The Celebration
Time - 1660
Kongpob's Pov---------
Today was a dreary day and the Rojnapat family, with exception of Maria, was going to be out. I thought it was the perfect time to have Noor and Knott over for tea. Between the busy days and not being able to get out side without Arthit, I have only seen her that one time.
I greeted Dr. Noor and her husband Knott at the door. They smiled at me pleasantly.
"Good afternoon, Noor..... I mean..... Dr Thaklam"
I quickly amended.
"Good afternoon. Please, if you are used to calling us with our names, it is still okay for you do so"
"Then please call me, Kongpob."
I responded. I showed them to the sitting room.
"I know you guys do not eat or drink, but we wanted to make this as realistic as possible. Maria said she could see Arthit arriving toward the end of this meeting"
I explain the set up as Maria brings in a tray. She sits to join us, as I had previous invited her too. I thought she may be interested in the conversation since she knew most of everything that was going on.
"No, need to apologize. It is nice for once to be able to visit with someone who understands"
Dr. Noor gave me a sad smile. Knott and she, looked so alike of their future selves...yet so different. I realized if I was here to save Arthit from being changed, They would never have a family for all eternity.
"Mr. and Mrs. Thaklam, it is a pleasure to meet you finally. My name is Maria, I am the Rojnapat's housekeeper"
Maria introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you, Maria. Please call us Noor and Knott"
I was glad neither of them had any animosity about the other knowing too much.
"Well, Kongpob, it's really nice to finally meet you. Noor talks about you a lot, and I was so eager to see you myself. I have to tell you I am quite interested in knowing more about our future family members. I never thought it would happen. We were prepared to live with just each other for the rest of time."
"Well, how much do you want to know ?? I am afraid if I tell you everything.... Things will not happen the way they should"
"Sounds right to me.... "
Maria said, Noor nodded, grimacing a little.
"I can understand if you don't want to go in details. How about you tell me as much as you are comfortable with ?? Let's start with Arthit..."
Knott suggested.
"Well, he will meet with a serious accident in few months"
"It will happen in late August. I have already seen it."
Maria sighed sadly. This was good and bad news to me. I was glad I was going to have more time with Arthit. Although, it was going to be hard to watch him get hurt.
"Arthit had told me that it was Dr. Noor who found him fatally hurt and took him to you, to change him. But now I think it was me who help Noor, to find Arthit that day..... to save him.... to change him"
I frowned. Part of me was still suspicious on how much lies were there in Arthit's past.
"What is Arthit is like as a person ??"
Knott asked.
"Well, Arthit is really a nice person. He is very fierce and loyal for his family and friends. He is truly a kind hearted person and loves to help others. He is closest to you in the family "
I told him.
"I would love to have a friend in my life.... A friend I can open my heart when it gets real hard to cope on my own, I sometimes try to keep things to myself because I don't want to worry Noor"
Dr. Noor looked at him with love and adoration.
"He always looks up to you whenever he needs some smart advice. He told me he thinks of you and Noor as his second set of parents... Though you guys are not much older than him"
I answered.
"Sounds as if Arthit is going to be the best friends with my husband"
Dr. Noor smiled.
"Now, Tell me how he met you ?? "
Dr. Noor asked.
"He was my bodyguard..... Yes, Arthit runs a security agency with his other family members, which are Bright and Jenny and Prem and Wad"
I explained.
"Security agency ??"
Dr. Noor looked confused.
"Yes. It was you who suggested him to start the agency.... And others followed him. He is the best and most charming bodyguard one can ever find"
I blushed realizing my words.
"Ahh, I see....."
Dr. Noor chuckled amusingly.
"Arthit, I know, has saved so many people with the help of his friends. He never loose a client and dosen't have any unsolved case under his name"
I stated proudly. Both Knott and Dr. Noor looked impressed.
"My goodness, My Little boy has grown up so well"
Maria looked proud.
"He gave all the credit to Knott and Noor, he said they are the one who showed him the right path to walk on in his new life and he is just following their footsteps"
I told her with a shrug.
"Does he ever get hurt while doing his work ??"
Maria asked.
"Not that I am aware of. He is really strong and indestructible after his change"
I answered. I told a few other things about Arthit before moving on.
"Prem and Wad are the next one to join your family after Arthit. I think it's after three years from now"
I said to Knott and Noor.
"How did they meet us ??"
Dr. Noor asked with a brow raised.
"Arthit met them while he was out in a forest for a run. They were living a quite uncivilized life since their change"
"What happened to them ??"
Knott asked. Concern was laced in his voice.
I closed my eyes to remember what Arthit and Bright had told me about them.
"Prem and Wad were childhood friends. They were collecting woods inside the forest when they were attacked by a vampire. That vampire left them deep into the forest, believing them to be already dead. When they woke up after the change was completed they couldn't understand what happened to them but they knew they are not the same person as before and they shouldn't return to their homes. So they decided to stay there. They were living there for almost 50 years or so"
"Poor boys..."
Maria tusked.
"You said three years, but where ??"
Dr. Noor asked.
"I am not sure exactly. Arthit never told me any details. In fact, he originally told me that he met them accidentally and they become friends. Wad is the one who told me the real story. Arthit did not like to share other's stories."
I bit my lip.
"That is because Arthit is a true gentleman. He would never talk of others misfortunes"
Maria defended him proudly.
Dr. Noor was silent a little longer.
"I think I understand your dilemma more now. It will be hard to sit by and let things happen."
Knott rubbed his face with his hand to gain his composer back.
"Who was next ??"
Dr. Noor asked ready to move on.
"Bright and Jenny were next. Jenny was born into a very conservative and toxic family. Her mother died giving birth to her and her father hated her for that reason.... She was constantly abused in her own household by her father and brothers. One night she ran off from her home. She was walking through an alley when she was attacked by a vampire"
I whispered not looking up.
"Oh, my."
Maria whimpered.
"I can see why you did not want to tell me"
Knott's voice was cold. I glanced up at the usual gentle man. I have never seen him have the actual look of a vampire on his face before. His body language was tense.
"I am sorry. This is why I was unsure about sharing some information."
I whispered.
" So... That vampire changed her...was he her mate, Bright ??"
Noor asked.
"No.... He wasn't... He changed her because she was extremely beautiful and he thought she might be his mate, but that doesn't happen. But he asked Jenny to stay with him... She stayed for few years then she went away on her own. She found Bright when she was wandering around a small village, she saw him and felt the connection between them, she asked him to be with her, He agreed and she changed him"
" She changed him...!! What do you mean by that....?? She met him as a human and felt the mating pull ??"
"Yes... That's what Bright told me "
I replied as I took a sip of my tea.
"It's very rare for our kind to find their mate in a Human.... I am really looking forward to meet them"
"Arthit and I.... We too felt the mating pull or connection whatever you want to call it, and I am definitely a human. Though I want to be like him... But he is reluctant to change me"
I answered. Dr. Noor nodded taking the information in.
"I can understand his hesitation to some extent, it's not an easy process to change a human into a Vampire. He must be afraid of loosing you "
Dr. Noor said.
I nodded in response.
"Yeah he said the same thing"
I sighed heavily.
"So will you change Kongpob in the future ??"
Maria asked from Knott.
Before he could answer I did.
"I had asked him and he refuses in the future. He had told me that He dosen't want to go against Arthit"
"I am sure I had a reason. Probably, I could not agree until you came here back in time"
Knott reasoned, looking apologetic.
"I want Arthit to change me...."
I mumbled, Maria patted my hand.
"He will change you for sure. You two are soul mates, I can see that."
"Kongpob, has vampire mates fully been explained to you ??"
Dr. Noor asked.
"Arthit always remained vague when it came to being vampires. Though all of you told me a lot"
I replied. Dr. Noor sighed and thought for a minute.
"A vampire rarely changes their ways. Usually our lives are set in to stone. When a change does occur it is also set in stone. Finding our mate is one of them. Our love for our mates is strong and is for all eternity. Our need to protect our mate comes before anything else"
Dr. Noor explained leaning forward in her seat slightly.
"So he didn't want to change me because of that ??"
I questioned out loud.
"I think that's the reason"
Dr. Noor nodded.
"But even though I am human, is the mating connection still that strong ??"
"I have nothing else to compare it to. I have never met a vampire with human mate. However, from what you describe, I would say yes."
Dr. Noor gave me a smile.
"So then Master Arthit is in pain himself while denying to change Kongpob ??"
Maria looked concerned. Her question shook me up.
"Most likely he will be in worse pain since vampire emotions are typically stronger"
Knott refused to look at any of us. His answer both pained and worried me.
Just then I heard the front door open and close.
"That will be the young master. Excuse me, I should start dinner."
Maria got up hastily. She lifted the tray just as Arthit entered the room. My face broke out into a smile as soon as I saw him. He caught my eyes and grinned back.
"Dr. Noor, Mr. Thaklam pleasure to see you both"
Arthit said politely, he bowed to Noor and extended his hand towards Knott. He stood up and shook Arthit's hand.
"Mr. Rojnapat, I hear congratulations are in order that you are about to graduate"
"Yes, thank you. My father has been looking forward to me joining his firm"
Arthit said, a little tense.
"Will you both be joining us for dinner ??"
"No, thank you. My wife has to get to the hospital soon for her shift, and I have to go for my night school, I am a teacher there. We should get going now. It was a pleasure meeting you, Kongpob. Perhaps we can do this again soon. Mr. Rojnapat, it was nice to see you as well."
Knott and Noor got ready to leave.
"You too, Mr and Mrs Thaklam, I am glad we got a change to talk."
I stood to show them out.
"Mr and Mrs Thaklam, my parents are having a celebration for me at my father's partner's house next Saturday. It would be a pleasure if you could make it."
Arthit invited his soon to be best friends.
"We will have to check my schedule and Noor also, at the hospital. We will get back to you. Thank you for the invitation"
They nodded politely. I was glad to see them together.
After Arthit and I saw Knott and Noor out, he turned to me and pulled my hand to his lips like the day before. He held my eyes as he softly, but firmly placed his lips against the skin on my hand. I knew our intimacy was going to be even more limited than what it had been in the future. Arthit was a old fashioned gentleman, I knew that and did love that about him even if it did drive me nuts at times. I knew kissing at this time was a taboo, unless you were engaged or married. Where I would have pushed it during my time, it felt wrong to do it now. I have grown to love Arthit's mother and I would not want to disappoint her.
"Did you have a nice visit with your cousin ??"
Arthit asked me gently as we walked back to the sitting room.
"I did. It was nice to get to know her and her husband too and talk about family."
I smiled.
"Good. I am glad you enjoyed yourself."
"Did you have a good day ??"
I asked as I sat down. Arthit sat down on the opposite of the couch.
"My day was fine"
Arthit shrugged. He wasn't telling me the complete truth.
"Are telling me the truth ??"
I asked softly. He shifted uncomfortably.
"I went down to the offices today. They already have an office for me and I now know my father expects me to start work there right away"
"And you do not want to ??"
I prompted. Again, Arthit shrugged and gave me a soft smile.
"It is alright. I do not dislike it, but I guess I needed some more time for myself. But now I think, it is a good job to have, to support a family"
Arthit answered looking at me intently with the last bit of information I felt my heart flutter.
"You being happy should be a factor too, though"
I told him. He reached out for my hand and gave it a squeeze. He then started circling his thumb over the back of my hand.
"If my family is happy and healthy, then I would be happy"
He told me sincerely.
"Would you like to practice dancing after dinner ??"
He changed the subject.
"I would like that."
I smiled. We dropped hands as we heard his mother arrived home.

Arthit's POV------
Time- 2022
With my angel laying in the hospital bed, I could hardly wait to get by his side. They were shifting him into a VIP room.
The wait was killing me.
During my wait, more and more memories came back to me. Most of them were good ones. Kongpob and I going for walks and having ice cream. Tossing the coins into the fountain to make wishes, my own wish was that I would be lucky to call Kongpob my own. The excitement in Kongpob's eyes when he won a prize for his pie. The amusement when he met the flock of girls that used to follow me around. I now remember why I cringe every time I am called 'Oon.
There was one sour memory when some boys and girls started to call on Kongpob. I should have suspected it but I handled it like a jealous fool. I took my frustration out on my sweet angel. His face will always be burned into my memory when I snapped at him. I never wanted to see that expression on his face again.
Fortunately, my human self felt the same way. He got desperate to get back into his good graces. My father once again choose to stand in my way to happiness. He told me that kong and I... Are not a suitable match for each other.
I never found my real father support me in anything I wanted. He always wanted me to do what he finds beneficial for me and the family. Knott was more like a father for me since my change. I wonder what I would have done without him in my new life.
Kongpob had been crying and begging me to stay when I went into the room that night in his sleep. Human me was scared, he wasn't sure if he should wake him or not. He foolishly fell asleep in the room that night. Kongpob tripped and fell on me on his way to the bathroom. He didn't seem too shocked to find me there. In fact, he looked slightly pleased. Of course, my sweetheart forgave me right away.
I vaguely wondered from time to time who my angel would prefer, human me or vampire me ??
He easily accepted my offer of courtship. He seemed so carefree and happy with my human self. My human self did not have to be as careful with Kong. He was planning on sneaking a kiss at his celebration.
I was jealous.... I mean, technically, it was still me, but in a way it wasn't.
A Nurse told me that I can go into the room. I got myself ready to face my love. I noticed my family members also headed to the door with me.
I take a deep breath before stepping into the room. Although he was in rough shape when I saved him from the beach house, nothing could prepare me for seeing my Kongpob like this.
He looked lost in a sea of wires and blankets. He looked so tiny and very pale. He had bandages on his head. I picked his chart up and gave it a brief glance. I recognised Dr. Suppasit's handwriting, he was the lead doctor on Kong's case. Good !! Only the best for my mate. I looked over the other information. All that could be done has been done. All there was to do was to wait.
I sat down in the chair next to my Kongpob's bed and I took his hand in mine. I brought it to my lips. His skin felt cooler than normal.
"My Angel. I am sorry that I couldn't save you. I am so sorry that I failed you again. Sometimes it feels like all I do is failing you. I keep messing up and you keep forgiving me. What I did to ever have you love me I will never know.
It was strange to suddenly get images of you in my past. At first, I thought I had officially gone crazy. I can't even explain how weird it feels to be jealous of my own self. I know that it is me. Yet at times, I feel like an outsider looking in. Part of me worries that you would want to stay in that time with me. That you would love him more, because he is like you.... A human"
I paused, then lean over to brushed some hair from his forehead. I grimace as I lightly touched the bandages. He lucked out that this was his only major injury.
"I swear to you, my love, that if you come back to me, I will never leave you alone again. You are my mate and I want to be with you, I don't have the strength to fight it any more. I don't want to fight it. I will change you whenever you want me to"
"I have talked to Knott and Noor and I understand how hard this must be for you. I would never want to be in the position that you are in now. But, I want you to know, I understand what you have to do. I don't blame you for it, nor do I blame Knott and Noor for having to keep it from me"
I spoke.
"Good to know"
A voice came from the door. I turn to see Knott standing there.
"What month is it, in your memories you are getting ??"
He asked
"Beginning of June"
I told him. He nodded. He will probably be out for a few more days. Probably up to a week.
"I have a question for you. There was a time when I came home and found you and Noor having tea with Kongpob. What did you talk about ?? Or is it private ??"
I asked.
"My guess is that is the time we came to ask about our future family. I was very curious. I was excited to find out that I would have a big family. I know it may sound selfish."
"I understand."
I nodded. Knott sat on the opposite side from me and took Kong's other hand.
"You should have seen his face as he talked about you. His face was so proud and glowing as he told me everything."
"I understood hid desire to want to save you. I had to drag the information about others out of him. He didn't want to tell me. And I see why. It made me so uneasy, to knowing what was going to happen to them. although, Kongpob could not offer much details about any of them"
"I never told him the details, I think Bright told him most of the things "
I sighed.
"Yeah Kongpob told me. The most information he had after you was on Bright"
Knott chuckled a bit.
"Well, he isn't too shy about his story, is he ??"
I smirked.
Jenny poked her head inside the door.
"Can I join you ??"
She asked. We both nodded.
"How is He ??"
She asked.
"He is stable.... "
I squeezed his hand and wished he would squeeze back.
"Anything more you want to know ??"
Knott asked.
"I am actually enjoying getting the memories first hand. I will let you know"
I closed my mind to see if there is anything new.
Knott stood up just before the door opened.
May and Aim, walked in and May taking the vacated seat.
"How's Kong ??"
May asked.
"He is in Coma "
Jenny informed her.
"Doctor said he is stable for right now. They will do another head scan tonight to make sure the swelling in his brain is still going down"
"Thank you, for saving him again Arthit"
Aim patted my shoulder.
Knott left the room and Jenny remained at the foot of the bed.
"I wish I could kill that stupid wench.... Hadn't her mother almost killed him before, now the daughter is trying to fulfill the leftover task"
Aim sighed looking down at his best friend.
"It is my fault, I failed to save him. I am sorry"
I said.
"Don't blame yourself Arthit, it's only because of you he is still breathing. if it wasn't you there with him he wouldn't get to the hospital on time... "
"Still, if I never left him alone in the car, this would have never happened"
I admitted.
"You didn't know that Maya was going to pull that stunt. and it's better that you were not there in the car.... otherwise you would have been laying here on the next bed too. Listen Arthit !! You can't protect him from everything all the time. Accidents happen and you can't blame yourself when you aren't there to stop it. The guilt will eat you alive. You wouldn't want Kongpob to blame himself if the situation was reverse would you ??"
May asked.
"Of course not...."
I agreed giving Kongpob's hand a small squeeze.
We all sat there for sometime, Jenny was chatting with Aim and May, asking them about the life of being a new parents. After an hour or so Aim and May left with a promise to visit next morning, they left their son with a housemaid and wanted to get back home, soon.
There was nothing more to do, but to sit back and wait.

Kongpob's Pov---------
Time - 1660
I was getting ready for Arthit's graduation party. We were at Mr. Rojnapat's partner Mr. Weston's second house located just outside the city. Actually, I should say mansion. This house was huge.
I was in a upstairs room getting my dress shirt button up, when there was a knock on the door and I heard the loud voice of Mrs.Rojnapat.
"Arthit, you are supposed to be getting ready, you know this function is for you"
I heard her stern tone.
"Please Mom, I need to see Kongpob for a minute"
I heard Arthit's muffled reply. I started to walk towards the door
"Kongpob is getting ready"
Arthit's mother informed him. I tried to peek between the two part of doors, to see him, but Maria was standing infront of the door.
"Will you please give him this for me ??"
Arthit asked his mother.
"Yes, dear. Now go finish getting ready, then get downstairs to help greet your guests"
Mrs.Rojnapat took something from him.
"Yes, mother"
Mrs.Rojnapat knocked the door of my room. I checked my shirt was all buttoned up and opened the door, l noticed she is completely dressed in a beautiful emerald green dress. She handed me the black velvet box. I hesitated briefly before opening it. Inside is a beautiful silver chain with a pendent. The pendent is in a shape of letters AK , it was studded with tiny diamonds with silver setting and the thin chain is delicate with a twist to give the illusion of it sparkling.
"It is beautiful, but why. This is supposed to be his celebration. Why is he giving gifts to me ??"
I asked letting my finger lightly brush it.
"Does he need a reason ??"
Mrs.Rojnapat asked back and I shrugged knowing that a refusal would be offending, but I felt guilty that I have nothing for him on his special day.
"I just feel guilty that party is for him and he is giving me a gift"
I bit my lip.
"Do not worry, dear. I am sure he is not expecting anything in return."
Mrs.Rojnapat took the chain from the box and placed it in my hand.
"Wear it.... He will be happy if you do. I am heading downstairs. Come down and join us once you are ready"
Mrs.Rojnapat informed me.
Once she was out of the room, Maria came inside and helped me with my suit jacket and the gift of Arthit as well.
"Do You know what the hidden intent is behind the gift ??"
Maria gave me a smirk.
"No."
I looked down at the chain around my neck.
"Besides showering you with attention, he is laying his claim. That way, if anyone comments on the chain or the special pendent and you tell them Arthit gave it to you, they know that he has serious intentions with you and you have accepted him"
I looked at myself in the mirror and pondered that thought. Part of me can't help to think how old fashion that is. But then again, I am in 1660. However, part of me hopes it wards off unwanted attention.
"Thank you for all your help, Maria."
She gave me a smile.
"It was a pleasure, dear. Remember to wear your hat"
I nodded as I left the room.
The music coming down the hall led me in the right direction so I do not get lost in this vast house. I immediately spot Arthit in a black suit. He looked gorgeous, as always. Although, his silky hair was slicked back and looked shiny.
He stood next to his parent's as they greeted guests. Arthit's head shot up as he spotted me and he took the stairs two at a time to me.
"Kongpob"
He called. I see the admiration in his eyes. I nodded at him. He offered his palm and guided me down the rest of the steps. I took my spot beside him as we greet the arriving guests. Arthit introduced me to the guests as they walk in. I only speak in front of a few, mainly the other females and the men that are obviously married or taken. When the Sutton family arrived, most seem to be looking down their noses at me, as though they were trying to prove that I don't belong at Arthit's side. Every single girl glared at me for being at Arthit's side. However, Thomas gave me a quick hug and a big hello before moving on.
Finally, we get the signal from Mr. Rojnapat to move into the ballroom. I let Arthit guide me along behind his parents. He paused and pulled me off to the side.
"Kongpob, would you do something for me, if I asked you to ??"
He asked softly.
"Well, I guess that depends on what you asked"
I tried to tease, but I can see Arthit is really worried about something.
"What is it that you want me to promise ??"
"Stay away from Jason Sutton tonight. Do not even dance with him, and do not speak with him"
Arthit seemed worried. I knew at the dance, even though I came with Arthit, we were suppose to dance with others at some point. Stupid etiquette rules !!
"I can promise that, but can you tell me what has you so worried ??"
Arthit avoided my eyes.
"Kongpob, just trust me, please"
Arthit pleaded.
"I do trust you. You just seem upset and I wanted to know, why"
I answered. He glanced towards the door.
"Now is not the time"
He started to pull me towards the doors to the room, again. We entered the room and I was blown away by the arched, vaulted ceilings with hanging chandeliers. The floor was a soft grey marble and there were giant windows throughout the room. At the opposite end of the room was a staircase that led to the dining room. I had never seen anything like it before in real life, only in movies.
"I take it they did not have anything like this in Bangkok"
Arthit grinned at my awe. I shake my head. Arthit guided us to the stairs.
"One more thing, promise me that you will not attempt stairs on your own tonight"
Arthit requested with a smirk on face. I gave him a scowl, then pinched his arm. Arthit flinched and tried to scowl at me.
"I am sorry, clumsy me"
I batted my eyes at him. His scowl turned into his half-smile as he chuckled.
"No stairs by myself either"
I gave him an angelic smile.
"There you two are. Arthit, go join your father. Kongpob, stay here with me"
Mrs.Rojnapat pulled me next to her and then handed me a champagne glass.
Arthit joined his father and his partner, Mr. Weston, at the top of the stairs. His father also handed Arthit a glass.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, on behalf on my family, my partner and myself, I would like to welcome you to our celebration tonight. Tonight we celebrate my son's accomplishment of finishing his studies. Arthit will start working with me in my firm soon. Please, lift your glasses and toast him with me. To Arthit....."
Everyone lifted their glasses and then drank. I followed suit and tried not too make a face at the bitterness of the champagne, I never liked it. But I noticed Arthit impressively downed his in one gulp.
"So, let us celebrate his achievement with food and dance. My son will lead off the dance"
His father concluded, and Arthit turned towards me, smiling like he won the world... I froze in shock. Arthit's father won't like it ?? I was already aware He and many others were staring at me.
I remembered over the past week Arthit practiced dancing with me at least twice a day. Once, I tripped over his feet and we landed on the floor with him on top of me when he tried to catch me. I didn't complain that we kept practicing, because it meant Arthit was holding me in his arms.
"Kongpob ??" Arthit was at my side with a hand extended. I robotically placed my hand on his as he led us out to the center of the dance floor.
"Kongpob, you look tensed, are you alright ??"
Arthit whispered in my ear.
"Just nervous. Your father is staring"
I whispered back. I was getting anxious that his father will try keep us apart after tonight.
"Ignore him. Just let me take care of everything and we will be fine"
Arthit paused in the middle of the floor. Arthit took my one hand and placed his other on my waist.
"Relax and enjoy"
Arthit's voice was soft and velvety in my ear. I relaxed as much as I could. The music started and we started to move with it. Soon, we were smoothly waltzing, staring into one another eyes. Arthit's smile was gentle and the rest of my nerves left me.
"I have not had a chance to tell you yet that you look so handsome this evening."
Arthit gave me another soft smile. I blushed and looked down.
"Thank you. I also owe you a thank you for the chain and pendent"
I told him. Arthit's eyes lit up with joy.
"So you like it,"
He asked. I shook my head slightly, teasing him. His face fell.
"I happen to love it"
I smiled. He started to grin again.
"By the way, for someone who was so nervous, do you realise we are already on to the second song ??"
Arthit grinned at me wryly. I looked up and noticed other couples gliding around us.
"Well, Mr. Rojnapat, I guess you can commend yourself at being a good teacher"
He smiled briefly and then glanced around the room.
"I wish that I could keep you to myself this evening. I do not like the idea of you dancing with others"
Arthit sighed.
"Well, if it makes you feel any better, I wish I was only dancing with you. Also, I am not that thrilled with the idea of you dancing with others"
I told him. The song ended and Arthit backed up. He kissed my hand.
"I will try to dance with you as often as possible"
He said quietly. He stepped back as his parents approached. I danced with his Mother, then Mr. Weston's wife and daughter. Right after that, Arthit claimed me again.
By then, I am grateful for the break when he led me to the table for dinner.
I am seated next to Arthit and across from his mother. On my right is a gentleman I am not too familiar with. I believe that he is a wealthy landowner, Arthit's father is friends with. I avoided drinking the wine, sticking mostly to the water. I couldn't take the risk of getting drunk and say something out of place.
The break did not seem long enough and Arthit was pulling me back out on to the dance floor. His face was slightly flushed and he was a bit clumsier. It was then I realized that Arthit had not only finished his wine with the dinner, but mine as well. Hmm, I wonder how drunk he is or if he was just tipsy at this point. Arthit's stare seemed more heated and I found myself blushing. At the end of the song, instead of just kissing my hand like the other times he nipped the skin over my knuckles slightly with his teeth, as he gave me a wolfishly smile and a wink. My heart fluttered in my chest. I realized that if he tried anything, I was going to have a hard time resisting.
After that, I danced with Thomas's Millie. I avoid Jason by turning in the opposite direction whenever I saw him. Unfortunately, when I was trying to avoid him I ran into Professor William.
"Mr. Suthiluck, would you care to dance with me ??"
He asked. I nodded since I wasn't sure what else to do. I tried to avoid looking at him, since he was sweating profusely. He also managed to step on my foot twice.
My eyes fell on Arthit. He was standing with his father and a group of men. He had another drink in his hand. Arthit glanced my way when he felt my stare. He started to give me a smile, but he frowned when he sees who I am dancing with.
"What is it about him that attracts all the girls and even boys too. His looks or is it just the money ??"
Professor William spoke.
"I beg your pardon ??"
I turned back to him, glaring at him with narrowed eyes. I wanted to pull myself away from him but his grasp was too tight, I could have pushed him by force but I didn't want any unnecessary attention on me.
"I can be better for you. Older men tend to be better in other ways"
He hinted. I am not sure if I was able to hide the disgust on my face.
"May I cut in ??"
A golden voice spoke up. I breathed a sigh of relief as I took a step back.
Professor William frowned at the newcomer.
"Cousin...."
I rejoiced happily as I saw Knott standing before me in a tux.
"Kongpob, would you like to dance with me ??"
He smiled, holding his hand out.
"I would love to...."
I grabbed his hand eagerly. He pulled me away from a disgruntled looking professor.
"Thank you."
"Maria saw me coming in and said you would need some saving. Where is young Mr. Rojnapat ??"
Knott asked.
"He was over there a moment ago."
I gestured where Arthit was still talking with the same group of men.
"Ahh, he is with some of his father's clients. No wonder I had to make the rescue. Sounds as if they were not letting him get away"
Knott concluded.
"You look really handsome tonight, by the way, cousin"
"Thank you"
I pouted on his teasing and stepped on his foot.
"I am sorry"
I muttered
"That is okay. Probably hurt you more than me"
He chuckled.
"I am glad you could make it tonight."
I told him sincerely.
"Well, I figured I would like to get to know Arthit a little more so I am not such a stranger to him... After his change"
Knott told me.
"In fact, here he comes"
I turned to see Arthit walking towards us just as the song was ending. Knott spun me out to face him.
"Mr. Thaklam, I am glad you could make it"
Arthit greeted him, his eyes are slightly unfocused.
"I am glad to have come, though my wife couldn't make it. She has some emergency at the hospital"
Knott shook his hand.
"Ohhh..."
Arthit replied then looked at me
"Kongpob, I came to see, if you would like to join me on the balcony for some fresh air"
Arthit asked me, his words slurred slightly.
"That would be nice. I could use a rest from the dancing"
I answered, but I felt awkward leaving Knott at the same time. Knott was frowning slightly. However, the fresh air would maybe sober Arthit up some.
"Mr. Thaklam ??"
Arthit asked politely.
"I will join you momentarily. May I bring either of you anything ??"
Knott seemed to be eyeing Arthit closely.
"Some water would be nice, thank you"
I answered.
"I would appreciate some water as well"
Arthit answered. Knott nodded and moved swiftly through the room.
Arthit guided me outside where he promptly placed his hand over my shoulders, a short second later his hands trailing down my arms before he sat next to me on a bench.
"Are you enjoying yourself this evening ??"
Arthit asked. He was slurring his words.
"I have. What about yourself ??"
He gave me a half smile.
"Well, I have enjoyed some dancing. Although, most of my time seemed to be taken up by talking about my future work. However, now I can get the attention of a handsome young man"
Arthit gave me a smile then scooted closer.
"Well, if you have a chance to talk with a handsome young man, what are doing here talking with me ??"
I teased. Arthit moved slightly closer to me again, his eyes burning with emotion. His breath smelled of alcohol.
"I am talking with him, handsome silly man. What did he say to you ??"
Arthit's voice suddenly sounded tenser.
"Who ?? Knott ??"
I was suddenly confused. Arthit shook his head fervently.
"Professor William. He said something that upset you. I saw your face. I wish I could have gone to you. I am glad your cousin's husband was able to break it up"
He fumed softly. I see the anger in his eyes. I thought, Under the influence of alcohol I wouldn't be surprise if Arthit confronted him here.
"I am sorry, I do not remember. It must not have been important"
I waved my hand airily, hoping Knott would be back soon.
Unfortunately, it was another voice I heard.
"Mr. Suthiluck, there you are. I was hoping you would care to dance with me"
Jason Sutton's voice came from behind me. Arthit's eyes shot up as he glared at the new annoyance.
Oh boy !! Where was Knott when you need him ?? I knew that Arthit was near his boiling point.
"He does not want to dance with you,"
Arthit spat angrily.
"Now, be polite, Arthit. I believed I asked him, not you."
Jason sneered.
"No. Thank you, Mr. Sutton."
I told him coldly. I gave him a small glance before turning my attention back to Arthit.
"Just one dance"
Jason insisted, he grabbed me by the arm and hauled me to my feet.
"Let him go. He told you, NO,"
Arthit exploded. He was on his feet.
"Stay out of this, Rojnapat. I am warning you"
Jason pulled my arm. I winched and tried to shove him away... and Arthit snapped as he shoved Jason hard. Jason shoved me away, causing me to land hard on the stone balcony. The guys started to shove each other. I know that Arthit has thrown few punches and got at least one good punch himself before they were yanked away from each other by their fathers.
"What is going on, out here ??"
Mr. Weston was between the two. Knott was suddenly there offering me a hand up. Both boys were just glaring at one another not saying anything.
"Mr. Suthiluck, could you enlighten us, please"
Mr. Weston asked.
"Mr. Sutton asked me to dance. When I declined, he decided he was not happy with my answer and he tried to force me"
I said curtly. Knott held my shoulder
"I believe you owe my cousin an apology ??"
Knott's eyes flared. Since I was close, I noticed that they were a little red on the irises.
"My apologies, Mr. Suthiluck"
Jason sneered.
"Mr. Sutton, I think it is time for you and your family to leave my home"
Mr. Weston looked at the elder Mr. Sutton. He nodded.
"My apologies as well, on my son's behavior."
Mr. Sutton gripped his son's arm as he pulled him away.
"Kongpob, have you been hurt ??"
Knott turned to me. Out of the corner of my eye I see Arthit looked at me worriedly.
"He grabbed my arm tightly, but I am fine"
I answered softly. Knott examined the scratch marks of nails on my wrist and nodded.
"He hurt you ??"
Arthit's eyes flashed dangerously. Arthit lunged to follow the Suttons.
"Calm down, Arthit"
Mr. Rojnapat held on to him. I stepped forward.
"Arthit, I am fine. You already defended me, thank you. Please, do not fight more on my behalf"
I told him. He looked at me, then relaxed enough that his father let him go.
"He is right. It is the end of the night. Would you not rather dance with the young man of yours ??"
Mr. Weston tried to hint gently.
"Would you like to dance with me ??"
Arthit asked as he looked at my hands.
"Yes, I will"
I accepted, Arthit looked up with a hesitant smile. He led me back inside and onto the dance floor for the last dance that evening. We danced without speaking for awhile.
"I am sorry you got hurt"
Arthit whispered into my ear.
"It was not your fault. He was the jerk"
I told him. I felt Arthit's arms tighten and held me closer than previous dances.
"Arthit ??"
He looked down at me.
"Thank you for teaching me to dance and for inviting me tonight. You made the experience pleasurable"
I wanted to reach up and kiss him, but I fought the urge.
"I am glad. I just wish I got to do what I planned earlier"
Arthit mumbled.
"Which was ??"
I prompted. Arthit's face turned pink.
"Another time"
Arthit promised.
His hand slipped from my waist slightly and gave me a pinch on my bottom. I instantly jumped and Arthit laughed as he started to spin us.
