I saw an egret

Or maybe a heron

Fly over treetops

A regal sky baron

In late afternoon

From north to the south

My eyes wide with shock

Joined with open mouth

Bird was all alone

I can only assume

Searching for shoreline

And fresh fish to consume

I wanted to shout

"Quick! Look over tall trees

An egret or heron!"

But there's no one but me

Pull in a deep breath

Savor joy that I feel

Looked up at right time

Captured Nature's reveal
