Chapter 21
The Iron knight looked at the walls, as the guards ran towards his position. He stepped forward with a sure movement, his claymore resting on his soldiers, as five men fire arrows from afar. The heads and shafts splintered and bounced off his armor as he smiled under his armor. This would be a long battle perhaps three days, if this went down as he thought it would. Ten men ran forward, reading a ballista on top the wall. The arrow flew down towards the knight but the giant iron figure took a small step to the left, barely dodging the arrow in the air.
Men ran forward with spears and swords as the knight continued forward. The men charged with weapons coming towards the figure, as he swung his claymore back. When the men had come into range, the two massive arms swung back, chopping through their armor, and into their torsos. Another arrow flew out, hitting the knight's forehead, as he thrust his blade through a fallen man. The knight was only yards away from the wall now, blade dragging against the dirt as he walked forward.
It was inevitable for these men to fight, an immortal being. The knight wasn't backing down as he slashed at the incoming soldiers one by one. He forced his claymore through one's legs, dropping him to his knees for decapitation. The swift movement was followed by another knight's side being hacked into, by the giant sword. The king's guard slashed and hacked at the invisible armor, trying to chip away at it. The guard fought like lions among a bear.
The sheer numbers started to overwhelm even the Iron Knight. However, in the end it was to no avail, the knight continued to plow through the men, eventually making it to the gate. He gripped the iron gate, as a battle axe slammed against his back. He turned around swiftly his sword slashing midway through his enemies' head. The knight took his stand, slashing and hacking at the knight as they ran down the stairs to his left.
The Iron knight kicked forward knocking a soldier back into his allies' body. The soldier's behind them stumbled forward, and met a swift end to the knight's sword. The Iron knight kept moving forward, up the stone stairs, fighting both sides as he slowly gained each hard earned step. The claymore he carried had limited use in the stair way, as he hacked and stabbed. A man rushed forward, as the knight grabbed his head and slammed it against the stone hall way wall. The soldier fell unconscious, as the knight slammed his head into another man's skull.
The soldier's learned soon that there was no way to kill such a man, and that they were doomed. The Iron Knight forced his way through the men, finally making it to the top of the stair well, where the wall opened up. The men came from all sides, as the knight tossed some off the wall, and others down the stairs. The claymore once again was free for more lethal attacks, as the knight decapitated another soldier.
Church bells rang and a horn was sound, as the alarm was sent throughout the city. The Iron Knight smiled, this wasn't as tedious as he had thought. More men ran atop the walls to meet him, as he gave a giant swipe, slashing men in half, with his claymore. He walked forward to the wall, stepping atop a dying man's head, as he yelled to the citizens below.
"I come for your king! I will slay any in my way! I come for revenge, deliver the man you praise before me now!" The Iron Knight bellowed with his poisonous and deep voice.
The whole city had been alarmed when the knight stepped forward, leaping off the wall onto the street. The stones crumbling before his mass, as his fist slammed down, the man on one knee. In his other hand, he held his claymore as he walked forward, following the once familiar road to his cousin's palace.
Men, women and children coward before the Iron Knight as he walked through their city, the king's knights charge at their opponent. The Iron Knight gave little tolerance to attempt to defend the city, as he fought them. He tossed one to the side, slashing at another as he parried the attack. In a fluent motion they attacked back, but the Iron Knight took the blows and kicked one into a nearby house. He moved his sword elegantly, taking the head of one of the loyal knights.
The knights sized the iron figure, looking at the six-foot tall man, with fear in their eyes. None of their weapons could pierce his armor, and very few could make him flinch. The walking tank just seemed to plow through everything slow or fast it continued at some sort of paste. One of the bold knight's thrust his sword at the Iron Knight, as the iron figure, caught his sword in his pit, back handing his fist into his nose. The injured knight scampered back with his blooded and broken nose. The others charged forward trying to best the Iron Knight, but to no avail, as it ended in their swift deaths.
The Iron Knight walked forward to the remaining knight, hovered his hand over his nose with his sword in the other hand. The iron figure lifted his sword before forcing it through the poor man's heart, the blood pouring out around him. The people watched as the blood stained the ground around them. The smell of fresh corpses in the air, made the attack seem all that more real, to those who believed it a dream.
"Tell me how death tastes." The Iron knight said to the dead corpses around him as he continued to march forward.
He watched as more guards ran down through the streets attacking him like dominos tumbling. One by one, they fell, the mark of the moonlight long gone when he had finished. The mark of a new day rose in the air as the knight continued his rampage through the city.
It was at the brake of dawn when his victory was secure. He walked slowly down the hall as the guards stood around the king. The Iron knight continued to walk forward, his claymore sheathed to his back. The march of the knight came to a halt only a yard away from the throne.
"Ahhh, do you not remember me?" the Iron Knight hissed.
"You should be dead. I simply sealed you in armor, as I told the wizard." The king replied.
The majestic robes hung from his arms, covering half of the palm of his hands. The fur lining gave the robe a look of power. And the royal colors of his clothes secured his born destiny. He was the king of the land, and had been blind-sided by one man. His brown beard came down to his chest, as it started to grey, his hair braided back, with a golden crown with a blue gem rested upon his head.
"Not so, I can't eat, or drink, yet it doesn't bother me. I cannot sleep, and I cannot die!" The knight replied.
"The wizard simply sealed you in the armor; do you take him for a necromancer?" The king inquired as he stood before his cousin.
The king's stubby nose was inches from the Iron Knight's face as he drew his sword, and his guard surrounded him. The Iron Knight closed his eyes, before slowly opening them once more.
"You can't kill me, no one can. I've already tried!" The Iron Knight yelled slamming his head into the King's nose.
The guards rushed in attack the Iron knight, but to little success. The claymore came back around as the knight hacked at his enemies. The loyal men to the king fell before the attack as the king tried to crawl away from his cousin.
"I want people to know that I was the one to kill you." The voice in the armor echoed.
The knight stepped forward picking up the king in one hand, letting his feet drag against the ground as he struggled. The knight kicked the giant door open, as he flung the king down on the ground, a crowd gathered around the palace.
"Any last words to your people, my dear king," The knight said mockingly.
"This man here seeks for revenge, and even upon my death will he not find the satisfaction he seeks. Stay strong, and continue to live with honor and peace throughout all your days. My only apology to you, my people, is that I gave you no heir to the throne. I hope one of my daughters can step up and take the place of king in my stead." The king shouted to the crowd, "That is all."
"Good, I was sick of waiting." The knight whispered back, slamming the king's chest against the stone way.
The knight lifted his sword high into the air before letting it fall down over the king's neck. He lifted his foot of the disconnected head of the king, as he walked back into the palace of the king. He looked around at the red carpet and pictures, before sitting himself on the throne waiting.
As he waited, a shadowy figure appeared before the knight.
"Well done, my servant." The shape hissed.
The Iron knight starred into the cold blue yet vivid eyes of the figure. He wore a jagged and cruel crown with a black steel mask, and helmet. The only thing that could be seen was his eyes. The figure wore a deep red robe, as if soaked in the blood of the innocent. He flung his robe to the side, the material landing and holding on his back, as he walked forward in his armor.
"I am no man's servant." The Iron Knight replied.
"Of course though are. Who else brought thee back? Ye are as the apple of my eye, unto me." The shadow replied.
"Apple of thine eye, I am no such thing. And what dos though mean, back?"
"Oh, but you are nothing but a servant, why should the mast give thee any information? Ah, yes, I shall divulge my secrets. I bought you back from the dead, to serve my purpose, to bring this kingdom to its knees. I am the Crimson King, and it is here where I will begin my cause."
"I was dead before?"
"Indeed, though were dead, and I brought thee back. Bow before your master, knight."
"I bow to no one." The knight replied.
"You relies you yet only live to serve me. The very ground you walk on is cursed. Serve me throughout your days, and ye shall be rewarded, but if ye deny me now, ye shall continue to walk with pain of soul. I can riddance such pain. If ye yet refuse me, I will find another, of course another, there are many, but not as many as have your rage, a rage your master can use."
"You can seas my pain?"
"Yeah, I can riddance ye from pain. Would you like to be whole again?" The Crimson King tempted.
"Yes," the knight paused, before bowing, "my lord, more than anything."
"Then arise, my servant, no longer shall ye be under the name of knight, but prince. Rise Prince Cethin, servant of The Crimson King."
"Yes master." The knight said arising.
"We have work to do." The Crimson king replied.
