Struggling For Balance

Words flowing from my pen

On dark and rainy day

Back muscles ache and twitch

From weeks of garden play

Time slippery as an eel

Old body flags too soon

Acceptance not my strength

Plod 'til muscles swoon

Desire to sprout life

Driven from dawn to dusk

'Til body says, "Enough!"

Hands feel like dried corn husks

New sprouts are springing forth

Old body needs some rest

So, I take up my pen

And let Mind do the rest

And as the words come forth

I realize I have missed

Putting pen to paper

And sharing rhyming twist

Struggling for balance

Between two loves of mine

Gardening and my writing

Their paths I must entwine
