It overcame her once again, that passion, as it had done the night that had led her to this miserable stage. She saw it, saw the onslaught, yet she allowed it to befall her and take over her once again. She couldn't fight off heat that accompanied that small light kiss. He released her lips slowly. They both stared at each other intensely with their faces only inches apart. Seiyafa broke the silence but not the stare down.

'Why?' she asked him in a desperate voice. He reluctantly let go of her and put some sensible distance between both of them.

'Seiyafa,' was all he said to her while trying to find the words that he could use to explain his actions clearly to her without doubt.

'Why did you kiss me? What about Monica? Taiye this isn't right,' she protested going on and on.

'Seiyafa! Seiyafa!' she finally stopped talking and looked at him. 'There is no Monica Seiyafa.' she stared at him, completely puzzled.

'There is no Monica. What in the world do you mean by that?' she demanded. 'Did something happen to her?' she found herself asking. Although she disliked the lady, she didn't truly wish her evil. Taiye shook his head in answer and she sighed in utter relief. 'Then what?' she asked after she had gathered herself.

'Seiyafa, I do not want Monica anymore. I want you,' he confessed to her. The revelation left her speechless. Heat curdled her stomach and passion instantly begin to gain her body.

'Taiye,' she whispered, unable to say anything else, still shocked. He sighed, staring at her.

'You really cried,' he said noticing the dullness if her eyes. Her eyes had a habit of not turning red if she cried, especially after a while. 'Why did you?' he asked. 'Why did you really cry?' he asked again as of her earlier reason had been a lie which it thoroughly was. The tender look in his eyes advised her to answer him sincerely.

'You,' was her reply. 'It is because of you, you jerk!'

'Yes Seiyafa, it is actually true that I am a jerk. I had no right fucking my best friend, especially one as good as you. I am sorry but I am not sorry Sei.' She stared at him, confused by his statement.

'What do you mean by that Taiye?' she asked him.

'I do not want you to be my best friend anymore Seiyafa. I cannot take it. I cannot live with that Sei,' he confessed to her. Pain made her heart tighten considerably and a tear ran down her cheeks. Soon, others were chasing it across her skin.

'You do not mean that!' she yelled angrily at him. He was just going to reject her, throw her away, just like that? After six long years of friendship? And just because of one silly mistake that they could both forget even if it was constantly haunting her. No, she would not let that happen. They have come too far to split over nothing. 'No you can't do that Taiye! No you can't!'

'Yes I can Sei,' he countered her outrage. She began to cry uncontrollably.

'Leave,' she whispered. 'Please leave me. I really want to be alone right now,' she said in a doleful voice.

'Seiyafa?'

'Get out! Get out!' she screamed getting to her feet. 'You used me, you fucking used me Taiye!'

'Seiyafa, wait let me-'

'And now that you are done you choose to cast me aside like a big fat piece of nothing?' she wept some more, angry and hurt.

'Hear me out first Seiyafa,' he pleaded with her. 'It is not like that Sei. That is not what I mean or want. You are misunderstanding me.' Now, she was confused again.

'What on earth are you trying to say Taiye?' she asked him.

'I do not want you to bey best friend anymore Seiyafa. Wait,' he said as she made to speak. The sternness in his voice and eyes made her comply. 'I am saying this because I want you not as my best friend, but as my girlfriend,' he finished. Now, shocked paralyzed her feet. They suddenly couldn't function and she found herself sinking into the sofa which es thankfully close to her.

'You say what?' she asked him again to double check.

'I want you to be my girlfriend Seiyafa,' he confirmed for her. 'That is the reason why there is no Monica. I broke up with her because I found out that I didn't love her. It is you that I want Seiyafa. It is you that I love. It is you that I need and not her. I don't know when all this feelings blossomed in me, but they are true. I double checked. I have had a very hard time putting you out of my mind. Your fragrance, the softness of your skin, the heat of your body, the wetness of your core from that night. It is too much to get out of my mind. All my pent up emotions for you, all released in one night and it still took me sometime to realize that I love you. When his confession ended, she stared at him blankly for about five minutes before she embraced him.

'They were right about me too Taiye. They were right about me wanting you to myself because I do now. Oh Taiye! I love you.'

'I love you too Seiyafa,' he said with a smile, looking at her face. For the first time since that night, she felt light, free, happy and in love. And when he bent and took her lips in a kiss to seal it all, she felt utterly fulfilled.
