Chapter 13

The rink was shut down just for the Nelson crew. Leave it to my dad to have the place cleared out just for him on short notice as well as catered by his own kitchen staff with sweets and vegetarian dishes. When he does things like this he goes BIG. On the way to the rink he managed to have Lauren call all his friends, past and current band mates, and a few fans from the area to this little party. Talk about a party animal! This was definitely gonna be a awesome day! Me and Joey couldn't wait to get into our skates and race each other around the rink and then stuff our faces just to go back out and skate it all off. When we pulled up me and Joey looked out the window and were amazed to find that there was a huge banner with my dad's symbol draping the building.

"Talk about a warm welcome! Daddy you truly are loved!" I said as looked back at him.

He looked at me and smiled as he put his fedora on.

"When you love your hometown they tend to love you back."

Regan gave my dad a nudge in the arm and threw him a little bit of side eye.

"Come on Prince stop acting like your not excited! This is amazing!" She said.

"I'm not acting. I'm excited I just......know how to contain it that's all."

Now I see where Regan got her terrible lying from. Dad. Tre and I held hands the whole ride to the rink and we were unintentionally holding on for dear life thinking that someone would say something but we were way too happy about going to have a little fun. Once the car came to a stop Joey broke out of his seatbelt and climbed over daddy like he was apart of the seat.

"Come on Carly!" He shouted and he jumped out of the car.

  "Hold on son! You forgot......"

My dad picked Joey's skates up from the floor of the car and held them in his lap as he shook his head.

"My little guy would forget his head if it wasn't attached." He said clutching the little blue skates.

"He's excited Prince. Let him enjoy himself!" Regan said rubbing on his shoulder.

She can't seem to keep her hands off my dad. One of these days those two will wind up naked somewhere and won't even remember where they are because it's gonna happen while I'm home. Try explaining that to your 16 year old daughter and you 7 year old son. Ugh. My dad got out when Tony opened his door and walked up to the building to find Joey and help him put on his skates. Regan followed behind him and then Tre and I were the last to leave.

"This should be fun! We'll actually be on a real date this time." Tre said ecstatic.

"Wellll......technically it's a supervised date. It's not like we're totally alone when your dad and your family is around."

"True. But it's still a date no less. And we're spending time together. Soooooo......." Tre said as he shook me by the shoulders and leaned in closer to me making me giggle.

"Ok ok! It's still a date God don't be weird!" I laughed.

"And since we have a little privacy....I've been meaning to give you something." He whispered.

  "Yeah? What?"

The softness of his lips met mine as we stood just feet away from the rink. I wasn't expecting him to kiss me. Then again we haven't kissed in a long time. Why does he send me to the moon and back again without warning? I swear I'm in love! We broke the kiss slowly and he tugged at my ponytail.

  "How was that?" Tre asked.

"Like trying on a new pair of shoes. Perfect in every way." I swooned in his arms.

"Good. Now let's go have a good time."

I couldn't even give him a response because my heart was pounding and I was giggling uncontrollably. This day just keeps getting better and better! Nothing could possibly go wrong. Tre and I walked inside hand in hand and were met by the loud music and the smell of food all around us. I couldn't wait to get on the floor and skate circles around Joey. Everyone was just beginning to arrive when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Here's my one and only niece. How ya doin? And welcome back!" The voice said behind me.

I turned to find uncle Morris smiling at me holding a small box.

"Uncle Morris! Hey!" I shouted running into his arms.

"It's good to see you home safe my dear! I have graced you with a gift. A gift most fitting for Prince's princess! Enjoy."

Morris handed me the box and I didn't waste a moment opening it. The box held a small crown necklace with a bright pink stone on its top.

"Uncle Morris! It's beautiful! Thank you!" I exclaimed as I hugged him again.

"You are most welcome! Anything for my favorite God daughter and niece. Now. Where's that purple king of yours. I need to talk his ear off about this tour he's trying to go on without me."

"Oh he's talking to his little girlfriend."

I pointed over at one of the tables and just as a few people moved out of the way Regan appeared with a smile on her face as she touched Prince's hand.

"Well look who's back! I'll be right back my dear."

Uncle Morris strolled over to the table combing his hair the whole way then stopped at the back table where my dad and Regan were sitting. I shook my head and giggled and then looked down at the shiny new price of jewelry that I got. Tre skated towards me smiling.

"Hey Carlz! What's that?" He asked.

"It's a necklace from my uncle. See?"

I showed him the pendant and he took the box from me.

"Well something as pretty as this should be around you neck and not in the box."

Tre took the necklace from its box and put it around my neck.

"There. Perfect. Just like you." He said with a smile.

"Thanks Tre. You don't have to sell you affection to me anymore. I'm not going anywhere for a while." I giggled.

"Who's selling? I really like you! And I really like seeing you happy!"

My cheeks blushed out of control as he took my hand. The lights on the skating rink floor went dim and the campy pop song changed to a slower love song.

"You wanna go out there and skate? Show off your new bling?" Tre asked squeezing my hand.

"Sure!" I said as he led the way.

We glided across the floor as the sling played and we smiling and laughing the whole time. I had glanced up a few times to see my dad watching us and Regan would give her occasional thumbs up behind his back cheering me and Tre on. I was very happy that we went skating today. If I had stayed home I'd probably be bored to death. This was worth the trip. The song ended and Tre led me back to the table where my dad was sitting.

"Having a good time?" He asked us.

"This is awesome daddy! Thank you!" I said hugging him tightly.

"You're welcome Carlyn." He said pulling away as his eyes fell on the new necklace.

"This is very pretty. Where'd you get that?"

"Uncle Morris gave it to me. You like it?"

"He did say he got you a gift didn't he? Your godfather seems to have decent taste in jewelry after all!" He joked as he turned to my uncle who was getting down on a huge platter of fries.

"Don't try to clown me Skip!" Uncle Morris laughed.

I laughed as they went back and forth with their jokes.

"Hey daddy I'll be right back I have to use the little girl's room." I chimed in.

I hugged my dad and skated off to the bathroom. I didn't even make it to a stall when the door opened and just as quickly closed and locked. The moment the lock clicked my heart stopped and I felt a cold chill on my neck.

  "Hello Carlyn." A woman said.

I turned slowly as my heart raced and my hands grew sweaty due to the fear rising inside of me. I turned to find Melissa holding the door closed even thought she locked us in.

"I've been looking for you. It's time to take you home."

My whole body froze and I couldn't make a sound because I lost all brain function. I'm in a world of trouble.
