| Chapter 11 | ❤️

Everything went back to normal; Me guarding Dimitri and Lady Natasha trying to cope from the disappointment. At one point, I even pitied her. I also noticed how the rest of Dimitri's family waited for him to pop the million-dollar question. His mother, Olena, had called him into the kitchen the other day and demanded an explanation in his change of plans. He simply said, "Life is full of choices." The poor woman looked a bit puzzled by his answer. Nevertheless she accepted his answer with a slight nod and continued whatever she was doing in the kitchen.

I, on the other hand, couldn't stop thinking about his words as well. Not the ones he spoke to his mother, but the ones he spoke to me. And every single time he looked at me, I had a feeling that he was waiting for something. The terrible part was I didn't have M&Ms to munch on. I walked in the garden when Dimitri's teenage little sister ran in. She closed the back door and looked around suspiciously. I narrowed my eyes at her.

What is she doing?

She placed her hands on the ivory-covered wall and lifted herself up. She grunted as she climbed up. I knew she was doing something wrong. I wanted to tell her to stop but I was not her Guardian Angel. She reached the top and a boy appeared on the other side. They smiled at each other and he pulled her into a kiss.

She climbed the wall just so they could kiss?

I couldn't wrap my senses around that type of logic.

"I don't care what my sister says about you. She doesn't know you like I do," Victoria said, her brown eyes shining with love. I could literally see hearts in her eyes.

Which sister, though? Karolina or Sonja?

"I love you more than anything. Run with me. We can be together forever," the boy said. Ooh, this boy was a bad boy. Who did he think he was? Asking a girl to run away with him. A teenage girl, too!

I wanted to smash his face into the brick wall. Viktoria looked behind her, toward the house. She cast her eyes down, looking almost ashamed of herself. The lips curved down into an unpleasant frown.

"I can't. Not now. There has to be a better way, Rolan. Sonja's wrong. She just doesn't know you," she said, almost as if she was talking to herself. "Please give me some time. I'll text you."

A look flashed in 'Rolan's' eyes that I couldn't quite decipher. He gave her a smile that didn't reach his eyes. He leaned in and kissed her one more time. They slowly climbed back down and I never saw Viktoria in the same light again. But there was one thing that she was much like Dimitri: doing it right the first time. I battled with myself whether I should tell him about this or not. It was not really my business. But she was his little sister. . .

I watched as Viktoria opened the back door again and took a deep breath. She plastered a bright smile and went inside as if nothing naughty happened. Pregnant Sonja came down the stairs, her hands on her big belly. Viktoria threw a glare at her, which Sonja was too preoccupied to notice her little sister's burning gaze.

"Mama, I want to invite someone to our family dinner tonight," Viktoria spoke up, smiling sweetly at Olena.

Sonja looked up and asked, "Who?"

"Someone special," she answered with smile that I wouldn't exactly deem innocent.

What is she up to?

Sonja suddenly looked worried. Her hands shot out to Viktoria to hold her in place.

"You're still seeing him, aren't you?" she demanded, tears swelling in her eyes.

Jutting her chin out, she answered, "There's nothing you can do about that. Just because your boyfriend used you and left you pregnant doesn't mean Rolan is going to do the same to me. Get over it, Sonja! Just because you were stupid in your relationship doesn't mean that I'm stupid like you!"

Smack!

"Sonja!" Olena came between the two, looking upset as ever. Randall and Dimitri both appeared in the room at the same time. This time the heat was not between the father and the son. Sonja stood there seething with anger and I felt so much sadness in her. Tears were streaming down her face as she glared at Viktoria whose glare rivaled hers. The red handprint on Viktoria's right cheek was prominent as ever.

"Will you please stop all of this disagreement?!" Olena asked, running her fingers through her hair. A tired sigh escaped her lips as she stared disapprovingly at her family. "Why can't we just be happy and let things go?" Pure disappointment swirled in her warm brown eyes.

Randall came to Olena's side and held her in a protective and comforting manner. He whispered something into her ear. She took a deep breath and nodded. "Alright. Whatever it is, it stops here. Right now. Viktoria has a special guest she wants to invite to dinner tonight. Sonja, please let your sister be. I know you're just worrying out for her. And Viktoria, don't you ever insult your sister like that again. I just want a nice family dinner."

Almost unwillingly, everybody nodded. Karolina walked in, sensing the uninviting atmosphere. Lady Natasha was right behind her. They both looked at each other and walked back out. I looked at Dimitri and his eyes flickered to me. I felt that tug at my heart. I looked away just as Sonja went to Olena.

"Mama, please don't let Viktoria do this. . ." she begged gently.

"Sonja, child. . .I know you love your sister-"

"It's not just that, mama."

"Sonja, you must respect her decisions," Olena replied, caressing her daughter's cheek gently. "I hate seeing you cry. It's not good for the baby."

"I know, mama. I know."

Dimitri stood by the door frame, his eyes never leaving Sonja for a moment. He walked over to her and asked, "Can we talk?"

Because of his tall frame, she looked up with a confused look on her face. "Of course," she answered.

They went back out to the garden—my, isn't it a popular place today?— and Dimitri let Sonja set down on the garden bench they had. He looked at her and asked, "Who's the father, Sonja?"

She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. She looked down at her shaking hands and let out a strained laugh. "I'm such a fool, Dimitri. I believed every single word that came out of his mouth. I fell for him completely," she spoke with so much pain.

"Who's the father?" he repeated.

She averted her gaze to him and said, "Rolan Kislyak."

It did not take much for Dimitri figure out who Viktoria was in love with. And who got Sonja pregnant and heartbroken. And I also knew that dinner was not going to be a nice dinner. Sweet Olena was going to be disappointed.

"You're not going to murder him, are you?" I asked, stepping into Dimitri's bedroom. He lifted his gaze from the book he was reading and raised his eyebrow at me.

"And what makes you think I am capable of murdering someone?" he asked, turning a page.

I crossed my arms and said, "Don't  act innocent!"

"Not even trying."

"So. . .are you going to?"

"Why do I have a feeling that you want me to?"

. . .

"Silence from you. Interesting. I wonder how long that's going to last."

I glared at him. Then the book in his hands lit up into bright flames.

"Rose!" he cried out, throwing the book onto the grown. The fire went out and I smirked at him.

"Yes?" I asked, "You were saying?"

He glared at me and picked up his book again. I wanted to strangle him. I sat down on his bed and let out a sigh.

"I'll try not to ruin dinner for my mother's sake tonight."

"Good boy," I remarked, "I'm sure she'll appreciate that."

I knew that tonight's dinner was really bothering him, especially the special guest of Viktoria who happened to be the father of Sonja's unborn child. But I was more worried about Sonja and her feelings.

"What are you thinking about?" Dimitri asked, snapping me back to reality.

I looked at him and asked, "Do you think your sister Sonja is going to be okay?"

He shrugged and put his book down. "I don't know," he answered, "But there is no way I'm going to let this man hurt my sisters."

I wonder how dinner's gonna turn out. Stay tuned for the next update! Thank you for reading and don't forget to share your thoughts.

Lots of love,

Iris
