Short Story: Unbreakable Friendship
"Remember when we first met?" My friend, Bailey asks me, sitting next to me on a patch of grass as we stared into the night sky. I nod. "But how old were we?" I ask. "Thirteen," Bailey replied. "Or was it fifteen, because it feels like we just met yesterday?" I laughed. "Who knows?" Bailey laughs, too. Once she calmed down, she said, "You were climbing a fence at midnight to get into your house, like an idiot trying to sneak into Area 51, and I had to drag you to the front door since you're so stubborn."
I hit her playfully. "Yes, then I got in trouble for getting home late after going to my cousin Andrew's party." "What time were you supposed to be back, anyways?" Bailey asks me. I shrug. "Eight at night? Nine? I honestly don't remember. I didn't have a watch and I couldn't read clocks very well, so that explains why I was home so late." She nods. "That was fun, Elianna." "I got in tons of trouble that day, I don't consider that as fun." Bailey smiles. "The next morning, I ran to your house and knocked on the door. Your mom answered it, and decided to let me in. I hung out with you, we talked together and all that."
"Now, that was fun," I reply. "We stayed, after midnight. I didn't care if we would get in trouble. At least we had fun."
I shot straight up on my bed. "Elianna!" My mother screamed. "Come on, time to eat!" "Coming!" I yelled back. After I got changed, I looked in the mirror, imagining Bailey next to me. And in my head, I thought, If only I could go all the way back to that.
