Romeo and Juliet
Kongpob's Pov---------
Time - 1660
"Rosey.... Rosey...oh my Darling Rosey, will you ride with me.... on a bicycle, build for two..."
Arthit was singing in the seat next to me and he was far off-key. I bit the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing. Mrs. Rojnapat seemed to be doing the same. However, Mr. Rojnapat looked unhappy. We were driving back home from the celebration.
“Kongpob, Kongpob, Kongpob...”
Arthit stopped singing and gazed at me.
“Yes, Arthit, Arthit, Arthit”
I looked at him. He smiled innocently, but his face was flushed and his eyes appeared dazed.
“Kongpob, will you ride with me on a bicycle built for two ??”
“Do you even own a bicycle built for two ??”
I asked him, hiding my smile.
Arthit was speaking to me again.
“I will built a bicycle for both of us and we will go far away.... far - far away from here, riding on that”
Arthit said. Mr. Rojnapat narrowed his eyes at him.
“Arthit, behave. Are you happy now, at the condition of your son ??”
Mr. Rojnapat’s voice was stern.
“He is not causing any harm. The boy deserved a night to celebrate.”
Mrs. Rojnapat smirked.
“Kongpob, give me your answer”
Arthit crooned leaning closer to me.
“I will answer, when you are finished with the bicycle ”
I teased and he started to pout.
“No... Come with me Now...”
Arthit stared at me unblinkingly.
“Now !!... Tell me, where am I supposed to sit ??”
I bit back my giggles at Arthit’s silliness.
“On my lap”
Arthit stated. I raised an eyebrow at his boldness in front of his parents. His father gasped. His mother laughed though.
“Mr. Suthiluck, if he gets any closer, just slap him. Arthit, I think it is time you try to go to sleep,”
His father spoke.
“Yes, Father”
Arthit closed his eyes and then leaned over and placed his head on my lap.
His mother turned and looked at me with an apologetic look.
“I raised him better than this. I am so sorry, Kongpob.”
“It is alright Ma'am, No harm done”
I said softly. She turned back around and I ran a hand through Arthit’s hair, it was slick from the oil. A small impish smile formed on his face. I know that he was still awake.
When we arrived back at the house, Arthit shot up like a 'jack-in-the-box' from his seat. He hopped out of the car and stumbled to open the door for me.
“I think it is wise that we all get to bed, the hour is late”
Mrs. Rojnapat advised us as we followed her into the house. Arthit was whistling as he followed me very closely. Mrs. Rojnapat eyed him cautiously then turns to me.
“Kongpob, lock your door tonight”
She headed up the stairs with Mr. Rojnapat scowling behind her.
Arthit smiled at me.
“Shall we see if there is any pie in the kitchen ??”
Arthit grabbed my hand and started to pull me in that direction.
“No, it is time to go to bed.”
I pulled him to the stairs. Arthit came to a stop in front of me.
“You are charming when you are bossy,”
Arthit told me. I tried not to smile.
“To bed, Fred.”
I pointed up the stairs. Arthit frowned and looked annoyed.
“Who is this Fred ??”
He growled.
“No one. It is just a saying. Same like you calling me Rosey...”
I placed a hand on his arm and he calmed down. He turned for the kitchen.
“Arthit,”
I whispered.
“I am just getting a glass of water. Go on up without me”
He walked away. I sighed as I head up the stairs. I was ready to fall into the bed and sleep.
I locked my door as Mrs. Rojnapat asked, although, I think it pointless. Arthit has entered my room before at night and nothing has happened...
Not that I would stop him if he tries.
I get changed fast, since I am too tired. Just before my head hits the pillow there is a noise at my window. I tip-toed over to the window and I see Arthit down below. I step-out on the balcony.
“Arthit, what are you doing here ??”
“Oh my Juliet, my beautiful juliet.... Look your Romeo is here... ”
Arthit shouted below. One hand to his chest the other extended towards me with roses in his hand. His hair is glisten in the moonlight from the oil.
I paused, not knowing how to proceed. I had to be dreaming this night. No way was he actually trying to play Romeo and Juliet right now...!!
“Romeo, Dear Romeo. It is time for you to go to your bedroom. I will see you in the morning ”
I called down. Arthit smiled and then started to climb the piller next to my balcony.
“Arthit, seriously... Stop before you fall”
I begged. In his inebriated state I wasn’t sure of his reflexes. He still reached the top and handed me the red roses.
“Thank you. Now will you please, either get in here... or go down”
I put the flowers on the railing next to me.
“Not until I receive, what I came for”
Arthit pouted adorably.
“What is that ??”
I asked trying to get him to safety quicker. This Arthit can get hurt as easily as any human.
“I want to steal a kiss. Just like Romeo did after the ball”
Arthit leaned forward, his ears pink.
“You could have stolen one, when both of your feet were on the ground earlier”
I grabbed his arm afraid he would fall.
“I wanted to but.... The moment was ruined”
Arthit pulled me closer, staring at my lips.
“Please, My sweet Kongpob. You are so beautiful with your shy smile and eyes so warm. You appear to be an angel. Please, my love”
Arthit whispered as our noses touched. My heart fluttered at the word love.
“One kiss, then get yourself down, so you can steal another one... some other day”
I whispered. Arthit’s lips descended on mine. I expected a quick chaste kiss.... but Arthit pulled me closer with his free hand. His lips were warm and very eager. My pulse raced and my hand flew around his neck.
So soon for my liking... He pulled back. He looked dazed and lets go of the railing and...... He fell before I could grab a hold of him. I shrieked his name running from the room. His parents ran into the hall as I headed for the stairs.
“What's wrong ??”
Mr. Rojnapat bellowed following me.
“Arthit decided to climb the piller to my window and he fell”
I called behind me.
“Why on earth would he do something like that ??”
Mrs. Rojnapat called.
“Apparently, he was trying to be Romeo...”
I sighed as I made it to the back door. Arthit’s father ran past me to get to Arthit first. Arthit was sitting on the ground looking sheepish. He was holding a handkerchief to his nose that was tinged with blood. Mr. Rojnapat knelt down next to him,Me and Mrs. Rojnapat stopped as we watched on.
“Son, are you alright ??”
Mrs. Rojnapat asked, She looked so worried.
“Yes, Mother. Just a bloody nose. It has already stopped bleeding”
Arthit looked embarrassed.
“Well, Romeo, if you finally got your kiss from Juliet I think it is time for you to go to bed. And apologize to your moter and Mr. Suthiluck for frightening them”
Mr. Rojnapat said sternly.
“Yes, Father”
Arthit stood a little wobbly on his feet.
“Mother, Kongpob, I am sorry if I frightened you”
Arthit apologized.
“Are you sure you are alright ?? That is quiet a fall. Perhaps we should call for a doctor”
Mrs. Rojnapat had tears in her eyes. I was prepared to go inside and call Noor.
“I am alright, mother, honestly”
Arthit ran his hand through his hair.
“I will be the judge of that. Come with me to get cleaned up”
She grabbed his hand and dragged him into the house. I watched them from where I stood.
“Are you alright, Mr. Suthiluck ??”
Mr. Rojnapat addressed me. I realized I was still clutching my chest.
“Yes, sir. And I am sorry”
I apologized taking in the debris on the ground.
“There is no need to apologize. My son is the fool. But I request you to not lead him on.... I am searching a wealthy and suitable partner for my son. Who can help him to build up his career for higher status. Please don't stand in between, Me and my desire, to make my son successful”
Mr. Rojnapat said in a cold voice.
“Good night, SIR....”
I replied curtly, and went up the stairs. I could hear Mrs. Rojnapat lecturing Arthit as I passed the bathroom and reentered my room.
I grabbed the roses off the balcony and glanced down at the mess. It looked like Arthit’s fall was broken by a bush. That would explain why it was only minor injuries he sustained.
I was relieved.... But irritated too, because of his father.
It was early afternoon and I was in the kitchen preparing the night’s meal. It was Maria’s day off and she did not come home last night, but stayed with an relative of her's after the ball. The house was quiet since Arthit’s parents were out for meeting someone. Arthit had yet to emerge from his room. I was working on making my own kind of tomato sauce for tonight’s dinner. I was planning on simple rice and meatballs. Everything was going to be made from scratch. More of the recipes I learned were from my mother.
As I thought back to last night, I couldn’t help but be amused how funny a drunk Arthit was. It would definitely give me leverage to tease him about, when I will see him again in future. Bright would have a field day if it ever got out.
I heard a noise on the servant’s stairs and noticed Arthit standing at the bottom of it looking tired. His nose was swollen and red. The rest of his face turned red when I caught his eyes.
“How are you feeling ??”
I asked. I was sure that he had to have a hangover.
“I have been better.”
Arthit looked ashamed to admit it. I nodded and pulled a packet of the medicine, Noor gave me for headaches, from my pocket. I assumed it would help Arthit’s hangover. I mixed it in water for him and placed the glass and a warm roll in front of him.
“What is this ??”
Arthit asked lifting the glass.
“It is medicine that will help your headache and probably your nose as well”
I told him as I went back to making my sauce.
“Thank you”
He placed the glass down and picked up the roll. He leaned against the counter and watched me. I glanced up feeling his eyes still on me.
“Where are my parents ??”
He glanced around as he started to eat the roll.
“They went for meeting someone”
I answered.
“I hope my actions last night did not offend you”
Arthit’s eyes dropped to the table.
“You did nothing to offend me. However, do not scare me like that ever again, Mr. Arthit Perawat Rojnapat”
I scolded him while waving the spoon at him.
“Yes, Sir”
Arthit responded.
“I still do not know your middle name”
“It's, Prachaya...”
I told him turning back to the sauce and I started to stir it.
He moved towards me. He took the spoon from me and placed it down. He kissed each of my hands before placing his hands on my waist.
“Kongpob Prachaya Suthiluck, Now both of my feet are on the ground. So... can I steal another kiss ??”
I was shocked at his boldness... but yet nodded.
He leaned in and kissed me softly and chastely.
When he pulled back, we stared in to each other eyes for a minute. He looked for my reaction and seemed relived to see me smiling at him.
I looked at his poor beat up nose. I leaned forward and gently kissed it.
“Poor nose”
I whispered.
“What are you making ??”
Arthit asked looking slightly flustered.
“Tomato sauce. I am making rice and meatballs, tonight. Have you ever had it before ??”
I asked.
“Once, when we took a trip to New York”
Arthit answered. I spooned a little of the sauce on the spoon.
“Here, you can be my taste tester. How is this ??”
I held the spoon up to his mouth. Arthit opened his mouth and I put the spoon in.
“Very tasty. You are a very good chef, Kongpob”
Arthit licked his lips clean with his tongue.
“Thank you.”
I tasted the sauce myself just to be sure.
I moved on to making the meatballs.
“Would you mind if I keep you company, while you cook ??”
Arthit asked.
“No, I would like the company”
I smiled as he sat on a stool near the counter.
“So, can you tell me now why you wanted me to avoid Mr. Sutton last night ?? Or did he make the fact obvious last night ??”
I subconsciously rubbed the area he grabbed where there were visible scratch marks. Arthit frowned when he spotted them. My sleeves had been pushed up to avoid getting dirty.
“Did he do that to you ??”
Arthit’s voice was cold again. I only nodded.
“Yes, I think he made it obvious why I wanted you to stay away from him. The way he had been looking at you worried me. I could see what he had on his mind”
Arthit looked out the window.
“You can read minds ??”
I asked amusingly, Arthit smirked and looked at me.
“Yes, I can. And I will have you know that all the men and women last night thought you were the most attractive one in the room.”
Arthit gave me a full smile. I rolled my eyes.
“You tell falsehoods, Mr. Rojnapat .”
Arthit gave me a cheeky smile.
“I see. Alright, then, what am I thinking ??”
I tested him. I started placing the balls of meat into a pan to brown them. I glanced over my shoulder at him waiting for my answer.
“You are thinking you want me to take you for a walk tomorrow and buy you an ice cream cone”
Arthit smiled triumphantly. I shook my head and his smile fell.
“I was thinking I would like you to play the piano for me tonight”
I told him.
“Ahh, I see. What if I can arrange both for you ??”
Arthit asked, looking amused.
“You tell me, Mr. Mind reader”
Arthit’s smile fell a bit.
I bit back my chuckle.
“We will see, Mr. Suthiluck. We will see”
Arthit chuckled too.
The sun wasn’t up yet, but I was in the kitchen. Only last night, at supper, did I find out that today was Arthit’s birthday. The little brat, he did not tell me about his birthday.
I did not have any money to shop for a gift with, so I was at a loss what to do. Maria suggested the baking. So, here I was making twenty two cherry pie's for Arthit starting at five o’clock in the morning, since those are his favorite. I was also making some apple and cheese for everyone else.
Maria came downstairs as I was placing the last batch in.
“Smells, wonderful in here”
She breathed in deeply.
“I think I will make some eggs and bacon to go with those. Why don’t you go upstairs and freshen up. I will keep an eye on these for you”
She waved me from the kitchen. I yawned as I went up the servant stairs. I changed my clothes quickly and fixed my hair. After a quick wash of my face I left the room again.
I heard a door close behind me. I turned to see Arthit walking towards me.
“Good morning, Kongpob.”
He announced, his hazel eyes sparkled.
“Good morning and happy birthday....”
I smiled at him.
Arthit’s smile gets sly.
“Does the birthday boy get a birthday kiss ??”
Arthit asked leaning down slightly.
“Certainly”
I tipped my head up and kiss his forehead. Arthit’s smirk drops to an adorable pout. I giggled and headed for the stairs. Arthit grabbed my hand and pulled me back. Before I could say anything, he kissed me hard. This kiss was more like the first, passionate and warm kiss of mine and human Arthit. When he pulls away I felt dizzy and both of us are breathless. Arthit has a silly grin on his face. I am sure I do, too. This was third time he has kissed me since I got here.
“We better get downstairs”
I tell him as I pulled away from his embrace. I heard Arthit whistling behind me. When we arrive downstairs I continued to the kitchen.
Maria already has my birthday surprise on a platter for me. She was just picking up hers.
“Ready ??”
She asked me and I nodded and picked up my tray. I followed her into the dinning room placing my tray down in front of Arthit.
“What is this ??”
Arthit looked up at me.
“Your birthday present”
I lifted the lid and went to place it on the service table. Arthit’s eyes were wide as he ogled his treat.
“You have to share those...”
I heard his father grumble.
“No, those treats Mr. Suthiluck made for the young master. He made others for the rest of you, sir”
Maria finished setting the rest down.
I sat down next to Arthit, who already was eating his second one.
“Thank you, Kongpob”
Arthit smiled at me.
“You are welcome”
I took a bite of an apple one.
“I have something for you as well”
Mr. Rojnapat pulled out an envelope from his jacket. Arthit took it and pulled out some money.
“Buy something for yourself with this”
His father said.
“I will buy a new piano, the one I have right now is too old”
Arthit spoke with a smile.
“Don't waste your time in music young man. I am planning for your marriage very soon, Arthit. Just make up your mind for the new responsibilities... You are not a little boy, anymore.”
Mr. Rojnapat pushed back from the table and got up. The smile on Arthit’s face fell. Mrs. Rojnapat followed him out the room and returned momentarily.
“Arthit,”
She called softly.
“It is alright, mother. I am not sure what I really expected”
Arthit stood up and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He then left the room. She sighed, looking after him for moment.
“I will be out in the yard, Maria”
She said leaving the room. I started to clean up the dishes.
“Leave them, Kongpob. You go see if you can cheer up the birthday boy. His father always tends to let him down”
Maria urged me. I grabbed the forgotten money and walked out of the room, not sure where to look first. I decided to check the piano room. Before I approached the door, I could hear the clinkering of keys. I looked in the room and saw Arthit slumped at the piano. He didn’t look up as I entered.
When I walked over to the piano he did move over and I sat next to him.
“I am sorry”
I whispered. Arthit nodded. I sighed. I hated when he get in these moods.
“What can I do to make you smile ??”
I asked. Arthit did not answer. I leaned forward and kissed his cheek. His face softened a little, but he still didn’t say anything.
“My turn”
I pushed his hands away. He gave me a befuddled look. With one finger I started to play one of my own melody.
Arthit looked at me... amazed
“What ?? Was that the best in the city too ??”
I teased. Arthit’s face finally cracked. He started to chuckle. He kissed my hand before letting it go.
“I didn't know you were that amazing in piano, my love”
Arthit chuckled again. I smiled at him then handed him his money. He sighed and took it.
“So, What are going to buy for yourself ??”
I asked.
“Clothes or some shoes maybe...!!”
Arthit looked at the money.
“Do you need some company ??”
I asked and Arthit looked at me in surprise.
“What !!”
I smirked.
“Would you really come with me ??”
Arthit asked. I pretended to think it over.
“Maybe, but only if you buy me some ice cream”
I bit my lip to see if he would go for my bait. I knew my Arthit from the future could not resist the chance to be with me for any length of time.
“How about I buy you the whole cart of ice cream ”
Arthit smiled.
“Well, then I accept. What time do we need to leave ??”
I got up from my seat.
“Whenever you are ready”
Arthit got up as well.
“You do not have to do this for just making me happy, Kongpob”
Arthit said softly.
“Nonsense. I enjoy spending time with you”
I told him.
“Then you will play for me again... ”
Arthit asked me.
“I promise”
He grabbed my hand to stop me from leaving.
“Since it's my birthday, do I get to steal another kiss ??”
Arthit stepped a little closer.
“Are not you a little greedy today ?? After all those pie's, A birthday kiss, and now my company at the market, you want another kiss ??”
I teased.
“Yes I am greedy today, it's my day afterall. Please, My beautiful Angel ??”
Arthit tried to dazzle me with his hazel eyes. I had to shake my head to clear it.
Damn, I thought that was a vampire thing.
“I do not believe it is called ‘stealing a kiss’, if you ask...”
I informed him playfully, trying to give him the same look he was giving me. Arthit looked at me thoughtfully then grabbed a hold of my waist and pulled me into a kiss. It wasn’t a kiss as chaste as before; his lips were moving forcefully against mine, He pulled me even tighter against him and wrapped his arms around my waist, holding me tight. My own hands slipped up and around his neck, then into his hair. My heart was beating wildly and I felt his, beating against his chest. He stepped back after few minutes, his cheek flushed. Both of us were breathing heavy.
“Arthit ??”
His mother called from the hallway. Arthit’s eyes widen and he looked guilty. He quickly moved back to his piano.
“I am in here, mother !!”
He calls. His voice sounded rough.
“There you are....”
She paused at the door looking at the two of us. Her eyebrows rose slightly.
“I forgot to tell you that your father left you the carriage to get to the market”
She informed him.
“Thank you... Mother, Kongpob is going to join me”
Arthit lightly played the piano. His mother smiled.
“Good, I am sure you will both have a good time”
She smiled.
“I expect you both be back before dinner, so please do not fill yourself on food at the market”
She turned and left the room.
I looked over at Arthit who looks relieved. He caught my eye and smiled his dimpled grin.
“I will meet you downstairs”
I told him as I left the room to change.
We arrive at the market and I let Arthit lead us to the shops. Arthit was smiling all the time, The more I saw of this side of him, the more I fell in love with him. This Arthit was so carefree and happy. I wish I could always see him that way, all the time. I still loved him when he was a little distant and over protective, but seeing him this happy was hard not to enjoy.
“Do you have a favorite color ??”
I asked him as I saw him eyeing the blue shirt.
“I like anything in the shade of blue”
Arthit told me.
“Blue looks really good on you”
I couldn’t help but think of the blue silk shirt my vampire Arthit wore on our first movie date night. He was looking so damn hot that I couldn't even breath properly.
We spent the whole evening outside... Shopping, eating, strolling around the streets and talking about everything and anything.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Mrs. Rojnapat opened the door to greet us. She had a worried look on her face.
“Arthit, I thought you and Kongpob would have been home by now ??”
When her gaze fell to me her eyes popped wide.
“Kongpob, dear, what happened to you ??”
She stepped forward to touch my face. I flinch slightly at the pain.
“I wanted to try horse riding.... And I just fell while riding ”
I told her in a small voice. She turned to face Arthit. He looked ashamed with himself.
“It is not his fault Ma'am... He offered me help, he really do... But I thought I could handle it by myself ”
She looked back and forth at me and Arthit. She sighed and shook her head.
“Mr. Suthiluck, I realise that Youngsters are striving for more adventurous these days, however, I hope in the future that you ask for help if it's needed. I would not want anything to happen to you,”
Mrs. Rojnapat told me and I nodded.
“Come with me, dear. I will apply some remedy for that bruise on your face”
Mrs. Rojnapat led me away.
After she was done fusing over me and I changed my clothes, I went in search of Arthit.
I found him in his music room playing on the piano. I walked over and he slid over without stopping his playing. I waited until he was done with the piece before I spoke to him.
“Arthit, I am sorry for ruining your birthday”
I bit my lip and looked up at him. I watched as a series of emotions flitter on his face. He went from upset then angry and then sad. He pinched the bridge of his nose before turning to me on the bench to take my hands with his.
“Kongpob, you have nothing to apologize for. The fact that this occurred on my birthday does not matter. I will have other birthdays in future”
I tried not to flinch at that information.
“There is only one of you. The fact that something could have happened to you makes me ill to the core. I should be apologizing to you”
Arthit’s eyes filled with emotion as he gazed into my eyes. I lifted my hand and placed it on his cheek.
“Arthit, it was not your fault either. Please, do not blame yourself.”
I said calmly.
“It was my fault, Kongpob. I am the elder here, who is supposed to take care of you and protect you. You got hurt while with me.”
Arthit closed his eyes and leaned his face against my hand. I started to run my other hand through his hair in a way that I knew that would have calmed his vampire self. It worked on him now, too.
“You do take care of me, Arthit. And you do protect me. If I still get hurt, that does not mean you failed. I am accident prone. There is no preventing it at times”
I told him.
“Please, do not let it eat away at you that I did get hurt this time. I am fine. It is not that big of a deal.”
I begged. Arthit’s eyes opened and narrowed.
“Kongpob, you are everything to me. Do you have any idea how much I love you ?? You getting hurt is a big deal to me”
He ranted then turned red when he realized what he said.
“Oh Really.... How much ??”
I asked, hoping to change the subject, but also to hear him say it again.
“That is not how I planned on telling you ??”
Arthit looked away, sheepishly.
“How were you going to tell me ??”
I got really curious. He didn’t answer, his ears turned even redder.
“Would it help if I said that I love you, too ??”
I smiled at him. He looked back at me and his face broke out into a wonderful smile.
“I do, you know.”
“I love you, Kongpob. I just wish I could have said it in a better way”
Arthit sighed.
“So how were you going to tell me ?? Please, tell me that you were not going to climb the piller to my balcony again.”
I teased. Arthit smirked and shook his head. He turned from me and pulls a piece of music off the top of the piano. He set his music up on the stand and practiced a few notes before starting.
“It is still a work in progress. I may make mistakes”
He started to sing as he played.
I am dreaming Dear of you, day by day
Dreaming when the skies are blue, When they’re gray;
When the silv’ry moonlight gleams, Still I wander on in dreams,
In a land of love, it seems, Just with you.
Let me call you “Sweetheart,” I’m in love with you.
Let me hear you whisper that you love me too.
Keep the love-light glowing in your eyes so true.
Let me call you “Sweetheart,” I’m in love with you.
Longing for you all the while, More and more;
Longing for the sunny smile, I adore;
Birds are singing far and near, Roses blooming ev’rywhere
You, alone, my heart can cheer; You, just you.
Let me call you “Sweetheart,” I’m in love with you.
Let me hear you whisper that you love me too.
Keep the love-light glowing in your eyes so true.
Let me call you “Sweetheart,” I’m in love with you!
He ended and turned to me. He leaned in and kissed my bruised cheek.
“I love you, My sweetheart”
Arthit pulled back to look me in the eyes.
“I love you too, My Sun”
I kissed his cheek in return.
“That was really beautiful Arthit, thank you!”
It was then the dinner bell rang. Arthit stood, then held his hand out to me. He doesn’t let go after I am on my feet. Instead he linked his fingers with mine.
“I promise you, sweetheart, I will never let you get hurt again”
Arthit led me from the room.
“I know Arthit, you will always protect me ’
I said, reminded of the burning beach house, gunshot wound.... Hammer on my fingers....and lastly A beautiful angel carrying me to the sunlight, in his strong arms.
He really saved me... Always.
“I was talking with Thomas yesterday. He wanted to know if we would be interested in joining him and Millie on group outings”
Arthit moved his hand to squeeze mine as he led me down the stairs.
“What was your response ??”
I asked hoping that he agreed. It would be fun hanging out with those two.
“Well, I said I would talk with you. But, I was sure you would agree. He mentioned an event this Saturday that will take place in the park. A local theater group is performing Romeo and Juliet”
My immediately smirked up, remembering the ball night. Arthit chuckled and grinned.
“I thought you might like that. So, am I right in assuming that is a yes ??”
“Yes”
I kissed his cheek quickly before we entered the dining room. The rest of the evening went well. There was no more talk of my little accident earlier that day. Instead the focus was on Arthit’s birthday. Maria even made a chocolate cake for dessert.
After we went to our rooms.
“Arthit... I wish you a happy life ahead”
I wished him once more before his birthday ends.
“As long as you are happy and safe, I will be happy, too. I love you, my sweetheart”
He kissed the top of my head before stealing a kiss again.
“I love you too, My sun”
I replied back.
Part of me wished I could freeze time like this. But the other part of me still missed my vampire too.

Arthit's POV------
Time - 1660
I shut the door and left the house alone. Kongpob got hurt while trying to ride a horse. Though he wasn't seriously hurt, just a little bruise on his cheek, when he landed on the street. My birthday marked the second time that he was hurt. It never should have happened after my graduation celebration. The events of that night are still a bit foggy, but I had silently vowed after that night I would never drink so much again. If I was still clear of mind, Kongpob may have not gotten hurt that night. I also might have not fallen three stories into a thorn bush.
I always wanted to see him smile, like he had this past weekend. Kongpob always seemed to know how to bring me out of my foul moods. Whether, it was being slightly silly or just soothing gestures, I found it hard to stay upset about anything around him.
I wished I could show how much I cared for him more. I watched how Thomas was able to hold Millie’s hand in the park and give her a subtle kiss on the cheek. They were allowed to... because they were engaged. I wanted those things with Kongpob.
If I learned anything over the past week, it was that life was too precious to wait. I wanted Kongpob as my wedded husband. I want to take care of him and cherish him for life. That is why I left without anyone knowing. I needed to see Dr. Thaklam. She is his only relative and I felt like I needed to ask her permission for what I want to do.
I walked into the brightly lit lobby and headed up the stairs, following the direction that a nurse gave Kongpob the first time.
I knocked and waited for a response.
“Come in”
I heard from within. I entered and shut the door behind me. I take off my hat and held it in front of me. Mr.Thaklam was also present there. Noot was standing behind her desk and gives me a pleasant smile.
“Mr. Rojnapat , to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit ?? Please, tell me my cousin was not hurt, again”
She looked worried. My mother and Maria had insisted on taking Kongpob to her to make sure he was okay.
“He is fine. I came because I have something I need to ask of you”
I began hesitantly. I am nervous of their reaction. Although my memory is a bit foggy from the night of my celebration, I do remember how mad Mr. Thaklam was when Kongpob was hurt at the celebration. I swear his eyes went black, but maybe that was just the alcohol.
‘Take a seat and ask away then”
Mr.Thaklam smiled, gesturing to the seats beside him, infront of doctor's desk. I walked over and sat.
“As Kongpob’s only living relatives, I want you to know that I love your cousin very much and I hold him in the highest regards. I was hoping that you would consent to giving me permission to marry Kongpob.”
I rushed in one breath due to my nerves. Mr. and Mrs. Thaklam looked a bit amused at my predicament.
“I see. I am afraid I can not do that.”
Dr. Thaklam told me firmly. My heart dropped, She must think I have failed him already.
“Please, reconsider…”
I stopped when she held up a hand.
“Let, me explain first. Mr. Rojnapat , I have no ill will for you to marry my cousin. I just feel I am not the right person to give you that permission. Although, I have known him a short time I know he is very independent. That is why I feel you must ask him yourself. We will give you our blessings, though.”
Dr. Thaklam gave me a friendly smile, same as her husband. I let out a sigh of relief.
“Thank you, Mr and Mrs Thaklam.”
I held out my hand.
“Please, if you are to become family you should call us Knott and Noor.”
Mr. Thaklam offered his hand back.
Is his hand always cold ??
“Then, please call me Arthit”
I shook his hand firmly and bowed to the lady. I stood to leave.
“I need to get back. No one knew that I am here”
I explain.
“Have a good evening. I wish you luck with your quest”
Noor stood as well.
“I will, thank you. You have a good evening as well”
I left the couple in the office as I ventured back outside. The evening is cool. I decided to run back to stretch my legs. It has been awhile since I had been able to do that.
I entered the house and all is quiet. I hurried to the second floor and into the library, where I found who I was looking for. Kong had his back to me and was looking at the bookshelf.
“Hi, sweetheart.”
I whispered in his ear causing him to jump.
“Hi, Arthit Are you trying to scare me ??”
He tried to give a stern look but I see the amusement dancing in his beautiful chocolate eyes.
“I beg your pardon. My intentions were not to scare you, but for this.”
I leaned in and kissed his soft lips briefly. I pulled back before I could get lost in the kiss. His lips were warm and soft. I swear I felt electricity run through me every time we kissed. It was addictive, but I wanted to wait till our marriage.
“Stealing more kisses, Mr. Rojnapat . What am I going to do with you?”
He teased.
“Well, my dear, whatever you want ??”
I told him boldly. His eyebrows shot up.
“Alright, then please get that music melodies book down for me.”
He batted his eyes. I reached up on the shelf and grabbed the book and handed it to him without breaking eye contact.
Kong looked down and started to laugh.
“A Christmas Carol is a good book. But I think it is the wrong time of year for it”
He handed me back the book. I can feel my ears burn with the embarrassment. I exchanged the book for the right one and handed it to him.
“Thank you”
He gave me a breath taking smile.
“You are welcome, sweetheart”
Kong rolled his eyes and goes to sit in a chair. I grabbed a random book myself and sat in a seat opposite to him. I glanced at him every once in awhile. I was not concentrating on the book. I was just here for his company. Kong would steal glances too. Every time our eyes met he would blush and bite his lower lip. The action made me want to marry him sooner than later. I had to make sure the book rested over my lap to remain discrete.
The hour grew late and Kongpob stood at last to retire to his room. I stood as well. I followed him closely on the stairs. If I had my way, I would carry him up every step to his room... Or mine !!
“Good- night, sweetheart”
I whispered at his door as I gave him a kiss.
“Good night, Arthit”
He whispered back before disappearing into his room. I whistled as I walked away from him to my room.
