I sigh as I sat at the table in the meeting room, looking at Vision who has been in shutdown in his chamber these past 5 years. The Avengers haven't been able to wake Vision up even though I fixed him like he was just a dormant robot.
I was waiting for Scott to come by with his time travel theory while Thor and Loki helped find gloves for me to cover up my arms. I stare at my arms, one of them shattered and just floating in particles while the other looked like a monstrous claw.
"I found something!" I look over to see Loki pull out some long stretchy satin gloves that were a dusty kind of black and bluish colour.
"What am I, Elsa now?" I sigh as Loki helps me put the gloves on. My claws managed to rip holes in the right glove to have it fit my fingers but it didn't rip too far, the claws just poking out. "How do I check if I can touch people?" I ask, wriggling my fingers and tapping the desk with my claws.
"Here." Loki gives me his arm and I frown. He was still healing, using his powers to reverse the decay but that didn't mean I wanted to use him as a guinea pig.
"No. I already hurt you enough-Loki!" He quickly grabs my hand and places it on his cheek, my instincts screaming at me to rip my arm away but he holds on tight.
"See, nothing happened." He beams at me and I sigh in relief, leaning my forehead on his as I caress his cheek. "You won't ever hurt me (y/n). Not intentionally, I know."
"Still, you can't just pull stunts like that!" He chuckles softly, pulling me onto his lap to hold me tight.
"I missed you."
"I know... I could hear you very faintly when you talked to me."
"I just wish it didn't take us this long to have you in my arms again."
"Still cheesy as ever." I smile faintly into Loki's shoulder, my hand unconscious going to my stomach and all I could feel was emptiness. "I'm sorry..."
"For what?"
"Losing our baby..."
"That was never your fault. We both didn't know..."
"Hello?" I look up and see Scott walk in, all frantic.
"You can skip the part about the quantum realm. I already caught everyone up about the idea of it acting as a time machine." Scott blinks at me as the others snicker since I took his opportunity to rant.
"Well, if we're up to speed then. You strangely haven't aged like everyone else here." Scott says and I look at him in confusion.
"You know I'm (y/n) right?" I point to my face and he nods.
"Yeah I know it's you."
"And you're not deterred about... all this?" I wave my hand to point at my new features and Scott just shrugs.
"Nah, I'm just glad to see some familiar faces."
"Well damn his perception." Loki just smiles into my shoulder.
"So, who do we talk to about this?"
"Are you ok?" Loki asks as he holds my hand, us standing by our cars next to Tony's cabin. I was full-blown anxious and worried about Tony's reaction to seeing me... looking so inhuman.
"What if he doesn't recognise me? What if he moved on completely and just calls me an imposter thinking I'm dead or something. What if Morgan hates me! She would be terrified at looking at me! I mean come on! Have you seen me!? I can't use half of my abilities anymore including changing my appearance or flying!" Loki holds my cheeks to make me look at him.
"You are still as beautiful as the day I lost you."
"I can't believe you quoted How to train your dragon..." I mumble out but Loki knew I liked it.
"And I believe it to be true anyway. You are my love and my wife. I married you because I love you and not because I am a shallow man who only judge by appearance." I felt so touched by Loki's words and they eased most of my worries away. "Well... I do agree that your appearance and your body is a plus." I gasp, smacking Loki's chest as he smirks at me.
"I literally just came back alive like a day ago and you're horny as fuck-"
"-(y/n)?" I freeze completely, terrified of turning around. I look up at Loki as he nods his head to the direction Tony was standing.
I don't want to.
You have to.
No, you can't make me!
Loki grabs my shoulders and suddenly turns me around to face Tony.
Yes I can.
I curse Loki back as Tony walks up to me slowly, sadness and hope in his eyes like trauma reemerging to haunt him. "Is that really you?" He narrows his eyes at me and I gulp, thinking maybe he didn't like me as I am now. I look back at the others as they got out of the car.
"I..." I didn't know what to say cause at the same time, I was me but not... completely me. "I'm sorry Tony..." I burst into tears, suddenly mad at myself for hurting him. Tony quickly pulls me into a tight hug as I cried on his shoulder.
"I thought I lost you..." He squeezes me tight as if he couldn't believe I was actually in front of him and I hesitantly wrap my hands around him. "I thought I lost you both." I knew he talked about Peter and he leans back, holding my face to see if it was actually me. I noticed the tears in his eyes, him frowning at the new changes in my appearance. "When-how?"
"Just a day ago. Loki brought me back." I smile at my husband and he grins at me. "Well, most of me anyway." Tony takes a step back and I take the gloves off as his frown deepens. "Do you hate me?"
"Why would I ever hate you?"
"I'm not human anymore, I'm not the old me anymore and I-"
"-you're still my kid whether you like it or not." I chuckle softly as I put the gloves back on. "Do you want to meet Morgan?" I look at Tony with wide eyes.
"Are you sure? I might scare her like this."
"She's a dreamer, I think you will be interesting to her seeing as you are her adopted sister."
"I don't know-"
"-see Pepper at least."
"Alright." I give up and Tony drags me inside, leading me to the kitchen as everyone else sat in the living room.
"Tony, what's taking so long with Morgan-" as soon as Pepper turns around, she gasps and the plate that was in her hand starts freefalling. I quickly move my right glove down and a dark tentacle shoots out to catch the plate before it shatters, setting it down gently on the countertop.
"I don't think this was a good idea-" I stumble back as Pepper dives for me, hugging me tightly.
"(y/n)..." I look at Tony in surprise and he just smiles at me softly as I move my arms to hug Pepper, her squeezing me in response.
"Hey Pepper. I'm surprised you still recognise me."
"Of course I would! Why wouldn't I!?" She gasps put, wiping her tears away. "Oh, you have to meet Morgan! She will be so excited to see her adoptive sister!"
"That's what I said!" Tony says and I roll my eyes with a smile. They both lead me back outside where Morgan was playing and I tentatively stand behind the parents as they coaxed her out of her little tent. "Maguna? We have someone special we would like you to meet." the kid pops her head out and furrows her brows straight at me.
"Morgan," Pepper kneels in front of her daughter. "This is (y/n), your sister that we talked about before."
"You mentioned me!?" I whisper yell at Tony and he shrugs at me and I look back at Morgan, waving shyly and trying not to scare her.
"Sissy!" She squeals and runs up to me, hugging my legs. I look at Pepper and Tony in surprise.
"Told you." Tony muses and I smile down at the little girl that looked up at me in excitement.
"It's nice to meet you Morgan. I have heard so much about you." I kneel in front of her as Tony and Pepper go off to talk to the others.
"You're like a fairy!" she squeals, her little fingers prodding at my hair that simply moved around like black fog like flames above my head and the streaks around my eyes.
"Well, you're going to like this." I roll my shoulder back, sprouting my wings from my back. I hiss lightly from the slight shock of pain as they ripped out from me, expanding out much longer and bigger than they were before. The wings were fully black and I fluttered them for Morgans entertainment. She gasps as she runs around to touch them.
"You are like a fairy! Can you fly?"
"Well, I woke up from a deep sleep just a day ago and I haven't had the chance to practice using them." It was true, I couldn't fly anymore like before but maybe that's why I had wings. Like a backup of sorts.
"Are you sleeping beauty too!?"
"Well sleeping beauty slept for hundreds of years, I only slept for 5 years." Morgan nods, completely interested in me.
I play charades with her for a bit until I take her back to Tony as he starts getting into a heated argument with the others, Loki just chilling on the sideline and not wanting to intrude. I knew he was watching me the entire time as I played with Morgan, a bittersweet feeling emanating from him as I pass her to her dad.
"I got my second chance right here, Cap. I can't roll the dice again." Natasha, Steve, Scott and Thor just sigh in defeat, walking back to the car but I stop in front of Tony as I hold my stomach.
"Tony, I know you know that everyone lost a loved one but please help us. It does work."
"(y/n), even if you say that it works, and I'm sure it does cause you know it does... I just don't want to risk it."
"Tony..." Loki pulls me into his arms and he realises why I was pushing him. "I lost my unborn child, I... I just want to get them back..." guilt washes over Tony's features and I know it was bad to guilt-trip him but I really did want to get my child back. I shake my head and say goodbye to Tony as Loki takes me back to the car to see Bruce.
