8 - The Family

"Y-You saw Hyunjin, Jisung and Changbin hyungs?"

Yeseul did not fail to notice the slight stutter in Jeongin's voice as the question remained in the open, and she made a mental note ask who those people were.

"I've seen them around," Chan nodded. "But, they won't cause any trouble, at least, I hope they don't,"

"Are they demons?" Yeseul questioned, the oldest nodding once more.

"You know what?" Chan stood from his seat and moved towards one of the cupboards in the living room, sliding a key from the shelf and opening the door. "We'll start from the beginning, I'm guessing Jeongin here hasn't bothered to tell you about us, huh?"

Glancing at her guardian angel, Yeseul shook his head. "Nope,"

"Only because she won't get it," The Yang boy muttered. "What's she going to understand about the entire situation?"

"I'm not as dumb as you percieve me to be, Jeongin," The Jeon girl replied, her tone sharp.

"Anyway," Chan said loudly over the two who were extremely close to bickering. "It's time you know about, the family,"

...

A small gasp escaped her lips as the three huddled around a book, specifically, a photo album that Chan had taken from the cupboard. It was bound in leather, a large buckle protecting its contents and as the blond flipped each page with cautiousness, Yeseul couldn't help but think how attractive each and every one of the boys in the book were.

"In the beginning," Chan said. "There were eight of us. Four of us were angels, and the other four were demons. We had all been sent down from Heaven and Hell to co-exist with one another as well as protect and guide the humans, well, that was the angels' job,"

As he turned the page, Yeseul leaned forwards to get a better look at one of the pictures.

It was a shot of eight boys, all very good-looking, dressed in what reminded her of a fancy party. Her eyes flitted towards Jeongin, who looked no older than around seventeen in the photo, his features ice cold as he glared at the camera.

Yet, what was particularly interesting was the strange glow that all of them seemed to radiate from their bodies, and the female reckoned it was something to do with their status as angels and demons.

"I remember this," Jeongin grinned. "Wasn't this at that Assemblyman's gala?"

"Oh how you hated dressing up like this," Chan chuckled. "Minho and I had to practically shove your feet into those shoes,"

As the pages continued, there were more pictures, each expression brighter and more positive than the rest, until they reached the last few pages.

There were no more photos.

"Why aren't- "

"Because something happened," Chan's voice had an underlying sad tone. "Something terrible had happened,"

Besides her, Jeongin had frozen, his fists clenched as he gripped the hem of his shirt, almost as though he didn't want to hear the story.

"I-I'll just be in the kitchen," He murmered, standing up from his seat and leaving.

Yeseul watched as the boy left, his blue hair sparkling in the sunlight.

"What happened to make Jeongin so upset like that?" Yeseul asked softly.
