CHAPTER 46
The angel instantly fell to one knee as he teleported inside the space station located in Ithyos. A fierce rumble shook the station causing the people around the angel to gasp and shake in fear. Kilo immediately covered the star in his arms with his body and wrapped his wings around his love as a blast of light and energy swept through the station. The building trembled as columns and walls cracked and faltered.
Kilo had successfully rescued Castyr from the generator only for it to explode due to an unforeseen enemy. One of the lieutenants Kilo had once served beside attempted to stop the captain from taking the star from the generator only to cause it to explode, destroying the residence and most of the city below. Kilo had immediately teleported out of the residence with Castyr as the generator exploded. The energy wave from the blast swept through the space station upon the angel's arrival.
As soon as the light passed, Kilo unwrapped his wings and checked on Castyr. The star was still unconscious, much to the angel's relief. The angel held the star close to his body as he stood to his feet and began running. Using the chaos from the station becoming structurally unstable, Kilo ran to the branch of the station which hosted the military crafts. The hangar was empty as the soldiers had gone to assess the situation and help get citizens to safety. The angel hurried to the nearest craft which could travel through deep space and entered a master code on the door's pad.
The angel carried Castyr into the craft as soon as the door opened. After gently setting Castyr into the co-pilot's chair, Kilo situated himself in the pilot chair and closed the hatch. Cracks appeared in the walls of the hangar as the angel activate the power core and sent power to the thrusters.
Beams and support columns collapsed as the craft disembarked and maneuvered through the hangar. Chunks and shards fell in front of the craft; Kilo sharply turned the craft to the right to evade the falling debris causing the craft to head for the wall. As soon as the debris passed, the angel turned the craft back to the left and continued toward the mouth of the hangar.
The structure of the station became extremely unstable as the craft neared the exit. Walls collapsed all around, and a cloud of dust veiled the exit. Gritting his teeth and praying for the best, Kilo increased the power to the thrusters and flew into the cloud of dust.
Kilo released a breath as he broke through the veil of dust and increased power to the engines. The angel piloted the craft until it was a safe distance from the space station before setting it to autopilot and checking on the star.
Castyr's soft breathing and steady pulse assured Kilo the star was still unconscious. Kilo brought his hand to Castyr's forehead and checked the star's temperature, relieved that it was normal. The angel gently ran his hands over the star's body, checking for wounds. The star's wounds he had received from Hades healed while the star was in his neutron state, and there were no new wounds.
Upon observing that Castyr was wearing the same clothes from his time in Hades, Kilo lifted the star into a sitting position and slipped the tattered shirt over Castyr's head. The angel then took off his jacket and put it around the star. After lowering Castyr back into the chair, Kilo returned to the pilot's chair and began working.
After disabling the tracker in the spacecraft, Kilo set a course to Borum. Even though the angel had disabled the tracker and location beacon, it would still be wise to make the long stretch from Borum to Mythos in a different craft. Kilo did not want to take any chances.
Once the craft was steadily on route, the angel rummaged through the compartments in the back of the craft to find the medic box. Kilo sat on the bench lining the craft and set the box beside him. Stifling a grunt, Kilo took off his bloodstained shirt and began to carefully remove the bullets from his shoulder and side sustained by the guards of Ithyos. Once the wounds on the angel's body had been cleaned, bandaged, and set to heal, Kilo spread his wings revealing several scarlet stains on the black feathers.
Gritting his teeth, Kilo removed the bullets and cleaned the wounds before putting away his wings. The angel left his wet and sticky shirt on the bench and returned to the front of the craft.
Upon checking on Castyr again, Kilo found the star's temperature to have risen just a little. Kilo furrowed his brows and searched through the medic kit for something that could help. The angel found a few fever-reducing pills and injections but refrained from giving them to Castyr for fear of harming the star's neutral comatose state. Instead, Kilo kept them on standby in case of an emergency. The angel then returned to piloting the craft but continued to keep a close eye on the star.
After an hour or so, Castyr began to shiver, and purple lines of light ran across his face and body. Kilo immediately put the craft into auto mode upon noticing the star's discomfort. The lines of light were much like the black lines that had crept into the star from the king of Hades during the king and Castyr's fight.
The star began to whimper and turn his head from side to side uncomfortably. Kilo quickly slipped into the chair and brought the star into his arms. Castyr seemed to calm with Kilo's touch, but the purple lines continued to run along his body. Kilo adjusted his position to make Castyr as comfortable as possible. The angel's wounds were nearly healed, so he could adjust without too much pain. Kilo's worry grew when Castyr began to sweat and his shivers intensified.
What is happening? How can I get Castyr's body to stabilize? Ah! Stabilize.
Kilo tightened his hold around Castyr and spread his wings to cover both of them as he thought of the best solution he had. Castyr was unstable as he no longer had the energy from the generator to stabilize him. If I can surround him with my energy, he may be able to stabilize and continue his neutron state. My only worry is that Castyr's energy has changed with the infusion from the king.
Kilo closed his eyes and concentrated as he extracted energy from his body and created a bubble around Castyr. After a few moments, the energy stopped swirling around the star and became a steady glow. Kilo gave a small sigh of relief as he felt the star relax in his arms. Castyr was stabilizing.
The angel leaned back and rested his head against the chair as he felt his body grow weak from the sudden lack of energy. With the system he had created, Kilo could easily reabsorb some of the energy from the bubble when he grew too tired and release it back into the cycle after it had given the angel some strength.
With the cycle of energy containing Castyr and Kilo operating in an efficient routine, the angel prepared his body for the nine days it would take to reach Borum.

"Can I look now?" Devyn asked as he held his hand over his eyes. A smile spread across the human's face as he was carefully led through the crowd by the demon.
"Not yet. Just a little bit longer," Denzyl told Devyn as he avoided a large group of people, so he could keep his love out of potential harm.
Devyn was patient for the rest of the walk as he trusted Denzyl to safely lead him to the surprise destination. The sounds of people chatting and milling about reached the human's ears and piqued his curiosity. The two had traveled to the center of the city where no modes of transportation were allowed in the streets past sunset as the city's center became quite the tourist attraction at night.
After spending a few leisurely hours by the riverside enjoying the picnic, the couple visited the Grand Gardens and strolled along the endless flowers and plants for which the great city of Daedoeshi was famous. The sun had begun to set during the couple's time in the garden, casting a beautiful, golden glow over the flower-lined paths. Denzyl had then led Devyn to the center of the city as the sun set, the two stopping to get some roasted chestnuts along the way.
Denzyl looked around to make sure he was in the perfect spot before turning to the man just behind him. "Okay, open them." Upon the demon's words, Devyn removed his hand from his eyes and looked to see the surprise. A gasp left the green-eyed man as he saw the sight all around him. The two were standing in the center of a world-renowned exhibit that was only active during the night.
Magnificent sculptures of white stone surrounded the two in intricate shapes with curved surfaces. Each of the sculptures stood twenty feet high and was a unique shape. As the highlight of the exhibit, flowing lights, colors, and patterns were projected onto each sculpture. The color and patterns of the projections complemented each other to create a harmonizing atmosphere. The projections were ever-moving as they swirled and flowed along the curvatures of the sculptures.
After every minute, the colors and patterns would flow to a new sculpture to create a new moment of harmonization between projections. The sources of the projections were stationed toward the tip of each sculpture and tilted, so they would shine on the sculpture beside them allowing a person to also be used as a home for the projections. The sources appeared as dark, round holes in the sculptures, but they were nearly unnoticeable as they were so high up and extremely small.
Devyn turned in a full circle as he admired the many sculptures, colors, and patterns. Denzyl watched with a soft smile as the human gazed around in awe. "This is so beautiful," Devyn said beneath his breath as he watched an elegant pattern flow over the sculpture in front of him.
"Mmm, it really is," Denzyl replied in a low voice as he never once took his gaze off the man before him. The two were nearly alone as most of the people were milling about the rest of the exhibition. There were several nooks and paths that led through the many sculptures, but Denzyl had chosen the place that had the least amount of people but still contained a magnificent view.
The human let out a gasp as a colored projection suddenly began to shine on them. Devyn looked around for the source, and knit his brows when he could not find it. The demon came to stand beside Devyn and pointed to the sky. Devyn followed Denzyl's hand and turned his face to the sky to see a drone hovering over them. Whirring sounded from above the two as several drones flew to specific areas over the exhibition and began projecting numerous pieces of art onto the ground, adding to the intricacy of the exhibition.
Denzyl and Devyn turned their gaze back to eye-level as they scouted out the source of the art. Devyn smiled at the demon who seemed to swoon from the human's beauty as the projection flowed over the both of them. Devyn once again surprised the demon by walking up to him, so he was but a breath away. Denzyl held his breath as he looked down into those big, emerald orbs. A sly smile came to the human's face as he saw the demon's cheeks flush. Devyn was having fun seeing the demon so affected by his closeness, so he decided to tease Denzyl just a bit.
The demon remained still as he saw Devyn's eyes flit down to his lips before slowly trailing back up to his eyes. Should he kiss Devyn? Or should he wait for Devyn to kiss him? The love of his life being so close to him and yet so far affected the demon more than he thought it ever could. He wanted Devyn so badly. But he decided to let the human go at his own pace, so he continued to wait patiently, much to his own dismay.
Devyn knew Denzyl would not do anything until he initiated it, so he used that to his advantage and pulled away from the demon just slightly as a tease. The expression on the demon's face nearly caused the human to bust out laughing as he took a step back. Denzyl's eyes fluttered a few times as he looked at the human with big eyes as if to say 'why are you backing away???'. The sly smile on the human's face only grew bigger as he began to turn around and walk away.
Devyn's heart began to race, however, as he felt a hand reach out and stop him. Devyn turned to see a new expression on the demon's face. Denzyl's eyes were slanted as he walked up to the human and said, "Don't you think you've teased me long enough?" The demon's brow was arched as he asked the question seductively.
"You held out pretty well." Devyn's voice was low and teasing as he replied. The human flit his eyes up to the demon's face to see his cheeks were still flushed.
"Don't you think you should reward me, then?" Denzyl responded as he stepped closer, so the two were practically standing in the same spot.
"What kind of reward?" Devyn asked as he lifted a brow as he let his eyes fall to the demon's lips.
Denzyl saw the human's gaze lower to his lips, so he placed his hand on the small of the human's back and pulled Devyn into him. "Something like this?" The demon said as he lowered his lips and lightly grazed them over the human's.
"I think that's something I can do," Devyn replied with a smirk as he reached his hand up and cradled the demon's neck, pulling Denzyl down until the two's lips crashed against each other. A moan escaped Devyn as Denzyl opened the human's mouth and tasted it with his tongue. The two's hearts pounded in their chests as they shared a passionate kiss beneath the beauty of the exhibition of the night.
