17 - I'm Not As Stupid As You Think

Yeseul winced as Jeongin slammed the front door, an obviously furious expression on his face as he spun round to face the girl.

"What in the dear Lord's name were you thinking?" He demanded.

"Why are you so upset?" Yeseul mumbled, and she couldn't help but take a step back. She had never particularly liked people raising their voices. "I just went to drink and have some fun..."

"It would've been fine if it wasn't so close to that place!" Jeongin pinched the bridge of his nose. "D'you know how dangerous that place is? Did your so-called friends have no other place to pick than the restaurants by the cemetery? And you just went along with it, you're so stupid,"

It was like time had frozen in place, both people regarding the words that had just flown out of his mouth.

Jeongin's fox-like eyes widened as he took in Yeseul's distressed state.

"I'm - I'm not as stupid as you think," She whimpered as she felt a few tears stream her cheeks. "I've never been around that place because I don't like it, and it was the group who insisted that we go there because they serve good food,"

"Yeseul, I'm so- "

"Save it," She whispered. "I'm going to bed,"

...

The soft blankets were thick with tears as the Jeon girl sobbed quietly. Jeongin yelling at her didn't do her any good.

It brought back memories.

Bad memories.

Her mind was filled with the thoughts of when her ex boyfriend, Cha Iseul, would yell at her constantly for not doing anything right. He would hurt her, grabbing her wrist tightly or pulling her hair.

How she had managed to deal with him, Yeseul had no idea.

She knew that Jeongin was not a bad person, that in reality, he was a kind, sweet boy who was quite snarky and sarcastic. But what he had done had hurt her.

"Can I come in?"

Yeseul paused. Did she really want to let him in?

"Yeah," She croaked.

The door slid open, revealing the blue-haired boy in a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie. His expression was that of guilt. Yeseul avoided his eyes.

Gently, he crawled onto the bed, the softest expression upon his face. "Did I hurt you? When I grabbed your wrist?"

Yeseul shook her head.

There was a silence.

"I know what I said was wrong and that I pained you a lot," He mumbled, playing with her fingers, careful as though she was a glass doll that he would break. "I'm sorry,"

"I-It's okay," Yeseul whispered, her tone devestatingly vulnerable. "I forgive you, besides, I shouldn't have gone to a place where I knew I'd be uncomfortable,"

"You just wanted to have your fun," Jeongin reminded. "There's nothing wrong with that. I panicked because Changbin hyung called to say that you were near the cemetery,"

"What's wrong with that place?"

Jeongin froze at the question. He didn't really know how to answer it considering that his own knowledge of the place was so limited. Only the older hyungs knew the entirety of the history of that cemetery.

"It's just not a good place for both humans and angels," He said, softly. "Now let's sleep,"

The lights went out at the angel's command, and Yeseul found herself burying her head amongst his chest, unaware that the Yang boy was blushing like crazy at the contact.

Both would be sleeping well tonight.
