Detectives and Cats-2

"You WHAT?" Doc screamed, the police captain slamming his fists onto the large desk, Mumbo slightly cowering as he did so. The detective knew that his boss wouldn't be too pleased once the truth was told, but he didn't think that he should be fired for it. But the more he thought about it, Mumbo was definitely fired, he practically let that mangy cat getaway. Doc stood up, rubbing the bridge of his nose with an annoyed sigh.

"Mumbo, you used to be my best detective. But I'm afraid, because of your little stunt, I'm going to have to fire you." Doc growled with no remorse, The police captain extending his hand, Mumbo's heart dropping within seconds. Mumbo took off his police badge, hesitantly placing it into Doc's hand and slowly standing up, keeping his head down as the ex-detective slowly made his way to the door.

"Mumbo," Doc growled, narrowing his eyes at the mustached man, who let out a sad breath, pulling out his handgun and placing the weapon onto Doc's desk, who waved Mumbo away, the ex-detective leaving without another word, holding back tears. He had just lost his dream job, the years he had spent, trying to get this job, only to lose it within seconds? Mumbo was heartbroken, as he sadly trudged out of the police department, tugging on his sleeves in a nervous fashion. Small droplets of rain turned into a downpour, within seconds Mumbo became drenched in rain, the downpour increasing within seconds.

Mumbo shoved his hands into his suit pockets, his hair sopping wet as he entered the run-down apartment building that he'd been living in for the past few years. It was anything but nice, but it was the most he could afford. The unemployed man trudged towards the elevator, clicking the small button and watching as the faint glow of the button slightly flickered before the metal doors squeakily opened. Mumbo ran his hands through the knots in his hair, pulling at his raven locks as stress rummaged through the former detective's head. He barely noticed as the doors shakily opened, Mumbo taking off his dripping wet suit coat as he marched towards his apartment in an annoyed huff.

"What the-?" Mumbo stuttered, patting his pockets for his keys and wallet, which seemed to be missing. The former detective let out a defeated sigh, slamming his head onto the door of his apartment, fighting back tears. First Mumbo had to stay up night after night in search of the Pearled Cat, then he let the thief getaway, and Mumbo got fired because of it, and now he'd lost the keys to his house. This was shaping up to be a wonderful weekend.

The door handle suddenly began to move, Mumbo fumbling backward in surprise, watching as the entrance to his apartment swung open, standing in the doorframe was a familiar face, the Pearled cat, his bejeweled mask glimmering in the flickering apartment light. He held up the ring that held a few of Mumbo's keys, a small grin on the thief's face. Mumbo was speechless, struggling to find the right words to say. On one hand, that cat practically ruined Mumbo's life, but the former detective couldn't deny the burning sensation which bubbled in Mumbo's chest upon sight of the mangy cat.

"Hey boo," The cat said in a low voice, grabbing Mumbo's tie and yanking the former detective down to his height, their noses touching one another, Mumbo's hot face turning red within seconds. Pearl smiled at this, intertwining his lips with the mustached man that the thief had wrapped around his finger. Mumbo slightly whimpered when the cat pulled away, having Pearl here with the former detective was the only good thing that had happened this week. The cat smiled a bit, gently taking Mumbo's hand in his own, and pulling him into the apartment, shutting the door and locking it behind the two.

"I brought you a present, Mumby," Pearl said with a small grin, taking off the bejeweled cat mask and placing it into his bag, before pulling out a string necklace made out of beautiful pearls and diamonds, it had clearly been stolen, which made Mumbo's stomach twist into knots. Pearl didn't seem to notice, wrapping his arms around the mustached man's neck and helping Mumbo put the necklace on. The former detective cleared his throat, letting out a sigh of relief when the cat burglar turned away, studying all of the case files and photos of him strung on the wall. Mumbo quickly pulled his phone out of his pocket, quickly typing on the small keyboard, hoping that Doc could be of aid.

"What's this?" Pearl asked, yanking the phone out of Mumbo's hands and reading the cry for help, the thief pressing his lips into a fine line, slightly growling underneath his breath. Pearl threw Mumbo's phone onto the ground, before breaking the device under his foot, Mumbo trying to stutter an excuse.

"P-p-p-p-pearl it's not what you think-"

"You really don't trust me, boo? You think I'd hurt you?" The pearled cat questioned, brushing a bit of Mumbo's raven black hair behind his ear, Mumbo's face going hot once more. The former detective grabbed Pearl by his shoulders, before suddenly kissing the thief on his lips, the cat in a small state of shock. He didn't move when Mumbo pulled away, Pearl biting his bottom lip as he let go of Mumbo, taking a few steps back. He was clearly distressed, causing Mumbo's frown to deepen, the mustached man taking Pearl's hand and pulling the cat back, the former detective gently kissing Pearl on the nose, a small smile curling on both of the lover's lips, Mumbo knew he shouldn't be dating a cat burglar, especially not the Pearled cat, but it was hard to help himself, Pearl was incredible.

Suddenly something grabbed Mumbo by the shoulders, pulling him away from the warmth of Pearl's embrace. Mumbo was thrown onto the ground with no remorse, gunshots suddenly being fired, with echoing screams filling Mumbo's ears. The former detective opened his eyes, only to see Pearl, his mask off and his leg bloody, a gun wound in his thigh. He was in handcuffs, his face bloody and mangled, he must have put up one hell of a fight. Standing next to him, holding the small thief by the hood of his sweatshirt, was Doc, showing off Pearl as if he was a prize, the Police staring in awe. Doc laughed as the cat thrashed, trying to escape his grip, although it was useless.

"Take him away boys," Doc said with a grin, putting Pearl back onto the ground safely, Iskall and Ren, (two of Mumbo's friends in the police department) grabbed Pearl by his shoulders, pulling him out of the apartment, Pearl never making eye contact with Mumbo as they left. He kept his head low, Mumbo quickly stumbling to his feet, attempting to run after Pearl. Someone grabbed Mumbo's wrist, Doc growling under his breath as the police captain tightened his grip, preventing the former detective from running after the cat. Mumbo's eyes were slowly filling with tears, as Doc pulled out a pair of handcuffs, cuffing the mustached man's hands behind his back. The police captain narrowed his eyes at the necklace around Mumbo's neck, shaking his head and Mumbling a few curse words in German, before looking back at the former detective, Doc's glare cold and unforgiving.

"MumboJumbo, you are under arrest for assisting The Pearled Cat in his spree of crime."
