Peyton's POV

The rest of the train ride was uneventful. We reached the station and the rain had let up to a light drizzle. We exit the train. "First years, Peyton Reed. Over here!" a man calls.

"Strange" Ron says. "Come on Peyton" he says leading me over to a tall man. "Hagrid, this is my cousin Peyton Reed" he tells the man.

"Welcome, you are to travel the first years by the boats. It's a tradition" Hagrid tells me.

"Of course, who am I to break tradition" I say. "See you at Hogwarts Ron" I say.

"Hope you're in Gryffindor" he says and we hug. Before he returned to his friends. They get into a carriage and I notice the first years all gathered.

"First years!" Hagrid calls and no more appear. "Very well, everyone follow me" he tells us and leads us to a boat house. "No more then four to a boat" he tells us and gets to in a boat alone. I get into a boat with two girls and one boy.

"Hi, I'm Peyton Reed. Second year, transferring from Beauxbatons" I tell them. As the boats all start to move.

"Bonjour, I am Astoria Greengrass" says the girl with straight brown hair.

"Romilda Vane" says the girl with curly black hair.

"Thomas Johnson, live with my father and older sister" says the boy. "Though my friends call me Tommy" he states.

"Why are you transferring to Hogwarts?" Astoria asks me.

"Mum got a new job and we had to move to London" I state.

"Do you think we'll all be in the same house?" Tommy ask us.

"Who knows" Romilda states. "Oh Merlin" she says looking behind us. We turn to see Hogwarts castle and I smile. Mum is right, it truly is magical. We reach a boat house and get out of the boats. Hagrid leads us to the castle and we are greeted by a wizard with dark greasy hair and hooked nose. He must be the potions master.

"Professor Snape, where's Professor McGonagall?" Hagrid asks him.

"Dealing with two of her students. I shall be handling the sorting ceremony this year. You may leave" Snape tells him. Hagrid nods his head and left us with Snape. "Welcome to Hogwarts" he drawls. "In a few moments we'll enter the great hall and you shall be sorted into your houses. Before the feast begins" he tells us.

"For those of you who do not know, there are four houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Now while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you house points. Any rule breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup" he explains looking bored.

"Now wait here while I go see if they are ready for you" he instructs and leaves us.

"Charming fellow" Tommy says. "He's the head of Slytherin house. McGonagall is the head of Gryffindor. My sister is in her house" he tells us.

"Mine is in Slytherin" Astoria states.

"My cousin is in Gryffindor" Romilda adds.

"Same with my cousins. But I have family members that have been in every house" I tell them. Just then Snape appeared and told us the school is ready.

"Which of you is Peyton Reed?" he asks and I step forward. "You shall be sorted first" he tells me. I nod my head and we enter the great hall. He leads us to the front of the hall and we stop in front of the staff table. I spot mum and uncle sending them a smile.

"When your name is called, you'll sit on this stall. I shall place this hat on your head and you'll be sorted into your houses" Snape tells us. "Peyton Reed!" he calls and I step forward. I sit down and he places the hat on my head.

'I have been expecting you for some time Miss Reed. I am honoured that you are finally here at Hogwarts. You are much like your mother and will be difficult to place. As you have qualities from all four houses. Tell me, where do you wish to be?' the hat asks me.

'I do not know' I tell him telepathically. 'At first I wanted to be in Ravenclaw like my parents. But my cousins are in Gryffindor. Which of these two houses do you think will sort me most?' I ask him.

'Difficult' he says. 'But not impossible' he states. 'Each house has six mean traits. Gryffindors are courage, bravery, determination, daring, chivalry and nerve. Ravenclaws is wit, learning, wisdom, acceptance, intelligence and creativity. Lets see your six mean traits' he tells me. 'Courage, acceptance, creativity, determination, wisdom and a thirst to learn. Based on this, better be Ravenclaw!" he announces. The students clap as the hat is removed and I go sit at the ravenclaw table.

"Hello, I'm Luna Lovegood. I am a friend of Ginny's" a blonde haired girl tells me.

"Pleasure, Peyton Reed" I say with a smile. We watch the first years be sorted. I notice mum smiling with pride in her eyes as she talks to my uncle. Professor Dumbledore gets to his feet.

"Welcome to another year at Hogwarts! I have a few things to say to you all, and as one of them is very serious, I think it best to get it out of the way before you become befuddled by our excellent feast" he tells us. "As you will all be aware after their search of the Hogwarts Express, our school is presently playing host to some of the Dementors of Azkaban, who are here on Ministry of Magic business. They are stationed at every entrance to the grounds" he states.

"While they are with us, I must make it plain that nobody is to leave school without permission. Dementors are not to be fooled by tricks or disguises -- or even Invisibility Cloaks. It is not in the nature of a Dementor to understand pleading or excuses. I therefore warn each and every one of you to give them no reason to harm you. I look to the prefects, and our new Head Boy and Girl, to make sure that no student runs afoul of the Dementors" he tells us.

"On a happier note, I am pleased to welcome three new teachers to our ranks this year" he says smiling. "First, Professor Lupin, who has kindly consented to fill the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher" he announces. My uncle gets to his feet and bows to us before sitting down. "As to our second new appointment" Dumbledore continues. "Well, I am sorry to tell you that Professor Kettle-burn, our Care of Magical Creatures teacher, retired at the end of last year in order to enjoy more time with his remaining limbs. However, I am delighted to say that his place will be filled by none other than Rubeus Hagrid, who has agreed to take on this teaching job in addition to his game-keeping duties" he states.

"Now as some of you may of noticed, Professor Flitwick is no longer with us. He to has retired, but will be on hand to substitute when needed. Professor Reed, will not only be our new Charms professor, but also our new head of Ravenclaw" Dumbledore announces. Mum stands I clap loudly.

"I must say, it feels great to be back at Hogwarts. It's always felt like a second home to me. I look forward to getting to know you all and not just those in Ravenclaw. Let the feast begin" she says and the feast appears. I help myself to food and start to eat. Getting to know my fellow house mates, who ask me questions about my mother.
