CHAPTER 30

Devyn and Miren had gone down to the lobby to wait for the return of Denzyl. The sky was now dark, and the building was vacant as most employees had already left for home. Astrid had left an hour before, so Devyn was not worried that word of the angel and star would reach Wil. The humans were sitting in two of the chairs positioned in the lounge area that had an excellent view of the entrance to the lobby.

Physician Byeong-Ho was on his way to the skyreacher to provide medical assistance should Kilo or Castyr require it. Devyn had immediately called the doctor when Denzyl contacted him saying he had found the angel and star.

"Oh! Oh, that's them!" Miren said as she pointed toward the entrance of the lobby.

Devyn immediately stood to his feet and walked to the entryway to see Denzyl leading an exhausted Kilo into the tower. The brown-haired human's eyes widened as he saw the black-haired angel walking behind the demon. Kilo had grown to be three-four inches taller than Devyn, and the star in his arms was no longer the size of a child but rather a man. Castyr had grown in both size and stature. If Devyn had to guess, Castyr was now around his height.

Devyn's eyes trailed to Kilo's face where he saw exhaustion and years of hardship. What happened to you two those fifty years? It's like you are two different people. The small, innocent Castyr is now a man covered in blood, and the quiet Kilo is now silent.

"Kilo!" Miren called as the two humans Denzyl. Kilo turned to see the redhead rushing toward him and bowed in greeting. "Castyr?! What-what happened? Is he alright?" Miren asked frantically as she saw the unconscious star in the angel's arms.

"Follow me," Devyn said calmly as he saw the healing wounds on the angel before turning and walking to the elevators. Denzyl stuck to Devyn's side as the human led the group to the top floor. "My personal physician is on his way. You will be in room 8002." Devyn remained as calm as possible as he knew the last thing Kilo needed was someone freaking out over the numerous wounds covering his and the star's bodies.

Denzyl opened the door for the angel as the group reached room 8002. Devyn watched as Kilo entered the room and gently set Castyr on the bed before closing the door and giving the two privacy. The demon and two humans then went to the living area in Devyn's penthouse. The three were silent as they left the hallway and spread out in the wide room.

Devyn sunk into the couch and let out a breath before unbuttoning the cuffs of his shirt and rolling his sleeves. The human then poured himself a glass of whiskey and began sipping on the drink as Denzyl peered out the window. Miren received a call and dismissed herself to go and tend to her duties. Devyn laid his head back and closed his eyes as he rested on the couch while the demon observed the city to make sure no one had followed Kilo and him to the skyreacher.

The clacking of heels accompanied the entrance of Miren roughly ten minutes later. The woman entered the living area followed by a pink-haired man with a small face.

"Dr. Byeong-Ho, thank you for coming," Devyn greeted as he stood to his feet and approached the physician.

"Of course. Ms. Miren informed me that the identities of my patients were confidential and that they would be staying in your residence for the time being," Byeong-Ho stated after greeting the CEO with a bow.

"That is correct. Their names are Kilo and Castyr. I am afraid that is all I can tell you. If you would follow me, I will bring you to them," Devyn motioned toward the hall leading to the private rooms of the penthouse. Byeong-Ho inclined his head respectfully before following the CEO down the hallway.

Devyn knocked on the door of room 8002 and waited a few seconds before opening the door. After looking to make sure the angel and star were not indisposed, Devyn motioned for the doctor to enter. Devyn followed the pink-haired physician into the room to see Castyr wrapped in Kilo's arms. A light glow covered the angel and his star but stopped once Kilo opened his eyes and looked to see the physician approaching the bed.

"Hello. I am Dr. Byeong-Ho. Nice to meet you," the doctor stopped roughly eight feet from the bed and bowed in greeting.

Kilo sat up in the bed and nodded in greeting. The angel pulled the blanket up to the star's chin in an instinct to protect his lover.

"Is this Castyr?" Byeong-Ho gestured to the sleeping star beside the angel, who nodded in confirmation. "What seems to be the problem?" The physician inquired as he could only see the patient's face and could not make an accurate assessment.

"He was shot in the head by a stun ray," Kilo answered. The angel's voice was deep and soothing. It was the first time Devyn had heard Kilo speak in fifty years.

The doctor's brows furrowed in concentration as he slowly approached the bed and sat on the edge next to Castyr. Byeong-Ho then reached into his medical bag to pull out three circular devices. He placed two of them behind his ears before setting the third over the star's heart after cautiously lowering the blanket under the angel's watchful gaze. The doctor then closed his eyes and listened to Castyr's heartbeat.

A soft knock sounded on the door, drawing the angel's attention to the room's entrance. Kilo slid off the bed and walked over to the door when he saw Devyn standing at the entrance.

"Why don't you wash up?" Devyn suggested as he handed the angel a pair of folded clothes that had just been brought by Miren.

Kilo looked back to see the doctor tentatively checking on Castyr.

"Don't worry, Byeong-Ho will take good care of him," Devyn reassured the angel. "You need to rest, too, Kilo."

After an assuring look from Devyn, the angel finally nodded in agreement and went to shower as the doctor treated Castyr.

Devyn shut the door to room 8002 behind him as he left Byeong-Ho to treat the unconscious star and made sure Kilo was taking care of himself. Devyn recalled how the angel would forgo his own health to ensure Castyr was well taken care of. The human let out a breath and ran his fingers through his hair as he walked down the hallway and made his way to the living area where he saw Denzyl waiting for him.

"How are they?" The demon inquired as Devyn reached him.

"Better, I hope." Devyn shook his head slightly as he thought about the state Kilo was in when he walked into the building. The angel's wounds seemed to be healing just fine due to his advanced healing capabilities, but Devyn could tell Kilo had been through hell during the fifty years. Kilo carried it in his eyes. "They must've gone through so much," Devyn said under his breath.

A thumb under the human's chin brought Devyn's gaze up to match Denzyl's. "They'll pull through. Look at us. We made it through hell and back. They seem like strong kids. I'm sure they will be alright," Denzyl said softly as he assured the human.

Devyn closed his eyes and nodded. "You're right. Kilo and Castyr are strong. They'll be alright. Who knows what they went through to find each other."

Castyr woke to the comforting pressure of an arm wrapped around his waist. Opening his eyes, the star looked to see an arm stretched out from under his head. Castyr let out a breath and turned to his other side to see Kilo sleeping in front of him. The angel began to automatically adjust his hold to the star's movements only to snap his eyes open when he realized Castyr was awake. A smile formed on the star's lips as he gazed at his angel.

"How do you feel?" Kilo asked as he woke up.

"Good. Where are we?" Castyr replied before inquiring on their location. The last thing he remembered was fighting in an alley.

"In Devyn's tower."

Castyr's eyes widened at the name of the human who saved him years ago. "Devyn? He's okay?"

Kilo nodded, and the star sighed in relief, recalling watching Devyn get dragged away by the dendrum. Castyr shook his head to get rid of the haunting memory before saying, "I'm going to go shower." Castyr planted a kiss on Kilo's forehead and threw back the covers, showing he was feeling much better. But before the star could slide out of the bed, strong arms wrapped around his waist and pulled the star back into the bed. Castyr let out a giggle as Kilo brought the star flush against his chest. "Kilo, I wanna shower. I feel yucky!" Castyr whined cutely as Kilo hugged him.

The angel buried his nose in his star's neck and inhaled deeply in response to Castyr's whining. "You smell so good, though. I want to keep you here in my arms."

Kilo's lips on Castyr's skin sent tingles down the star's spine as the angel started kissing his neck. Castyr's smile widened as he quickly thought of a solution. "I can still be in your arms in the shower," the star said with a smirk.

Kilo did not waste a second in tossing the blankets and scooping the star up in his arms. Castyr threw back his head and laughed as he was gallantly carried to the bathroom in the arms of his angel.

<<<<<<<>>>>>>>

Miren and Devyn stood to their feet as they saw the angel and star enter the common living area. Kilo and Castyr's fingers were interlaced, bringing a small smile to Miren's lips as she observed the couple.

"Castyr!" Miren smiled as she saw the star next to his angel. Miren tromped over to the star only to stop short of him, however, and adopt a shocked expression. "You've gotten so big!" The woman gasped as she realized the sudden height difference between herself and the star.

Castyr smiled and looked down at the red-haired woman before bowing in greeting. Devyn walked over to the three, hands in the pockets of his black slacks and a slight smile on his lips. The star stiffened at the smell of a demon and tightened his hold on Kilo who rubbed the star's lower back and whispered, "It's okay. He's with Devyn."

Relaxing under Kilo's touch, Castyr observed the demon standing behind Devyn. He was extremely tall and had a good build. His eyes were grey and soft, and his crimson hair framed his face quite nicely. The demon stood with his hands in his pockets and watched the two newcomers' movements carefully. I guess he does not look too bad. The star followed the demon's intense gaze to Devyn who was standing in front of him with a small smile.

"Thank you for saving us," the star bowed his head in thanks to the human.

"Thank Denzyl. He is the one who found you," Devyn pointed to the demon standing behind him.

Castyr bowed his head to the demon who tilted his head in response. Turning his attention back to Devyn, Castyr realized the human had not aged a day. "You look the same," the star observed.

A slight chuckle left the human's lips as Devyn nodded. "It's a long story." This created the perfect opportunity for the human to inquire about the angel and star. Devyn motioned for the two to sit before adding, "So, what happened? Why did you fall?"

Kilo and Castyr followed Devyn's invitation and sat before filling the three in on their story. Kilo had been kept prisoner in Hades for fifty years while Castyr joined Heaven's Division of Defense and trained as a combat sniper. Castyr had been deployed to the Transport Tower in Harlim, Earth, when the battle took place. Kilo found the star in the battle, and the two reunited only to be sent back to Heaven when Castyr's identity as a star was leaked.

Devyn, Denzyl, and Miren listened intently as Castyr described the invasion of his home, and his fight with Aklys, the demon general.

"So, this Aklys guy, a demon, or a general, or whatever, wants to capture you?" Miren inquired of the star.

"Yes," Castyr responded. "Aklys was sent by Hades to take me and use me for my abilities."

Devyn's eyes trailed to the angel who had remained silent. Kilo's gaze was fixated on his and the star's interlaced fingers as the angel rubbed circles into the star's hand to calm his love.

"There is more to this than it seems," Miren commented.

Devyn nodded in agreement. But the human did not want to stress the situation any more than necessary, so he kindly offered his home to the angel and star. "You can stay here for as long as you need," Devyn proposed.

"Thank you." Castyr tilted his head in thanks as he accepted the human's offer.

"We need to come up with a plan. The demons need to be stopped. If their scheme succeeds, Heaven will become extremely vulnerable and all Hell will break loose, literally," Miren stated, her voice growing serious. It was clear that the woman's hatred for the demons had not lessened in the fifty years.

Castyr's eyes narrowed in observation as he looked at the female human. Does Miren not know there is a demon standing right behind Devyn? The star asked his angel through their link.

It doesn't look like it. Kilo replied

Huh. Interesting.

Devyn might have decided to hide Denzyl's identity since he knows Miren has had a thing against demons since the transport tower.

Ahhh. That makes sense, but Devyn should know he can't keep it from her forever.

That's for him to decide, though.

True, true. Castyr bopped his head slightly in agreement. The star had always been quite expressive.

"You two look like you're having a conversation in your heads," Miren commented as she studied the star's expression.

"We are," Castyr answered truthfully.

Miren nodded and let out a small chuckle at the star's innocent reply. "Nice."

"So what about you? How have you been these past fifty years?" Castyr asked Devyn, intrigued about the story behind the human's demon buddy.

Devyn looked over at Denzyl who came to sit beside the human on the sofa. After receiving a soft nod from the demon, the human turned back to the angel and star and began, "Uh, well, as you know, I was taken by dendrum."

Castyr nodded and looked down, remembering how Devyn sacrificed himself to save him.

"Well-" Devyn was cut off by a knock on the door. Astrid entered leading a tall, blonde man with piercing blue eyes, none other than Wil Kossen.

Castyr caught Denzyl's eyes flash red as the demon stood to his feet in response to Wil's entrance. Luckily for Denzyl, Miren's attention was on Wil. Castyr leaned more into Kilo, not liking the vibe coming off the blonde man.

"I thought I told you to not let him in," the demon growled, scaring Devyn's secretary out of her wits. Ever since Denzyl had shown Astrid his demon eyes, the blonde female had actively avoided the demon.

"Mr. W-W-W-Wil is here to see you," the girl stuttered, lowering her head under Denzyl's intense gaze.

"Thank you, Astrid. You may leave," Devyn addressed his secretary who bowed before scurrying off. "What do you want, Wil?" Devyn's voice sounded strong, but his eyes showed the slightest glint of fear the moment he saw the blonde man. The young CEO stood and walked over to Denzyl who placed his arm in front of Devyn, protecting the human.

"I see you have guests," the blonde human spoke when he saw the angel and star sitting on one of the couches.

"Yes. Did I need to report that, too?" Devyn inquired with a hint of disgust.

Wil growled under his breath as he scanned Kilo and Castyr. "Who are they?"

"Our guests," Denzyl answered.

"Our guests?" Wil looked at Denzyl with a sharp gaze.

The demon stared down the creepy human as Castyr wrapped his hands around Kilo's arm.

Okay. I have to admit. The demon's not half-bad. He's growing on me. The star said in his link with the angel.

Kilo nodded slightly in response to Castyr's in-mind comment.

"Since when did you become an our with my fiancé?" Wil demanded of the demon.

Fiancé?! Castyr's jaw dropped as he looked back and forth between the two human men. That creep is Devyn's fiancé?

Stay away from him. Kilo warned his star.

Definitely.

"What do you want, Wil?" Devyn repeated his question, his voice growing tired and annoyed.

"I wanted to talk about wedding dates."

"Not gonna happen. I'm only twenty-one. I thought we had agreed to wait until I am twenty-five."

"You're seventy-one." Wil's eyes narrowed as he looked at the young CEO.

Devyn's face remained the same as he retorted, "You would know since you know everything about me." But his heart was pounding. Did I slip up too much?

"You little bi-"

Castyr's eyes widened as Wil raised his arm. How dare he!!

Kilo started to move, but Denzyl caught the human's wrist. "Get out," the demon growled.

"Who do you think you are? You can't order me around," Wil scoffed as he jerked his wrist out of Denzyl's grasp.

"Last time I checked, the CEO of the building you are standing in was Devyn Vaumyr, not Wil Kossen." Denzyl's eyes narrow as he stared down at the blonde man.

"And who do you think put him there?" Wil responded. He clearly seemed confident in his control over the green-eyed human.

"Himself," Denzyl answered confidently, throwing Wil off his guard. "Currently, Devyn Vaumyr owns thirty-seven percent of Vaumyr and Co. He is now the largest share holder of his company," Denzyl stated.

Devyn looked up at Denzyl in shock. "What? What do you mean? Denzyl?" I own thirty-seven percent of Vaumyr and Co.'s stocks?! Since when?!

Denzyl looked down at Devyn fondly before stepping in between him and Wil. "Get out. I won't say it again."

Wil scoffed at the crimson-haired man before turning his attention to the young CEO. "You're up to something, Devyn. I don't know what it is, but, rest assured, I will find it," the blonde said as he pointed his finger at a stunned Devyn before turning on his heel and storming out.

Devyn stepped in front of Denzyl as soon as Wil left. "Excuse us," Devyn addressed his guests before turning back to Denzyl. "We need to talk." Kilo and Castyr watched as Devyn took Denzyl by the hand and led the demon out of the common room.
