Week 1

Grian's POV
Wow. Grian couldn't believe that it was Christmas day already. Time really flew, he could've sworn it was August yesterday.

He rushed to his closet to decide what to wear today. He had about twenty copies of the same red jumper and grey jeans, but he also had a few seasonal clothing hidden in a corner.

He decided that he would go with a knitted green shirt, with some red stripes and a big Christmas tree in the middle. He went with his signature pants though.

When he was done changing, he basically rushed outside, over the bridge and to Mumbo's Grian proof vault.

"MUMBO! GET UP, IT'S CHRISTMAS!" Grian shouted to his best friend. He continued shouting until Mumbo groggily opened the door. He was dressed in his normal suit, and didn't wear any Christmas clothes. Grian decided to shrug it off. Mumbo's known for being a spoon, maybe he just didn't think about it.

"Are you ready to celebrate with the others?" Grian asked excitingly, expecting an just as excited 'yes' in return. But Mumbo just nodded.

Once again, Grian shrugged it off. He was probably just tired.

Okay okay, quick A/N, for the next part I'm basing what Iskall, Keralis and Doc thinks on Swedish Christmas traditions, cause I've heard the German ones are very similar.

"I can't believe we didn't celebrate yesterday, on Christmas eve," Iskall muttered and crossed their arms.

"Me too," Keralis agreed.

"Me three," Doc sighed.

"Come on you three, be happy we're celebrating at all!" Bdubs pointed out. Cub nodded in agreement and together with Bdubs he dragged the three of them out of the corner.

"Yeah, but just remember that we're watching Donald Duck at 3 o'clock," Doc reminded them, Keralis and Iskall agreeing. The other hermits decided not to question their Christmas traditions.

"Who's ready to open presents?" False shouted from the other side of the room. She stood next to the Christmas tree, her eyes basically shining of excitement every time she glanced at her own gifts.

All the hermits joined her. Almost all hermits. One of them wasn't there, but nobody noticed it.

"Who wants to begin opening presents?" Xisuma asked with a calm tone. He was always the parent figure, and therefore the most mastered.

"Me! Me!" Wels squealed and snatched one of his gifts, that was from Cub, from the bottom of the Christmas tree. It turned out to be a big, electronic toy soldier, and he thanked Cub greatly for getting him this.

The rest of the hermits unravelled their

The hermits continued to open their gifts. The room was filled with a happy aura, laughs, and excited voices.

"Hurry up, it's soon 3 o'clock," Keralis muttered and stared at the clock.

"Maybe we open the rest after we've watched Donald Duck?" Pearl suggested. Everyone seemed to agree.

"But first, I want Stress to open my gift," Iskall announced, gave her a very small present and pecked her on the cheek.

Iskall and Stress was the only couple on the server so far, and therefore the most adorable couple.

"Of course, love," she smiled. She unwrapped the paper and was met with a very small box. She opened it, and inside was...

"A ring?" she questioned, a bit confused at first. Then Iskall got down on their knees.

"Stress, you are the light in my dark. My angel when I'm in hell. My hero when I'm in danger. You are everything to me, and I want to spend every moment in my life with you. Because I love you. So much. Will you marry me?"

Stress looked startled, like she wasn't sure what was happening. But as soon as she processed the information, she basically threw herself at Iskall and hugged them tightly.

"Yes, yes, a trillion times yes!" she exclaimed and hugged them even tighter. "I love you Isk!"

Every hermit applauded, some cheering and False even fired a spare confetti canon from Many May.

"This is one of the finest moments in the history of Hermitcraft," Bdubs said, in tears.

That reminded Grain (swear I didn't forget this is still in Grian's pov) that he should also confess to Mumbo. He decided to give the newly engaged couple some time before he also tried his luck.

They sat down to watch Donald Duck. Grian wanted to sit next to Mumbo, but he wasn't to be seen anywhere.

He excused himself and left to look for Mumbo. He quickly found Mumbo in another room, sobbing.

"What's the mumbo, Mumbo?" Grian asked, concerned.

"Nothing," Mumbo said quickly and dried his tears. "Err... Is it time to open presents?"

Grian realised that he hadn't seen Mumbo for hours. What had he been up to?

"Mumbo, why aren't you celebrating with us?" he frowned.

"I should better tell you, shouldn't I," Mumbo said with a humourless laugh. "I've always hated Christmas. Because well, I guess you can say I have a curse. Each year, someone that I love dearly, romantically or not, dies. The more I love them, the bigger the risk is of them dying. And I can't stand losing one of the hermits. The reason I celebrated other Christmases was well, I didn't know I was the problem. But I realise that now. Maybe, just maybe, if I skip Christmas the curse will go away."

"No one has died yet, so you might be good," Grian told him and sat down next to him. He leaned against his shoulder, but Mumbo immediately pulled away. He instantly felt the feeling of hurt inside him. Guess Mumbo didn't like him back then.

"I'm really afraid of losing you, Grian," Mumbo continued. "I feel like if I confess my feelings towards you, the bigger the risk is of you dying. I wish I could admit it, but I can't. You're better off with someone else."

Grian felt hopeful. Was that a confession? "Mumbo, I-"

He was cut of by a shrill scream from the living room. Stress' scream.

Wait, no. No. They just got engaged, don't say it's- He quickly ran to the living room, and his suspicions were confirmed.

Iskall laid limp on the floor. Stress was violently shaking, gripping tight to her ring, False trying to comfort her. Most hermits were in shock or crying. The TV was still on with Robin Hood doing his thing.

Grian sensed that Mumbo ran away. Thoughts raced through his mind, he wasn't sure what to do.

What could've been happily ever after for two couples was ruined.

Nothing is more refreshing than a nice dose of angst
