Peyton's POV

It's the first day of classes today and I am excited to see what classes are like at Hogwarts. I have Herbology and Defense Against the Dark Arts this morning. Then in the afternoon. I have double Potions and Charms. No doubt mum will want a run down of all my classes from my first day of lessons. Herbology was ok, we were shown how to re-pot mandrakes. Which is mandatory for second years and with what happened last year. Dumbledore believed it was best to always have a bunch of mandrakes encase of anymore petrifications. I nicked some leaves, as I plan on trying to become an animagus.

Anyway, defense was more fun. Uncle Remus had acquired a gnome for us to study. "Can anyone tell me what the natural predator of a gnome is?" he asks us. I raise my hand with a couple of others.

"Miss Reed" he says.

"A jarvey, it looks like an overgrown ferret. Loves swearing" I state.

"Excellent, take ten points for Ravenclaw" he tells me. "The gnome is a common garden pest found throughout northern Europe and North America. They prefer to live in wizarding gardens over Muggle gardens, and may have ran out and attempted to trip the unwary travelers near the garden they claimed" he explains.

A student next to me, raises his hand. Uncle Remus calls on him. "Lucas Marvel, sir. How does one get rid of a gnome?" the boy asks.

"Excellent question, does anyone know the answer?" Uncle Remus asks. Ginny and I raise our hands. He chooses Ginny.

"You pick up the gnome and avoid being bitten by their sharp teeth. You spin them around until they are dizzy. Then toss them over the garden wall as far as you can" she explains.

"Ten points to gryffindor" uncle Remus says.

"But won't that hurt them?" an other gryffindor asks.

"Not at all" Uncle Remus assures the girl.

"By why make them dizzy?" Lucas asks.

"So that they cannot find their way back to their burrows" Uncle Remus answers. "Ginny, would you like demonstrate?" he asks gesturing to the gnome. She nods her head and heads up. "Aim for target" he tells her. She does so and hits it straight on. We all take turns, tossing the gnome. Until the end of class.

We then went to lunch. Where I joined my cousins at their house tables. Ron introduced me to his room mates. Hermione and I compared our classes so far. After lunch I went down to potions. Which my house shares with hufflepuff. Where we revised the Wiggenweld Potion. We were given homework, we had to do a two foot long essay on it and it's uses in healing.

After potions we went to charms. Which is now in a new classroom. "Welcome, glad you all found the classroom ok. Anyway, I am your new Charms teacher and head of Ravenclaw house. My door is always open to anyone" she states. "Now I want to see what you all know so far, so I have made a little quiz" she explains and everyone groans. "I know, not fun. But once you finish, I'll show you all how to the dancing feet spell" she states.

We all did the quiz, which was very easy. She marked them and was happy with where we all are. She then demonstrated the dancing feet spell on a student. Then reversed it. She had us practice the wand movement and pronunciation first. Before putting us in pairs for the last ten minutes of class. So that we could practice on each other. She gave us now homework.

I stay behind, while everyone left. "How has your first day been?" she asks me.

"Good, only got homework from Snape" I tell her.

"Oh, and what does he want you to do?" she asks me curious.

"A two foot long essay on how to make the Wiggenweld Potion and it's uses in healing" I explain.

"I'm sure you will have it done before dinner" she says with a smile.

"You know me to well" I say with a smile and she chuckles.

"I have something for you" she states and takes a book off of her desk. She hands it to me. I look at her surprised. "Don't be surprised, I know you to well remember" she reminds me with a smile. "Besides if you are going to become an animagus, I want you to read as much as possible on the subject first" she states.

"I will" I assure her.

"Good, now run along" she tells me. I hug her and left the classroom. I head to the library. I did my potions essay. Then began reading the book mum had given me. I stayed in the library until dinner time.
