The CEO moved his body slightly to find he was lying down. There were no restraints on either his wrists or ankles. Strange. Wasn't I just kidnapped?

Devyn was able to discern more details about his situation as his mind became more aware. He was barefoot, and his suit jacket and vest had been taken off, leaving him in his buttoned-down white shirt and black slacks. The human's heart rate spiked as he closed his hands around the soft material beneath him. Am I on a bed? Oh no... I have to get out of here.

"So, you're awake now?" A voice sounded in response to Devyn's small movement, making the human freeze and clench the sheets. Devyn turned his head to test if he could peek through the fabric around his eyes but could not make out anything. "Don't tell me you are looking for that bodyguard of yours. Don't worry I have already taken care of him." The voice was saturated with cruel satisfaction as he talked of the demon.

Wil's words struck Devyn's heart; it felt as if someone had punched the human in the gut. A tear threatened to enter Devyn's eye, but he caught himself. He must remain strong. Denzyl was a demon. There was no way Wil's men could kill him. So, instead of giving Wil the satisfaction of thinking his words had affected Devyn, the human showed no reaction.

"Wil, what the fuck is this?" Devyn tried to keep his voice strong as he confronted his captor. "I am here on business not for your pleasure-" Devyn was violently cut off by a sudden weight on his waist and a hand around his neck. The human stifled a yelp of surprise from the unanticipated pressure around his neck.

"You're here for business, are you?" Wil sneered as he wrapped his fingers around the CEO's throat. "Did I say you could come here for business? Who gave you permission to go behind my back and make deals?!!" Wil was yelling by the time he finished the sentence.

Devyn's hands traveled up to Wil's fist around his neck as his attacker's grip tightened. Devyn tried to yank Wil's hand off, but it was to no avail. The drug was still in effect. He was still too weak. Devyn could not even run properly yet. After a few moments of Devyn's gagging, Wil removed his hand from the human's throat, but he continued to straddle his victim to portray dominance and keep the young CEO in a state of compliance.

"You may have thought you were free when that bastard bought the shares, but you are still my fiancé. You still belong to me." Wil's voice was calmer than before, but Devyn knew that tone. Wil was warning him. With one wrong word or wrong move, Wil could become a monster.

The fear instilled in Devyn by Wil over all those years crept back into the human. His instinct was to submit to his captor as he had many a time. He wanted to turn his head and say "yes", so Wil's anger would recede as it had in the past, but Denzyl's words, "I just want you to be free and happy. You own yourself", sounded in Devyn's heart, and the human's courage came back.

"I don't belong to anyone," Devyn said in a low voice as he fought Wil's possession. The man above Devyn paused for a moment before growling, "What did you say?"

"I said..." Devyn's voice became louder and clearer as he confronted his attacker, "I don't belong to anyone."

The CEO was answered with a slap across the face with incredible force. "How dare you?! You are mine! You belong to me!"

"No!" Devyn's hands found Wil's waist as he shouted in resistance. The human held the man as a guidance point as he bent his knee and thrust it between the attacker's legs. Devyn heard Wil grunt and took that as his cue to push the man off of his body. Devyn ripped off the blindfold as he scurried from the bed. The human's head spun as his feet hit the marble flooring. Shaking his head, Devyn clumsily exited the bedroom and hurried out into the living room. Devyn was aware of Wil chasing him from the shouts and curses that followed him, but the human was fixated on his goal: the door.

Hands grabbed Devyn's wrist and yanked the brown-haired backward just as he reached the door. Devyn's fingertips brushed against the door as he felt himself get pulled away. The CEO fell to the ground to see a fuming Wil standing over him. The human's chest rose and fell from the massive exertion of energy it took to injure Wil and run to the door. Devyn fell to his elbows as his vision blurred. The human shook his head to regain his focus as Wil came to stand over his hips.

"Did you honestly think you could escape? Why do you think I didn't restrain you?" Wil said with an evil smirk as he leaned down. The blonde looked Devyn up and down before putting his finger on the CEO's chest and pushing. With just the small amount of pressure from Wil's finger, Devyn fell onto his back. "See? You can't even walk properly. How pathetic," Wil sneered as he took that moment to observe his prey's helpless position.

The captor tilted his head and trailed his eyes over Devyn's panting body, relishing the CEO's frightened expression as his gaze landed on Devyn's whitened face. "I kind of like you in this state," Wil said sadistically as he ran his finger down Devyn's jawline and along his victim's neck. A smirk came to the man's lips he ravished the sight of a helpless Devyn beneath him. "You have to do whatever I want."

"Go to Hell," Devyn snarled. He hated the way Wil was looking at him as if he was an object to be played with. Devyn might not have been able to break free, but he could remain himself: the Devyn whom Denzyl set free, the Devyn whom Denzyl saved.

The CEO's retort was rewarded with another strike on the cheek. "You don't want to behave, huh? What happened to the good little Devyn who would-"

Devyn's heart raced as he knew where Wil's sentence was going, so he cut the blonde off by attempting to kick him again. His failed attempt only made his attacker more furious, but Devyn did not want to hear what Wil was about to say. By that time, the mark on Devyn's back felt as if it was on fire. The pain brought Devyn comfort, however, as he knew that Denzyl was looking for him. Denzyl was doing all he could to get to him, and Devyn knew the demon would never give up.

"You don't want to be good? Well, then I'll just have to re-teach you how to obey," Wil growled as he caught Devyn's leg. After throwing the human's leg aside, Wil wrapped his fingers in Devyn's hair and began to pull the human across the floor. Devyn's left hand went to his head to try to pry Wil's hand off while his right hand helped him move across the floor to keep the tension on his head to a minimum.

The pain ended when Wil threw Devyn onto the couch and climbed on top of him. The attacker turned Devyn over onto his stomach and pinned the human down with his legs before yanking at Devyn's shirt. Wil then brought Devyn to his knees as he ripped the buttons and pulled down the human's shirt, revealing Devyn's shoulder.

Wil's assault suddenly stopped, leaving Devyn in fear and confusion as the room became silent. Devyn's pants filled the space as he wondered what made his attacker stop. Then, it hit him. The human's heart began to pound as he realized the cause for Wil's pause.

Devyn remained frozen as Wil stared at the exposed mark that was glowing a flaming red. Shit.

"I thought I told you to take it off." Wil's voice was low as he growled at the man trapped beneath him.

Devyn swallowed dryly as memories from his last encounter with Wil flashed through his mind. The blonde had seen the mark when he forcefully visited Devyn in the penthouse while Denzyl was in Hades and had gone ballistic knowing it was a mark or tattoo from a lover. Most of the bruises that ailed Devyn's body the days after were received from Wil's rage over seeing the mark.

"You know what happens when you disobey me. I clearly told you to remove it. Why is it still there?!" Wil's voice was now a yell as he cruelly twisted his fingers in Devyn's hair and yanked the human's head up. Pain traveled down Devyn's neck as Wil leaned down. "Whose is it? Hmm?" Devyn remained silent in response to Wil's snarl in his ear. "Tell me!!" The man bellowed as his face turned red with anger.

Devyn kept quiet as Wil threw his head back into the couch and let out a huff. "I guess I'll just have to take it off myself," Wil determined as he reached over to the low glass table that was stationed in front of the sofa and grabbed a glass cup. Devyn jerked beneath his attacker as Wil smashed the cup onto the metal rim of the table, shattering it into pieces. Devyn's eyes widened as Wil picked up the largest, sharpest shard and brought it to the mark on his back.

"No, no, no! Please, don't!"
