I was humming softly in the kitchen as I made some tea for me and Loki. The others greeted me as they sat around the kitchen table to eat their breakfast before going to do whatever they needed to do at the compound. Yeah, I was at the compound. Tony had kicked Loki out of his house in hopes of keeping him separated from me but that didn't stop me from visiting him.
I mean, I do have my own bedroom here so...
"Morning my little solnyshko." Pietro kisses the top of my head before swiping some cookies from my plate.
"Oi!" I narrow my eyes at him as he just laughs, the others chuckling. I smiled, shaking my head as I took a sip of my tea, waiting for Loki to come out from his bedroom. I feel a slight tingle on my arm and I look down to see the gems on the finger harness glow a faint green signalling that he was close. "Morning Loki." I pass him his cup as he walks into view, surprising him with a kiss on his cheek. He freezes but not from the pleasant surprise.
I look over at where he was looking and I notice the avengers all stiff up as they tried not to make it obvious that they were keeping an eye on the God of Mischief. I frown at their behaviour as they whispered to each other and I look over at Loki. His face was blank, looking like he didn't care but I could tell he was far from it when he grabbed my plate of cookies and walked back to his room. The loud chatter finally erupts from the kitchen table and I glare at the avengers.
I get it they are wary but they didn't have to do that.
Act like high school teens shunning the unpopular kids.
He wasn't the same person he was years ago, he's not plotting to take over the world. Granted he likes to play tricks but that's just in his blood. "He's not bad..." I mumble out sadly. "Someone was controlling him just like someone controlled me in Vienna. So if you could forgive me, why can't you forgive him?" I walk away, ignoring the calls for me as I head to Loki's room. I knocked on the door before opening it to see him reading on his couch, the tea and cookies on the coffee table in front of him. "What are you reading?" I sit down next to him on the couch as he pulls me close.
"Shakespeare."
"I just got war flashbacks from high school." I shudder and Loki rolls his eyes. "I never understood anything, had to use a translated version."
"Well, what if I read it out for you?" Loki hums in question and I nod, laying my head on his shoulder as I drank my tea and cuddled to his side. It was a calming experience as his soothing voiced lulled over me, his thumb mindlessly running circles on my skin as he read.
Hours easily went by as Loki read me Shakespeare, not realising the whole day had gone by when we both hear knocking on the door. "Who is it!?" I call out, yawning out from being so comfortable and warm.
"Dinner's ready." Natasha pops her head in, looking at us both but specifically Loki. It was like she was checking that the supposed big bad New York Loki might be doing something to hurt me.
"I'm not bothered moving. Can you bring them here instead?" Natasha opens her mouth to say something but just nods and leaves.
"You should eat with your friends." Loki says as he simply flicks through the pages.
"Nah, I want to have dinner with you."
"I'm fine. I'm not even hungry. You just go and join them. You can come back later." Loki was becoming adamant about me going but I wasn't moving. I lay my hand on Lokis arm, slowly making him put his book down as he sighs sadly.
"Loki..."
"They won't forgive me. Why would they? I brought death and chaos to their beloved New York City."
"That wasn't you and you know it-"
"-what if it was!? What if some part of me deep down wanted to do more than just take over a world?" I purse my lips as Loki grew mad but not at me, at himself. "Maybe Thanos brought the true me to life-"
"-that is not you." I snap back and Loki glares at me, getting up to start pacing.
"How would you know!? You barely know me!"
"And yet you trust me. You let me in." the God of Mischief freezes and looks down. "I know that you build walls so high around you that you don't even let your brother in because you're scared of being hurt and being left forgotten. I know that you feel as if you are only here to make everyone else look like a hero."
"Are you trying to make me upset?" Loki narrows his eyes at me and I stand up, walking towards him. He stumbles back slightly and I hold his hands. "What are you doing-"
"-you are not the villain everyone paints you to be." Loki looks at me with wide eyes as I step closer to him and I see his lips quiver slightly. "You are Frigga's son, her child that she loves forever. You are Thor's brother, his sibling that he has always looked up to and always cared about."
"(y/n)-"
"-you are Loki, the man I care about the moment I've laid eyes on you in both screen and in person." Loki sucks in a breath as I lay his hand on my chest. He could feel my heartbeat as I looked up at him. "You are not a villain. You never were." Loki looks at me with wide eyes as he didn't feel my heart skip a beat and he knew I believed that statement. "You have been hurt over and over and not once have you been able to actually feel properly, to let emotions out." Loki closes his eyes, trying not to break down.
"How can you put so much faith in me? Why do you not hate me like the others?" Loki whispers and I shake my head.
"Because you have been hurt just as much as they have and they have been hurt just as much as you have." Loki leans his head on my shoulder to hide his tears. "You don't need to hide it anymore." Loki pulls me close to hug me, his shoulders shaking. "You're not alone. Not anymore." I squeeze the sad God of Mischief back, the harness gems glowing a bright red.
"Brother?" I look over Loki's shoulder to see Thor standing by the doorway that was now open. "The avengers are asking whether you would be joining us for dinner."
"I-"
"-yes he will." I cut Loki off and he quickly looks down at me as I grab hold of his hand.
"Terrific! I will let them know." Thor walks off and I start dragging Loki with me to the kitchen.
"(y/n), wait! No-" He freezes again as he stands out in the open, the avengers all now looking at him.
"What are you waiting for? An invitation?" Tony calls out and I grin at Loki as he gives me a soft smile before I lead him to sit down with me next to him. Everyone bursts into quick chatter, talking about their day as I ate and listened.
"Loki, how was your day?" Wanda suddenly asks and I give her a smile of thanks, her winking in understanding.
"Oh, I uh, we read Shakespeare. (y/n) and I." Loki clears his throat, slightly embarrassed but I squeeze his hand under the table.
"So you two are together!" Pietro calls out as he looks under the table and I kick his chair.
"Stop it!" I hiss at him and he sticks his tongue at me. "But yeah, we're together." I look at Loki in reassurance and he nods, kissing the back of my hand. The romantics around the table awe and I blush.
"Even though I don't like you," I kick Tony's chair and he glares at me before looking at Loki. "I have to admit, you two are cute together."
"Absolutely agree. It's like Romeo and Juliet in real life." Bruce explains and everyone raises a brow at him.
"You do realise that they die at the end right?" Sam says.
"Do they?" Steve was just confused.
"You know what I mean!" Bruce wave his hand, going back to eating.
"I think they're more like Cinderella and the Prince." Wanda says and I know she had a thing for fairy tales.
"At least the Prince of Mischief has actual emotions unlike the log of a prince in Cinderella." Natasha snickers.
"Oh but have you seen him in the third movie!? Guy had guts to jump out a damn window!" I exclaim and everyone just bursts into talking about Disney moves before agreeing to have a marathon just to see the prince jump out the window. Wanda and Vision volunteered to clean the mess up as the others head into the living room. I was about to walk off when I was pulled back, looking behind me to see Loki holding my arm. "Is something wrong?" He shakes his head I turn to face him.
"Just..." Loki stammers slightly, holding my face and leaning his forehead on mine. "Thank you." He tilts my face up and kisses me softly, my heart just jumping in happiness. "I can feel your happiness." Loki chuckles against my lips as he pulls me closer, kissing me harder.
"Oi! You two stop sucking face and get here already!" I jump as Tony yells out from the living room, Loki actually laughing for once.
"Don't ruin their romantic moment!" Steve hisses back at Tony and I roll my eyes.
"Let's go before they start annoying us." Loki nods and he holds my hand before pulling me to a living room couch. We sit down together as I magic over a blanket, watching Disney films with everyone else.
