Halloween was approaching. Grian and Mumbo had been dating for 4 years and came up with the best couples costumes every single year. Everyone was always so jealous of their creativity.

As the party was drawing nearer every single day, Mumbo and Grian realized they still hadn't thought of a costume!

"We could go as salt and pepper?"

"No, that's boring... How about rain and an umbrella?"

"That just seems awkward to me..." Mumbo laughed a little.

"Ummm cat and dog?"

"Overdone. Too common."

"What about a cat and a mouse?!" Grian squealed.

"I love it!"

"I'm calling mouse."

"Good, I was going to call cat. You're too cute and small to be a predator."

"Hey!" Grian blushed a little, grinning just a bit.

It had been decided. The two would go as a cat and a mouse.

They went together to a costume shop, and found a cat costume which was absolutely perfect for Mumbo, and the cutest little mouse costume for Grian. It was a bit revealing, and made for a girl to wear, but it would be fine for Grian.

"Go try yours on I wanna see!"

"You have to try yours on for me after." Mumbo smirked.

"Fineeeeee just go out yours on!"

Mumbo put cat costume on. It had a little tail, as well as cute pointy ears. The cat was black and white and suited Mumbo quite well.

He walked out a few moments later and Grian smiled. "Aweee Mumby it looks soooo good on you!!"

"Your turn!"

Grian picked up the mouse costume and went to go change. The costume was a lot shorter than he expected and also had a skirt with the tail attached. He couldn't wear the tail any other way so he slipped the skirt on. He out the round ears on, and even used a little eyeliner to draw on a nose and whiskers.

He came out slowly and walked over to Mumbo. He awkwardly pulled down the skirt.

"Mumbooooo it's soooo short!!" Grian whined.

"Makes you look sexy~!" Mumbo winked. "Well, sexier~ you're already sexy as it is~"

Grian walked close to Mumbo and Mumbo pulled him onto his lap.

"Why don't we play some cat and mouse~?"

"Mumbooooo nooooo you know me!"

"Alright, alright... I'm only teasing anyways."

{A week later}

The Halloween party was happening that evening.

Grian spent 2 hours getting ready; doing his hair, Mumbo's hair, makeup, everything. He wanted to go all out this year. He was going for a 5 year winning streak for the couples costumes.

No one had ever beat them, it was impossible. The two were such an iconic couple, they could go as ketchup and mustard and still win.

Grian and Mumbo made their way to Xisuma's house where the party was being held and walked in. Everyone was looking at them.

They looked absolutely perfect. No one would be able to beat their brand new idea this year.

The entire night was a blast for the two of them. They talked to all their friends, danced together, Grian even had a couple drinks. Maybe one or two too many...

He'd been laughing at everything, a little dizzy and trying not to run into things.

Soon, it was time to announce the costume winners.

"And, for singles, best costume goes to... Scar! Your pirate costume was absolutely incredible!" Xisuma announced, and everyone clapped and cheered for Scar.

"And now... The winner for the couples costume is..."

Everyone was cheering 'Grumbo'

"Everyone's favourite couple, Grian and Mumbo! Cat and Mouse this year! How new and creative!"

No one was surprised, and everyone was quite happy they had one.

Grian and Mumbo kissed hard.

"5 years, Mumby! We did it!"

"Yes, yes we did."

They took a trophy home with them that had their names on it.

"It really fits well with the others, doesn't it?"

"Yes, it really does! It looks quite nice!"

The two smiled at each other.

"Wanna play cat and mouse now~?"

"Mumbo! You spoon!"
